The Best Travel-Friendly Pets

In today's ever-expanding world, more people are traveling up and down than at any point in human history. That means you are probably on the road more than you'd like to admit. Well, despite that people still want all the perks that come with stability and one of those big perks is pet ownership. If you fall into this bracket and you want to find a way to merge your love, or necessity for traveling and pet ownership then you’re in luck. We have made this article just for you, so you can know the best pet types that handle travel well. Maybe if you get your next pet with this in mind, it will make travel significantly more manageable for you. Okay, let’s dive right in.

Dogs

Of course, we’ll kick off this article by talking about man's best friend. You can’t be a friend to humanity if all you do is stay home after all. Dogs are some of the most common, easiest, and all-round best pets to travel with as you go up and down. Suited for everything from air travel, and road trips to even train travel, you can virtually bring your furry little friend anywhere at all. In fact, if your dog is small enough, various airlines allow you to have your dog in your cabin with you. Could it get any better than that? Of course, larger dogs don’t have this luxury for obvious reasons and they tend to be checked in as luggage but be very careful when you do this, it has its risks. Also, keep in mind the dog breed you carry on planes with you. Certain breeds like the French Bulldog or Pug, can quickly become overheated and suffer breathing issues. These are far and few in between however, most breeds will love to just be on the road

Cats

Well much like dogs, cats are also amazing travel buddies if and when they feel up to it. At first glance, it may not always appear so because most cats are used to being indoors, much like their owners. However, if your lifestyle is one of travel, your fluffy friend might adjust with you and be your companion on whatever adventures life takes you on. The good thing about cats too is that most airlines allow you to bring them with you into the cabin, with a few limitations of course. The most problematic challenge you’ll likely have with your cat is the fact that you will have to travel with a litterbox. We have to stay hygienic at all times, after all, don’t we? Much like dogs as well, please pay attention depending on the particular breed of your cat as some are easier to handle than others when you travel. Each of these sets is unique and they deserve to be treated as such.

Birds

What better travel buddy to have than a bird? The kings and queens of the sky can make your travels that much better as they add spice and flavor to your trips. If you have a particularly well-socialised and calm bird, it makes it even easier when you travel. With certain airlines allowing them in the cabin, your bird may get a chance to soar in the cabin if it is well-mannered. When you do travel, however, especially on the road, be sure to secure your bird. The last thing we want is the cage falling over and the bird hurting its wings. That would be bad. Again, this may sound cliche but also pay attention to the type of pet bird you have. Some particular birds aren't meant for this and smaller birds will be scared most times. However, as we mentioned before, the earlier you start tour travels with your pet, the more accustomed they will be to travel.

Rats

We know that most people aren’t even accustomed to rats being pets yet, let alone the ability to travel with them. Well, we’re here to tell you that you can indeed travel with your pet rat if you so wish to. When they are well-socialized, rats are excellent pets that can thrive in good company. Their pocket size also makes it easy to move up and about with them without making crazy logistical arrangements. Now you can’t bring a rat on a plane but on road travel, you can commute up and down with them. So start getting your pet rat socialized and soon the two of you can travel the world together.

Ferrets

As unconventional as they can seem as pets, especially in a world where everyone owns either a cat or a dog, ferrets are easily one of the most suitable types of pets to travel with. They are calm, entertaining, and enthusiastic, always seeming to be down for some adventure. Though you can’t take them on flights, ferrets can be a great on-the-road pet. What you will need to be careful with however is the fact that ferrets are very curious creatures, so you can’t let them roam beyond a place you can see. They will scurry away and be lost in their travels. We’d hate for you to lose your buddy this way. Also, for pets as unconventional as ferrets, you should check the local guidelines and regulations before just going anywhere. It might end up being a problem in certain areas and we don’t want that too.
