Hidden Disney World Features No One Knows About

More Than Meets The Eye

Who doesn’t love Disney World with its endless amusement and impressive displays of imagination that you get to immerse yourself in! But have you ever wondered if there was more to Disney World than meets the eye? Because there is.

Here are a number of secret features you never knew existed in everyone’s favorite theme park.

“Chewie Mode”

The new Star Wars ride in Disney World has a secret feature called “Chewie Mode”. It takes a lot of work and a full group of friends to access it, but if you get it right you get to fly the falcon with Chewbacca!

This feature brings the level up a few notches for a thrilling and challenging game! It's a race against the clock and it’s much harder than you might think.

Edible Plants

This rumored secret would be an easy one to prove. It’s said that all the plants in Tomorrowland are edible. So, next time you’re there, maybe ask the staff, or try one for yourself!

Although eating plants at a theme park would be highly inadvisable, even if they are edible! We hear that just because a flower is edible, doesn’t actually mean it tastes nice...

Pet Cemetery

The Haunted Mansion is one of the favorites in Disney World. Little do people know, however, there’s a hidden pet cemetery located within it which is used as a graveyard for deceased animals.

During the holiday season, the tombs are decorated with ribbons to keep things feeling festive - creepy! But maybe not as creepy as this...

Haunted Apartment

In Walt Disney’s old apartment on the main street, there’s a lamp at the window. The lamp's light is usually always on, but sometimes it will randomly flicker and turn off.

This is because Walt Disney is said to haunt it. He turns off the light in there to this day. Whether or not you believe this one is up to you! But what’s next is truly surprising!

Doritos

We bet you had no idea that the famed Doritos were invented at Disney world? Well, neither did we. Dorritos were first created in a restaurant named Costa De Frito in the 1950s.

It’s needless to say that Doritos went on to become a household name nearly as well known as Disney World itself. Well, maybe not quite, but close!

Epco

The theme park, Epco, was not originally supposed to be a theme park at all. It was built with the intention of becoming a futuristic neighborhood where people could live and experiment with advanced technologies.

It would have been cool to see this map out as the social experiment it was designed to be but it’s also equally as cool as a theme park. Plus, we’re already beginning to live in a futuristic, technologically advanced world!

Vanilla

When was the last time you were in Disney World? Do you remember how it smelt? Sweet and warm like a big inviting hug? Well, that’s because vanilla is sprayed out into the main street.

There's a hole that pumps scents of vanilla into the main street. Its purpose is to make you buy food. But it’s also used to make the place smell like a world of sweetness!

Lingerie

Surprisingly, there used to be a lingerie store on the main street. It was popular during its time and even had its own store mascot named the Wizard of Bras.

It’s no surprise that the store is no longer standing. Apparently, people were a lot more relaxed about child-friendly stores back then!

VIP Club

This is something that’s always been speculated but never confirmed, until now. Indeed, there’s a secret club in the famous theme park that is invitations only.

The public is not allowed in and it operates on an almost invisible level. Only members know what kind of lavish amenities the VIP club offers!

Disney Jail

Disney is a place for fun, joy, and laughter but for some, it’s also a place to create mischief. With its huge crowds of people, it's no surprise that a few bad eggs slip in. This is why Disney has its very own jail.

There's a jail in Disney that’s reserved for holding disruptive guests who usually get caught by security who don’t wear uniforms. That way they can blend in with the guests.

 Underground Tunnels

Ever wonder with all the shows and Disney characters performing every hour, on the hour, that you never see them rushing to and fro the stage? Well, that’s because they use underground tunnels.

Beneath the park, walking literally below the cement under your feet, cast members walk to attend shows. They also get to completely bypass massive groups of people and adoring 6-year-old fans!

Real Gold

The craftsmanship that goes into Disney’s theme parks is often overlooked by everything else they have going on. The senses seem to get completely overwhelmed!

But next time you visit It’s A Small World, take a moment to appreciate that its building is painted using actual real 22-karat gold!

Splash Mountain

Splash Mountain is probably one of the most popular and desired rides of Disney World, but we wonder if it would have been so popular if the park decided to go with its original name…

Originally, Disney was going to name the ride, ‘Zippity River Run’. Although it’s a fun name to say, Splash Mountain just makes so much more sense!

Secret Menu

Probably the best-kept secret of Disney World is that there are entire menus of ‘secret foods’ that you can order if you know where to ask for it.

If you’re visiting Disney World in Orlando anytime soon, go to the All-Star Movie Resort and ask for their secret menu. They’ll hand you a briefcase. Once you open it, look at the viewfinder that shows you the secret menu items inside!
