She Asked Rude Kids To Be Quiet During Movie, Mom’s Response Is Going Viral

Rebecca Boyd was looking forward to going to the movies with her 12-year-old daughter Ashleigh. It had been a long, tough week, and she thought both her and her daughter needed a good night out.

They had already decided which movie they were going to watch, so the only thing left to do was buy the tickets and some snacks.

Loud Teenagers

The pair entered the theatre and found their places. Unfortunately, they were seated next to a loud group of teenagers who wouldn't stop talking and laughing the entire time.

After about half an hour into the movie, Rebecca turned around and confronted the rude kids.

They Laughed In Her Face

"I turned around, and I said, 'You know girls, we paid for this movie just like you did. Could you guys keep it down?'" Rebecca recalls.

"They just laughed. After I spoke to them, they seemed to not care. They just laughed in my face."

Waiting

The teenagers sitting behind the mother and daughter didn't stop laughing and kicking their seats throughout the entire movie. Rebecca was furious.

She waited for her moment to get the rude girls alone without causing a scene at the theater, and that moment came when the movie ended.

Peace Offering

Rebecca left the theatre, and there, she saw the two teenagers chatting with a boy. The angry mom approached them and gave them a piece of her mind.

Then, just a few days later, she received an apology from the rude girls. But would Rebecca accept this strange peace offering?

The Mom Found Out

Kyesha Smith Wood had allowed her daughter, son, and step-daughter to watch Cinderella at a theatre near their home.

Her son, however, was quick to tell Kyesha of his sister's rude behavior as soon as they got home. She knew she had to apologize to the mother and daughter for their children's behavior.

She Wrote An Apology

Kyesha posted her apology on Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page hoping that Rebecca would see it.

The post has received over 250,000 likes!

Humiliated

“This is a long shot, but I am looking for the woman that was at Tannehill Premier tonight seeing Cinderella at 7 pm,” the post began.

"I dropped my teen-aged daughter, stepdaughter, and son off at the movie. My son later told me, much to my humiliation and embarrassment, that my girls were rude and obnoxious during the movie."

Evening Ruined

Kyesha continued with her heartfelt post, "The woman I'm looking for addressed them and asked them to be quiet, and they were disrespectful."

"After the movie, she approached my girls and told them that her husband had been laid off and this was the last movie she would be able to take her daughter to for a while, and my girls ruined that for her."

Please Message Me

"If you are this woman, please message me. I can assure you that these girls are being strongly dealt with and appropriately punished," Kyesha continued.

"This rude, disrespectful, and awful behavior is unacceptable, and they owe you an apology. My husband and I are having them write your apology letter tonight, and we would like to pay for your next movie and snacks out of their allowance. Please message me if this is you. I apologize for their disrespect."

The Response

A few days later, Rebecca responded to her post. “I am the mom from the movie theatre,” she commented.

“I had taken my daughter to see Cinderella. I was very upset and disappointed in the girl’s behavior…the note from their mom brought me to tears and shows there are still good people in the world.”

In Contact

Rebecca didn't expect to receive such a heartfelt apology from the girls' mother, and the two mothers were soon in contact.

Kyesha wanted to meet Rebecca to apologize one more time, and the two women made a plan to hang out that very same week.

Apology Letter

Kyesha handed over the apology letter from her daughters to Rebecca along with some cash meant for their next movie.

She hoped that Rebecca would forgive her daughters, who ruined their trip to the cinema.

Not Easy To Hear

"It wasn't easy to hear. It's a hard pill to swallow when you hear your children aren't acting right," Kyesha said.

"But I know that they weren't raised that way, and I knew that it had to be corrected immediately."

She Gave Her Hope

"You approach kids that are acting up, and you make your kid apologize for bad behavior," she continued.

Rebecca was thrilled. Not only did she get money for another movie with her daughter, but she also met an amazing woman who has changed her view on the night's events. "It shows me that there are still good people in the world. People that care," she said in an interview.
