Rebecca Patterson begged her babysitter to watch her children while she went grocery shopping. “Are you sure? I just need a couple of hours..."
But she couldn't help her today.
No Choice
Left with no other option, Rebecca put her kids in the car and drove to the grocery store.
Little did she know how much she would regret this decision.
In Target
As soon as they got to Target, her two-year-old son threw a tantrum. He crossed his arms and started crying.
"Just hang in there. We'll be quick," Rebecca said. She put her son in the cart and headed in.
Upset
Her son noticed the cookies on the shelf, and tears began forming in his eyes. "Maybe next time," Rebecca assured him.
The boy started kicking the cart with his feet and screaming. "I want cookies now!" Rebecca noticed the dirty looks she was getting.
Uncooperative
She tried to calm her son down, but he was uncooperative. He saw a box of chocolates on the shelf next to him and tossed it on the floor.
“Shut that kid up!" one person shouted.
Tiffany Jones-Guillory
"Little brat!" another person shouted. Then, Rebecca saw a woman walking toward them.
She could see the anger on the woman's face. Her name was Tiffany Jones-Guillory.
She Helped Her
To her big surprise, the woman didn't approach them to express her frustration. Instead, she began showing her son photos of her own kids to distract him and help him calm down.
Then, she looked at Rebecca and asked, “Can I hold your boy?”
In Shock
"Yes!" Rebecca replied. What happened next shocked Rebecca to the core.
She pulled out her cellphone and began recording this precious moment.
A Kind Lady
Tiffany picked her son up and began rocking him back and forth while singing a song.
Rebecca couldn't believe her eyes. This kind lady dropped everything she was doing to help her.
"She Saved Me"
“She walked with me while I got the essentials needed for the day and kept hold of my toddler while he calmed down,” Rebecca said.
“She saved me today! I was so sleep-deprived and was running on empty. A little kindness and understanding go a long way.”
Teamwork
Tiffany looked after her son as Rebecca finished her shopping.
Rebecca thanked the kind woman and drove home with her kids. But when she looked at the video again, she realized Tiffany deserved much more.
Viral
Rebecca uploaded the footage on Facebook, hoping to find out who the woman was. And it didn't take long for the news to get wind of the story.
With tears in her eyes, Tiffany began explaining what had happened that day.
"I've Been There"
It was clear to everyone that she just wanted to help the struggling mother. Tiffany said that she had “been there before.”
“I know how it is. I’ve been there,” she explained.
She Just Wanted To Help Her
“I have two kids, it’s frustrating, and that baby is two months."
“You have hormones going…and people are looking at you crazy, and I just wanted to help. God sent me there to help her," she continued.
She Gave Her Hope
Rebecca said she plans to pay the kindness forward when an opportunity presents itself.
Her post inspired other moms to do the same. This woman reminded Rebecca that there are still good people in this world.
