Started by a group of high schoolers in late October, the video stunt spread across the internet rapidly and has drawn in celebrities, sports teams, and politicians for the simple act of freezing in dramatic positions. The biggest winner of the viral trend is clearly Rae Sremmurd, whose song "Black Beatles" soundtracks most of the videos. In the weeks since the Mannequin Challenge began, "Black Beatles" has shot up the Billboard Hot 100.
The song finally landed at No. 1 this week, dethroning the Chainsmoker's "Closer" after 12 weeks at the top. (Amen.)
