Thief Steals Wallet, But After Looking Inside He Hurriedly Goes Straight To The Cops

Jake was mortified. In all his years of stealing, he had never seen anything like this before. He regretted taking this wallet and wished he could return it to its rightful owner.

But it was too late now. The only option he had was to go to the police station and turn it in.

Difficult Period

Jake Jones was going through a difficult period in his life. He got fired recently and struggled to pay his rent and groceries.

To make matters even worse, Jake had no savings in his bank account and no way of earning some quick cash. There was only one thing that he could do to feed himself.

No Other Choice

Jake never thought stealing was something he would end up doing, but he was left with no choice. He decided to take a walk in the park late at night, hoping to find an easy victim.

Just as he was about to go back home, he noticed a man walking by himself in the dark alley. Jake took a deep breath and made his way over to the stranger.

Desperate

He tackled the man and quickly went through his pockets. Jake didn't care what he found. He was desperate. The man tried to escape, but Jake pushed him to the ground.

He caught a glimpse of his face and felt sick to his stomach. The man looked exactly like someone he had seen on the TV – the criminal the FBI was looking for.

Running Away

Jake grabbed the man's wallet and phone and ran back to his apartment. Now, he had an extra cellphone that he could sell for some cash.

He placed the man's belongings on his coffee table, unaware of what he had just done. He would soon regret stealing from him.

Feeling Ashamed

Jake was ashamed of himself, he never thought he would become a thief. However, he didn't have any family to rely on and needed some money to survive the month.

He hoped whatever he found inside the wallet would help him pay the bills, at least for a week or two. He had no idea that these items would bring nothing but trouble.

Strange Discovery

Jake searched through the wallet and placed the man's belongings on the table. Inside were things like credit cards and notes.

But then Jake stumbled upon something that was unusual. His heart started to race as he inspected the item. What he had just gotten himself into?

In Shock

"No way," Jake thought while looking at the item. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. "Surely, this has to be a joke." Unfortunately, it wasn't.

Why did the stranger carry this thing with him? Jake felt sick to his stomach. He knew he had to inform the police about it.

On The Way To The Station

Jake ran out of his apartment with the man's belongings in his hand and drove straight to the police station. He had no idea how he would explain how he found these items to the cops.

He hoped that he wouldn't get in trouble for stealing the phone and wallet from that dangerous man.

Feeling Relieved

Jake entered the station and gave his statement to the police officers. He instantly felt relieved after sharing his story with them.

But as he handed over the phone and wallet to the cops, Jake knew he was about to be in a lot of trouble.

Giving The Officers The Wallet

Jake had just handed over his freedom, but he didn't care. The police officers needed to see what the man was hiding in his wallet.

Just like Jake, the cops were equally as shocked when they looked inside the wallet.

Identification Card

Inside the wallet was the man's identification card, revealing that the person Jake stole from suffered from a mild form of autism called Asperger's.

Jake felt ashamed when he saw this card. He wished he could go back in time and undo what he did.

Shame And Guilt

A tear rolled down Jake's face as he read the text over and over again. He knew he had to apologize to the man.

He admitted to stealing from this man as he couldn't keep all the guilt to himself. He had to pay for his crime.

Hard Times

It wasn't like him to have done something like this, but he had no money and needed to survive somehow. He hoped that the police would understand him, but he was wrong.

Would he go to jail for this?

Two Years In Prison

The judge sentenced Jake to two years in prison for mugging the man. Despite the fact that he had committed a crime, the judge applauded his honesty.

Do you agree with the judge's decision?
