When He Vowed To Marry Her They All Laughed, But Look At Him Now

Everyone laughed at him when he said he would marry her one day. They just couldn't believe someone like her would be interested in him.

But little did they know, he would keep his word. He was more clever than they thought.

Bestfriends

Matt Grodsky and Laura Scheel first met in preschool in Phoenix, Arizona. They quickly became best friends when they were just three years old.

People thought their friendship wouldn't last long, considering how young they both were. Unfortunately, they were right.

Special Bond

Matt and Laura spent their days playing at each other's houses, exploring, and laughing. The pair did not only hang out after school but also planned their weekends and holidays ahead of time.

But what Laura didn't know was that Matt fancied her. One day, he stood up in front of all his classmates and professed his love for her. But at barely three years old, no one took him seriously.

Separated

Sadly, Matt and Laura got separated when they were sent off to kindergarten. They tried to remain friends, but that didn't last long.

They both made new friends and memories apart from each other. But then, seven years later, Laura saw a picture of her childhood best friend, and all those feelings came rushing back.

Years After

During her freshman year, Laura was with one of her friends when she saw Matt's name on her friend's phone. She told her friend all about her childhood best friend Matt and how she wished they were still in touch.

Her friend quickly devised a plan to set her up with Matt again.

Hesitant

At first, Laura was hesitant about seeing Matt again. “I was a freshman in high school, so I was like, ‘I don’t think so!’” she told People. But her friend gave Matt her number anyway.

A few days later, she received a text from Matt, and they decided to meet up.

In A Relationship

Laura and Matt hit it off right away, and just two weeks later, these two sweethearts were officially dating.

The pair saw each other weekly and spent as much time together as they could. But soon, it was time to say goodbye again. They were going to different colleges, and they knew how hard this would be.

Separated Once Again

“Right after we graduated from high school, we were pretty hesitant,” Laura told People.

"Do we stay together? Do we try to make it work.’” Matt enrolled at Columbia College in Chicago, and Laura attended Northern Arizona University. They decided they would make it work regardless of the distance between them. Little did Laura know that Matt would keep his promise. He was about to surprise her in the most unexpected way.

Beautiful Surprise

Matt decided to propose to Laura when they were both in their senior year of college. “I convinced Laura that we were going to a picnic at the preschool. We had just finished up our junior year of college, so I framed it as a nice relaxing date,” Matt told Huffington Post.

When the pair arrived at the destination, Matt got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. “YES,” Laura exclaimed, “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, is this happening?’

She Said Yes!

“I proposed to her at the place it all began … our preschool classroom,” Matt explained.

“When you like someone, you just kind of stand up and say it,” he said in an interview. He had always known that Laura was the one for him. As soon as she saw the ring, she burst into tears.

Emotional Moment

‘This is gorgeous. I’m so happy with it.’ I had no idea,” she explained. The pair tied the knot in December 2016, almost 20 years after they first met in preschool.

“For most kids in preschool, it’s about finding your snacks and your sleeping mats, but for them, it was about finding their soulmates," Matt's uncle said. Little did they know, they were about to make headlines.

Viral

Soon after these two got married, Laura shared the story of how she met her future husband.

It instantly went viral and got noticed by a social media account called. “The Way We Met," which republishes stories of how couples met.

Beautiful Love Story

Laura's post has received a lot of attention from people all over the world, and the caption started off with Matt explaining how their love story began.

“I was enamored with Laura as a child, and I still am to this day," he explained.

Tyrese Gibson

Laura's post has been shared more than 300,000 times. A famous actor and rapper, Tyrese Gibson, had reshared her post, admitting that he is “a sucker for true love.”

He even offered these two lovebirds a three-day vacation to Miami!

Happily Ever After

“It’s totally insane. I’m eating a sandwich at work, getting messages saying, ‘Hey, you’re in India!’ or ‘Hey, you’re in Paris!’ It spread like wildfire, and we’re just glad to be a part of something positive around the world, ”Matt told Huffington Post.

After Laura and Matt got married, they bought a home and adopted a sweet god called Kirby. The couple is planning to have children in the future, but for now, they are just focusing on their new pet and beautiful home.
