Weird things only Americans find attractive

You probably have your own opinion of what is attractive and what isn't. Chances are when you visit different countries; you'll start to observe how bizarre some of their customs and preferences are in contrast to your country’s choices.

America has always been painted as liberated in the minds of foreign people. With this in mind, Americans find certain things quite attractive that the rest of the world seems to disagree with. Let's find out what are these weird things that Americans prefer below.

The Bigger Lips, The Better

What shape of lips do you find most attractive? Let's talk about the American's idea of perfect lips. One of the many odd things that Americans find attractive is having pouty, bee-stung lips.

They say that a woman looks ten times more seductive and alluring when she has kissable lips. However, the term kissable lips vary depending on what country you are in.

Celebrity Crushes

For Americans, Marilyn Monroe, Angelina Jolie, and Kylie Jenner are just a few stars with the perfect coveted lips. These influential ladies became the inspiration of many to achieve their most sought-after look. True enough, you can see many celebrities and models that have undergone treatments just to reach that beauty standard.

Impossible plump pouts are continuously portrayed in the media as an ideal look that inspires and influences women. And lip treatments have been the talk of the town ever since.

Not For Everyone

Although this may be true for Americans, some parts of the world don't see it as attractive. Some countries prefer a more prominent lower lip than an upper lip. In contrast, some may like thinner lips.

And others prefer a lot more subtle and realistic-looking lips. After all, humans have a wide array of preferences when it comes to attractiveness.

 The Tanned Skin

The never-ending want of humans. You've probably heard your curly-haired officemate whining about wanting to get a hair treatment to straighten her curls or your ginger-haired neighbor planning to turn it black. People want something that they don't have.

Well, in the United States, most faired-skin people wanted to have darker color or complexion. Caucasians are well-known for their love of tanning.

Tanning Fever

We cannot deny that the love of tan skin is a very American thing. And we cannot leave out this strange skin color preference from our list. You can always find Caucasians sunbathing on beaches and many tanning products, from tanning lotions to tanning sprays in America.

They believe that a woman with glossy bronze skin is more attractive than the one having a pale complexion. On the contrary, Asian women would do anything to have a fair complexion.

Won't Last Forever

This difference just shows that tanned skin is not a universally accepted preference. For Americans nowadays, darker skin suggests that you have a high status. You probably have the time, money, and energy to travel, thus resulting in tanned skin.

But this wasn't the case before, and dark skin implies you spend much time outdoors, perhaps doing manual labor. It was just recently that Americans changed their view about skin complexion, which made other people across the globe sigh in objection.

Having a Perfect Pearly White Teeth

Have you come across any teeth whitening products during your weekly errand to the grocery? Another thing Americans prefer is white porcelain teeth. Teeth whitening products are now available in the market because of this growing preference.

Not only are developments being made to suffice this want, but also there are the latest gadgets and treatments available. A smile is beautiful when you have white teeth.

Perfect Smile

Aside from wanting it to be white, their teeth should also be perfectly straight. Americans are particular with their teeth that they consider yellow and crooked teeth an imperfection. Achieving these almost perfect-looking teeth will only be possible with the help of treatments from orthodontists.

However, not everyone would agree to this strange beauty standard. Some nationalities find crooked and bad teeth cute and endearing and would rather accept their flaws

Smiling To A Stranger

From perfect lips and teeth to a smiling face, Americans are particular about personal appearance. It's no surprise that most people in the United States prefer someone who's always smiling. Americans do find it more attractive when a woman smiles than someone who doesn't.

For them, smiling is a sign of friendliness and a polite gesture. However, that is not always the case since foreigners may find it weird or overdone, which can mean different things for them.

Around The Globe

Have you ever been to a different country? Were the people smiling all the time? The thing is, in every culture, smiling is perceived in different ways. You should know that distinct countries have different social rules that influence how people should interact.

Next time you visit a country, make sure to learn their culture because randomly smiling at strangers in public is commonly interpreted in Russia as a symptom of mental instability or low intelligence, and you don’t want to be branded as such, do you?

Loud Makeup

Now we can all agree that most Americans fancy extravagance. They love too much of everything, from lips to makeup. Most women spend hours just applying makeup. They also invest much money in branded cosmetic products like MAC, Nars, L'Oreal, and Maybelline, to name a few.

