When you have been married to someone for years, you can become curious that the spark is still alive and well. This particular wife decided to see for herself was her husband’s love for her as strong as she thought it was.
When her plan backfired, she would regret the moment she ever decided to do this.
Happily Married For Years
Imagine being happily married for years then out of nowhere feeling your partner suddenly starting to grow cold towards you. Their pulling away is so out of the blue that you can’t help but wonder was it something I did?
She decided to test the waters and pull a silly prank on her husband to test was his love still there. However, his reaction left her gobsmacked.
No Passion
All the while as her prank was in progress, she noticed her husband’s passion for her dwindling by the day. She worried was he possibly having an affair or perhaps he was nursing a secret addiction to drugs or maybe even something worse.
She was absolutely hell bent on finding out what was causing her husband’s distance but his reaction would leave her wondering why she even tried to find out.

She loved her husband very deeply but it was important to her to know was he just keeping up appearances with his happiness. She needed to know the truth now.
True Feelings
In order to uncover her husband’s true feelings, the devious wife wrote down absolutely everything about the relationship that bothered her and why she wanted a divorce.
Her idea behind this was to discover her husband’s true feelings to get to the bottom of his dismissiveness and lack of passion. Her plan wouldn’t go as smoothly as she would have hoped.
Sneaky
Her plan was in order to get a proper gauge on his reaction to this earth shattering news, she would lie under the bed and leave the note on top of the bed. From there she would be able to see his genuine reaction.
It was a very complicated and hurtful prank that she wasn’t sure would work but she had decided in her head that this was the only way to do it.
Heartbreak
In the wife’s head, what she imagined happening was watching her husband break down in heartbreak and at that point she would emerge from under the bed to comfort him. She would have gotten her answer and know her marriage was strong.
However, the wife did not receive the answer she was looking for at all. In fact, his reaction confused her even further.
Writing the Note
She wrote the note as bluntly as possible from her point of view about how she felt the love had been slowly fading from their relationship for years and how she felt it was over. She knew she had to go in hard to get a reaction from him.
Satisfied with what she’d written, she got underneath the bed and waited for him to come in. It would prove to be the worst decision she had ever made.
Waiting Game
As she lay under the bed, waiting for her husband to return from work for what felt like hours she turned her plan over and over in her head. She wondered would her plan backfire on her. What if she didn’t get the reaction she wanted? Would counselling have just been easier?
Very soon she was about to find out everything she needed to know.
He's Home
Finally, the moment of truth had come. She heard his car pull in and the front door open. As his footsteps made their way up the stairs, she felt her heart beginning to race. She was about to get her answer.
As he came into the room, she immediately began to regret what she had done. His reaction was about to prove her right.
He Reads It
She saw his feet standing in front of her, motionless, as he read her note in silence. It was far too late at this point to take back her elaborate prank. She was about to get her wish to see his true feelings and she was sick with nerves.
As he started to pace she wondered what was going through his head. She had been hoping for tears but she heard none. She was about to hear his true reaction.
Not What She Expected
As she lay there on tenterhooks, waiting for something, anything, from him, he did something that she had been dreading all afternoon. He started to laugh. Then he pulled out his phone and called someone.
“Hey, guess what, my marriage is finally over! I know right, I thought she’d never get the message. I’ll be right over to see you” he said then walked out of the room. She was speechless. Her worst nightmare had come true.
Cutting
His words had cut her right to the core and she began to sob. Even the worst case scenario she had imagined hadn’t gone like this. She wondered who he had called, whether it was a mistress or just a friend.
Either way, his nonchalant reaction told her everything she needed to know. She was about to find out who he had called with his news.
Sobbing
As she lay underneath the bed, sobbing and feeling like a complete fool, she began to regret ever trying her foolish plan. She has hoped for his dramatic emotional breakdown and for him to sob his eyes out for her.
However, it seemed like her foolish plan seemed to play straight into his hands and he was delighted. Now she had to deal with the fallout of her actions.
Regret
As she managed to drag herself out from underneath the bed, she was faced with much more than when she had crawled under not half an hour previous.
Her husband simultaneously seemed happy to be rid of her as well as potentially being with another woman. Could it have gone much worse? However, she was about to find out exactly who he had called.
Rebuilding Her Life
As she reeled from her life changing news, her body still racked with deep sobs, she tried to comprehend how she would go on without him. It was at that point that she noticed it.
There, on the bed next to her relationship death sentence was another note. He must have left it and she had not noticed. She was about to get her answer.
Her Answer
As she picked up the note and began to read, she could feel her heart beginning to shatter even more with every word. Still, she needed to know the truth. That had been the entire purpose of her prank.
As she read down the page she felt herself sob harder and harder as he detailed everything that she had been so afraid of for months.
Short and Sweet
After building up the courage to read it, she saw what he had written was short and sweet. He had written “Dear Wife, Next time you try to trick me into proving my love for you make sure that your feet aren’t sticking out from underneath the bed next time”.
She could not believe it. She had been caught in the act. How would she ever live this one down?
Embarrassment
Despite planning her prank down to the last detail she had let herself down with the most trivial and small detail. She was totally humiliated at the way it had all backfired on her.
On the bright side, she could see her husband was light hearted enough to make a joke of it. Would she be able to get over this embarrassment?
Relief
As she put the pieces together, she realized her husband hadn’t even been on the phone at all and had been faking the call to get under her skin. She deserved it really.
It had taught her a valuable lesson about playing with people’s emotions to get what you want. It never works out. Would her husband be able to forgive her?
Trust
Sometimes this kind of a prank can be the ultimatum that a couple needs to see where they stand with one another but it is not something that would be regarded as healthy. Having trust in your partner and being open and honest is the only way to deal with issues like this in a healthy manner.
Thankfully for this paranoid woman, her insecure prank didn’t tank her marriage but who’s to say how long it lasted after displaying her manipulative behaviours.
Happily Ever After
Sometimes all you need in a relationship is trust to get you through the ups and downs that are inevitable in life. Going to elaborate measures to see if they will react dramatically is never indicative of a healthy relationship.
Hopefully for this couple, they learned to communicate better so she never had to pull any crazy stunts like this ever again.
