“Don’t pull up that latch! We might not know what’s underneath it,” the woman’s friend whispered to her as they both stood in their living room completely mortified. As soon as they peeled the carpet off the floor, they made a shocking discovery.

She Needed Help
That day started off ordinarily, though they never expected it to end in a treasure hunt. The owner of the house called her friend, “Hey, I’m doing some renovations around my house, and I wanted to know if you would be kind enough to lend me a hand?”
Her friend was always up for an adventure and said, “Of course! I’ll be there in an hour.” Little did they know, they were about to end up digging for something other than carpets…

Her best friend showed up a bit earlier than usual, and so their renovating job started earlier too. That day, the homeowner needed help peeling off the carpets. So she called her best friend for help.

“Try not to rip the floorboards underneath it because the floors might be worth saving,” the owner of the house said. The two women were working together as a team, but the carpet was a bit too heavy even for the both of them.
They tried their best to peel the old carpet off of the floor. Then the best friend said, “One final push, and we’ll get this carpet out in no time.”

As soon as the final piece of carpet was out, the friends were surprised by something on the floor. It was a trap door, and the homeowner wasn’t aware that they even had a cellar – or something of that sort.
The two friends tried to inspect the trap door, and they tried to see whether there was a latch that could open it. “Be careful. We don’t know what’s down there,” the friend told the owner of the house.

An Ordinary Renovation
When she started her renovation, this particular homeowner never would’ve expected that she would find something hidden in her home. After all, she thought that everything was already disclosed by her realtor when she bought it a few years ago.
However, she knew that it was finally time for some renovation – so she decided to start in her living room. Although, she couldn’t possibly do it by herself.

That day was spent trying to sweep the remnants of the carpet they were peeling. They were actually both so surprised at how great they were doing peeling those old carpets off the floor.

Ricardo thought it disrespectful to keep these documents when he knew that somebody out there might be looking for them. So he tried to track the old owners of his house, and with a stroke of luck, he did.

“Thank you so much for returning these treasures to us,” the owner of the trunk said. Ricardo simply gave him a hug and a nod – he knew that he did the right thing.
That day, they took a farewell look at their treasure chest, and they finally said their goodbyes. They knew that these old photos were important to these people, and they knew that they did the best they could in finding them and returning them.

Back in the United States of America, a man in Arizona found something surreal in his property. The homeowner was named Jon Simmons, and he wasn’t expecting to find the thing he discovered in his backyard.

Now we’re back to our main story of the two friends who discovered a secret trap door hidden underneath the carpet. “I don’t know if we should call the police or open it ourselves,” the owner of the house said.
“Maybe it’s better if we take a look at it first,” her best friend told her. So they both tried to look for a latch that would open the trap door.
The Friends Were Hesitant
After inspecting the trap door for a few minutes, the friends finally saw the latch they were looking for. The owner of the house asked her friend, “Are you ready?”
Her friend looked at her and gave her a reassuring smile, “Yes. Let’s do it.” So they both took the latch and opened the trap door. They had no idea what was underneath it, but they were ready to find out.

On their way down, they tried their best to avoid any cobwebs. The cellar was so old, and it seemed like nobody had been down there in a few decades.
It was dark, and the air was cold – it was a recipe for disaster, but the friends stuck by each other’s side and kept on walking. What they were about to discover wasn’t something they were hoping to find…
An Unlikely Discovery
The cellar was everything they imagined it to be; it was dark, cold, and giving off such a scary vibe. Although, on one end, there was a whole shelf filled with mason jars.
It seems that the old owners of the house were massive pickle fans because all the mason jars contained pickled fruits and vegetables. It was uncanny – pun intended.
How Old Were They?
The friends scanned through the shelves filled with pickled vegetables, and they couldn’t believe what they were seeing. They had no idea how old these picked items were, but it seems that it had been fermenting for a few decades.
Some of the mason jars even exploded – it has been there for such a long time. “This is so great,” the owner of the house said to her best friend.
Were They Safe to Eat?
“I wonder if these pickled vegetables are safe to eat,” the best friend asked. There were rows and rows of pickled vegetables on the shelves, and they had no idea whether these things were still edible.
This was such a great discovery, and it wasn’t something that they were expecting at all. “I thought this would be a cellar filled with creepy stuff,” the owner of the house said.
The Women Were Stunned
The friends explored the hidden cellar for hours on end, and they tried to find anything unexpected along its walls. Unfortunately, everything they ever saw inside was pickles.
These women were stunned to see that the hidden cellar in the home had been a pickle factory, nothing more. Although, we think that having a pickle factory is undoubtedly better than finding random creepy items.

These days, most people don’t include secret hiding places in their homes anymore. This was something that was all the rage in the last few centuries, but not anymore.
