Woman Hires A New Employee, Gets A Strange Call The Day After

Abby was at a loss for words. She had made a huge mistake by hiring this man.

The day after she hired him, she started hearing things about him that shook her to the core.

She Met A Homeless Man

One day, a homeless man entered Abby's restaurant and walked up to her. "Excuse me, I'm Ricky. Do you have any spare change?" he asked her.

The man looked very hungry and cold, and Abby felt sorry for him. “Do you not have a job?” she asked.

Nobody Wanted To Hire Him

"No, I don't," he responded. "I have a lot of felonies, so nobody wants to hire me."

Abby had seen this man many times before, and he usually just kept to himself. However, he seemed like a good person who had been through a lot, so she decided to give him a chance. Little did she know how much she was going to regret this decision later.

She Hired Him

Abby was actually looking to hire a new dishwasher, so she offered him a part-time job at her restaurant.

He was happy to accept the offer and began working the next day. Abby wanted to make his first day a bit more pleasant, so she made him a sandwich for lunch. That's when the unexpected happened...

He Ran Out Of The Restaurant

He grabbed the sandwich and ran out of the restaurant as fast as he could. Confused, Abby followed him outside, and when she looked to her right, she saw the man giving his sandwich to another homeless person.

Abby was shocked, but what happened next was even more bizarre.

She Had To Let Him Go

The man told Abby that his name was Ricky and that he was born in Puerto Rico. He was a great worker, but with her restaurant not making enough profit, she knew she would have to let him go eventually.

After a few days, Abby told Ricky that she couldn't afford to pay him anymore. But this wouldn't be the last time she saw him.

He Showed Up Again

The next day, Ricky appeared at her restaurant and ordered a sandwich. Of course, Abby gave him a staff discount and wished him a nice day.

But as soon as the man left, she received a phone call that changed her life.

A Phone Called That Changed Everything

Abby picked up the phone, thinking it was one of her employees or customers, but she didn't recognize the number.

“Do you know Ricky?” a stranger asked her.

It Was The Police

Before Abby had the chance to respond, the man continued, “It’s the police. “We have some information about him that we think you ought to know.”

Abby felt her anxiety creeping in as she listened to the officer.

Abby Was Scared

Abby was afraid and asked the officer to tell her everything they knew about the homeless man.

The officer explained that he had seen Ricky many times in town before, so he decided to do some research to learn more about him.

He Wanted To Become An Actor

He found out that Ricky was from Puerto Rico, and he moved to the United States to become an actor.

Sadly, he didn't bring enough money with him and soon became homeless. But what the officer told her next left Abby at a loss for words...

They Wanted To See Him

“Bring him in tomorrow,” the officer said. “Make sure he’s at your restaurant; we want to see him.”

Abby felt anxious. Why did the police want to see him? Was he in trouble again?

She Asked Him To Come In

Abby got in touch with Ricky and asked him to come in.  She wanted to tell him about the strange call with the police officer, but her gut told her not to.

Ricky greeted Abby with a warm smile and asked her why she wanted to see him. Suddenly, he saw two police officers walk in the door. He tried to leave the restaurant through the back door, but it was too late.

He Stayed Away From The Police

“Don’t worry,” one of the officers said, blocking the door. But Ricky was still very nervous.

All these years, he tried to stay away from the police as far away as possible. He had no idea what the officers were about to do to him.

He Got A Haircut And New Clothes

The officers asked Ricky to come with them and took him to a hair salon. They paid for his haircut and bought him new clothes.

They even managed to get in touch with his mom, who lived in Puerto Rico, and they had a lovely video chat. Ricky was so thankful for Abby and the officers for helping him out.