For other countries, wearing so much makeup is an off-putting choice since most women nowadays turn to a more natural and subtle look.

Beauty At First Glance

However, Americans love to go all-out. "Be loud and proud," they say. It's as if their faces are blank canvases ready to be drawn and painted.

They are risk-takers when it comes to beauty trends. And with that, we cannot deny the fact that the US is the leading makeup trendsetter.

Shaving Everything

Waxing, plucking, shaving, or laser hair removal, you name it, Americans have various ways of removing unwanted hair from their body. Getting rid of body hair is said to be attractive for most Americans.

Of course, the result says it all. Your body looks clean and glowing after the shaving. But not everyone feels the same way.

Considered Appealing

Most men and women in the United States would say that it's hygienic and attractive. On the contrary, others may say that they don't remove their body hair as a sign of self-love and acceptance.

Some women prefer to leave their body hair alone. American celebrities have broken the rules and confidently showed their unshaven legs and armpits to the world. But you'll most likely find a lot of actresses and models that would instead choose to maintain the norm.

Not a Fad

Perhaps you'll get culture shock if you visit other countries and find out that their women don't feel the need to get rid of every unwanted hair on their bodies. Countries like China find it odd that Americans wax or shave off their body hair. Nevertheless, more and more people are accepting the idea of hairlessness.

Go on a stroll to your city, and you'll probably find a cosmetic clinic that offers hair removal treatments. This weird preference of Americans may not stay strange in the eyes of the foreigners as other nations follow this beauty trend.

Go Blonde

Being blonde is another American thing aside from fake tanned skin. When you ask foreigners to describe an American woman, one of their descriptions would be light-haired or blonde. This hair color has long been associated with Americans, not because they are naturally born with it.

The truth is, only five percent of Caucasian Americans have natural blonde hair. People always want what they don't have, and not all Westerners have this hair color.

Social Class

So why do most American women dye their hair blonde? It turns out that the majority of the males find women with light hair more attractive than the others. They say women look more lively, healthier, and younger with light hair colors.

Aside from that, women would deliberately dye their hair blonde if they were in higher social positions. This allows them to achieve a more competent and confident look.

Natural Is The Way

Although it is beautiful in America, this is not the case for other countries. Having blonde hair is not universally praised. Natural dark hair is often the preference of men in other parts of the globe.

Also, people are starting to embrace their natural hair color, believing it is an extension of their culture and national identity. You can find many women confidently flaunting their ginger, black, and brown hair on social media.

 Elaborate Manicures and Pedicures

Does it bother you when your officemate makes clicking noises when her nails hit the keyboard? It seems like long acrylic nails are growing in popularity these days. Thanks to another trend popularized by Americans. Most women in the United States prefer to get their nails done almost every month.

Well, not just the standard trim, adorned with different glitter, designs, and color, the rest of the world cannot comprehend why they put much effort and money into it when it can be impractical.

Yay or Nay?

Imagine opening a can of soda with those long pointy nails and washing your face without hurting your eye. Only Americans would go the extra mile to achieve this beauty standard. Try to observe Instagram models, singers, and actresses; they always seem to have something in common: long, pointy elaborated nails.

TV personalities like Kim Kardashian and rapper Cardi B are usually flaunting their new acrylic or fake nails in their social media accounts. Of course, not everyone would find it attractive; people living across the pond would prefer trimmed and natural-looking nails.

Groomed From Head To Toe

Is there a fine line between well-groomed and too-groomed? Looking back at the list, we can say that Americans are very particular about their appearance from head to toe. Americans do many things to look best and perfect by dyeing their hair blonde, plumping their lips, whitening and straightening their teeth.

It's the American way in which most people would roll their eyes and say that this self-care is a bit over the top. Let us not forget putting on heavy makeup, shaving their body hair, and manicuring. We can't blame them for wanting to look presentable.

What Is Perfection?

Most people would fix themselves to look proper and well-groomed and of course, Americans wouldn't settle for less. They set themselves not only to look presentable but also to become more attractive.

Americans find it attractive if someone is close to perfection. In comparison, other people prefer to have a more natural look.

Slim frame

Forget about the saying, "chubby is the new sexy." American women go extra lengths to have a slender body. Having a slim figure is thought to be attractive in their culture.

