Woman Sneaks Into Daughter's Dorm To Surprise Her, Realizes She Made A Huge Mistake

Deanna Pilling was missing her daughter, Mckenna, who was away in another city and decided to surprise her by sneaking into her dorm room.

This idea seemed perfect at first, but Deanna had no idea what she was about to uncover in her daughter's room.

On The Way

Deanna decided to book a last-minute flight to Utah, spend a few days there with her daughter, and then travel back home together for the summer holidays.

While she was waiting to board the flight, Deanna tried texting and calling her daughter multiple times to ask her about her plans for the day, but she didn't pick up.

She Thought That Her Daughter Was Busy

She thought that Mckenna was studying for her exams, and that's why she wasn't picking up her phone. But this wasn't the case at all.

When Deanna landed in Utah, she took a cab to her daughter's university, preparing to surprise her with some chocolate and flowers. The last time she saw Mckenna was nine months ago when she helped her move into her dorm.

Searching For Her Dorm Room

Deanna couldn't remember on which floor her daughter's dorm room was. While she was walking up the stairs, she met some of Mckenna's friends, and they helped her find her room.

Deanna was feeling a bit nervous as she knocked on her daughter's door. It had been a long time since she saw Mckenna, and she didn't know how her daughter would react to her surprise.

Empty Room

To her surprise, nobody answered the door. Deanna knocked again. Still nothing. After a few minutes of standing there, she grabbed the door handle and was shocked to see that the door wasn't locked.

Something didn't sit well with her, but anyway, she decided to come in and wait for her daughter there. And what Deanna saw in her room made her hair stand on end.

Something Wasn't Right

The room was empty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Then she saw one of her daughter's flatmates packing her things, who completely ignored her "Hello."

"Something isn't right," Deanna thought to herself.

She Was Exhausted

Deanna was exhausted from her trip and decided to lie down on Mckenna's bed for a little bit. But, she was afraid to fall asleep because it would ruin the whole surprise thing. So, she turned on some music and covered herself with a blanket.

While still lying on her daughter's bed, Deanna took a selfie and sent it to her daughter. "I'm in your room!" her message read.

She Sent Her Daughter A Selfie

After a couple of minutes, Deanna received a text from her daughter. She was confused by what was happening. "Where is that?" Mckenna asked.

"Do you not recognize your own bed?" Deanna laughed. But it was the next message that left her horrified.

Wrong Dorm Room

Mckenna's message read, "I'm in my dorm. Please tell me you're not in someone else's dorm".

Deanna immediately ran out of the room, hoping no one would see her. But it was too late...

She Was Embarrassed

"I am in the wrong dorm, omg," she replied to her daughter. Not only was Deanna in the wrong dorm room, but she was also in the wrong building. But why would McKenna's friends lie to her about where she lived?

It didn't make any sense. But this was only the beginning...

She Was In The Wrong Building

"I felt so embarrassed because I've already said 'hi' to several students in the dorm, and they probably had no idea who I was," Deanna said.

“Oh my gosh, I didn’t even look at the name of the building. I could be in the wrong building”.

Her Dorm Room Was In Another Building

Deanna later realized that her daughter's dorm room was in the building across the street. And those "friends" that she saw earlier probably played a prank on her.

But how did Deanna's daughter react to her surprise?

She Thought It Was Hilarious

Mckenna thought the whole surprise was pretty hilarious, and she was happy to see her mom after such a long time.

She immediately turned to Twitter to share this funny story.

It Went Viral

Since she posted the photo, her tweet has received 25,800 likes and 11,400 retweets!

Deanna later admitted she wished he hadn't sent that picture because it wasn't her best angle. "I wish I would've taken a better picture," she said. And it wasn't long before the girl whose room she had visited saw the post.

The Girl From The Wrong Room Saw The Photo

A few days after Mckenna posted her mother's selfie on Twitter, the girl whose room was visited by Deanna commented under her post.

She wrote, "Is that my pillow?" She also couldn't stop laughing after seeing a photo of a random woman on her bed.