With this in mind, weight has been a severe issue for most Americans. They would spend an extended period working out in gyms. Foreigners find this preference perplexing.

The Fitter The Better

Along with a slim frame, they also find exercising an attractive trait. Men and women in the US liked someone who exercised for several hours each week. This suggests that most of them find it attractive if someone minds about their weight and physical features.

Quite tough to live in a country where attractiveness is heavily based on a person's body. Living the American way can be high-maintenance.

Revealing clothes

Aside from having a perfect slim figure, Americans also find it attractive if someone wears daring clothes. No doubt, you’ll steal the spotlight if you’re wearing clothes that highlight your best features.

In contrast, many cultures prefer to keep things hidden, but not in the US. If men from other countries won’t dare to look or pay attention to women who wear revealing clothes, it’s an attractive trait in America. Showing little skin here and there can be a sign of confidence and appeal.

Fashion Trend

It's not uncommon to find women in the US wearing revealing clothes. This preference influenced a lot of women around the globe. When you scroll through your social media account, you can observe that even women in your country like to show off their skin once in a while.

Some women feel confident if they receive attention for the way they dress. Indeed, it’s nice to be noticed, but girls often dress to impress other girls, maybe even more than guys.

 Casual Clothing

Another thing that Americans find attractive that foreigners find strange and cause culture shock is people wearing casual attire almost everywhere. It seems like people in the US are either overdressed or underdressed.

There's no differentiation between casual, semi-formal, and formal dressing in the US, like most cultures. You can find Americans in their sweatpants and shirts almost everywhere. This simple approach to fashion makes them odd, although it is deemed attractive to them.

Lounge-wear?

But why do they dress casually, you might ask? For Americans, their casual style emphasizes convenience and practicality. Aside from that, clothes are deemed as their freedom to choose how they present themselves.

The option for low-key style outfits has influenced every aspect of their lives. To dress casually is a very American thing; carefree, loose, and comfortable.

Flawless Is Perfect

What's your idea of a perfect look? Is your favorite celebrity your standard of perfection? Most Americans don't find it hard to answer this question. For them, flawless is perfect. Americans are willing to go through almost anything just to achieve that perfect look from top to bottom.

This may make you take a trip to a dermatologist or have your weekly facial to achieve this look. Perfection comes with a  price and let's hope that we can afford it!

Plastic Surgery

This beauty standard appears to be weird and unrealistic for other people, while Americans find perfection attractive. It's no doubt that Americans are open to the idea of cosmetic surgery.

Going under the knife is much more popular in the US than in any part of the world. Americans get cosmetic surgery because people apparently find it more attractive. This will help them achieve a more flawless look.

Butt Implants

Speaking of surgery, most Americans find a surgically-enhanced butt attractive. Women in the US all want the same thing, and that is a Kim Kardashian-like butt. A stunning body figure in America is large buttocks, thick thighs, and a tiny waist. However, this is not the same in Europe and Asia.

Curves are attractive to European ladies but not like the exaggerated buttock proportions favored by many American women. Letting that booty work is the way to go!

 Breast Implants

Some people find it weird that Americans prefer large round breasts. The most common breast shape in the United States is round, all thanks to cosmetic surgeries where you can choose what shape your bosom will be.

Typically, more American women like the rounder fake look, while Asians and Europeans prefer a more natural-looking bosom. Breast implants in America are larger than in any part of the globe. The bigger and rounder the breast, the more attractive it looks.

Face Lifts

Americans are obsessed with face alterations to look perfect. From implants to facelifts, they have all the cosmetic surgeries to make a person look almost perfect. People are starting to think that these facial procedures are weird and over-the-top.

However, it's entirely normal for most Americans. Facelifts are nothing out of the ordinary, and it's just another way for them to look unrealistically perfect.

British or Foreign Accents

Have you heard someone in a club trying to fake an accent? It turns out a lot of Americans find foreign accents attractive. This explains why men would go out of their way to imitate certain accents. Weird. Nope! It's just another American thing. Americans love foreign accents more than anything, especially British accents.

The reason is that this accent signifies high status and wealth. People appear smarter and sexier when they have a British accent. For Americans, it's the epitome of elegance and grace. There are a lot of bizarre things that only Americans find attractive. People call these oddities "The American Way." Most of them are rooted in something that indicates wealth and success. Despite the differences in preference, one thing is for sure. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
