As they say, you never know what goes on behind closed doors... but at least you know what it looks like from the outside AND IT'S HAUNTING!
Take a look at easy ways to transform your door into a Halloween celebration (in less time than it takes your DoorDash to arrive!)
For this Halloween, scratch the idea of having decorations all over your house (save that for Christmas). Let your front doors be the key to spookify those who knock for treats.
And you can even make one in JUST 15 MINUTES! Here’s how >>
It doesn’t take 70 Days to preserve your door this Halloween... you can actually get “door afterlife preservation” faster than you can put on your vampire makeup.
STEP 1.
THIS is Super Affordable! You only need FIVE materials.
- White Party Streamers (from your party supply store)
- Scotch Tape
- 2 white paper plates
- Black permanent marker
- Tape Measure (the kind you use when building a house)
STEP 2. Measure your door.
Know the width of your door by using the tape measure. Take note of the dimensions as you will need this for the next step.
STEP 3. Grab the party streamers. With the width of your door for reference. Make sure to cut the party streamers 1-10 inches beyond the measured length of the door.
For example: If your door is 40 inches wide, then cut your party streamers in 41 to 50 inches in variation. You’ll learn WHY when you reach step 4!
STEP 4. Mummification process. Take your party streamers and tape. Start taping the party streamers on the top of your door going straight across the side.
Keep in mind that it shouldn’t go over on the corner of your door if there is an excess length. But how?
Fold the excess length, and tape it only over the front of the door. If the streamer goes over to the opening of your door, it will be hard to open and close your door.
You don’t want your art to get destroyed too! Now here’s the best part...
STEP 5. Go crazy! You can now tape the party streamers in criss-cross as if you’re tying your shoes. Go from left to right, or versa -- there’s no rules!
The more distressed your pattern appears... the more mummy it looks like! Cover as much the surface of the door as you can, but leave a small space on the center because this is the special hack...
STEP 6. Eyes on the door. Grab your two paper plates and a black marker.
Draw a black circle in the center of each plate. When you hang them, your door will look right back at you -- and 100% freak out would-be trick-or-treaters.
STEP 7. The final form. Set the eyes on the door by sticking tape on the back of the plates.
After you’ve taped it, you can tuck the eyes underneath the party streamers to give it a mummy effect! Check out the full effect on the next page...
Now… how do you level up your mummy game?
Here’s a sneaky and highly spooky effect...
BONUS STEP: Add More Parts You can tape a black poster board first before wrapping your door. It creates a more mysterious effect for the spaces left uncovered by your streamers.
You can add cut-outs of the hands, and you can even place your shoes below the door so it will look like his feet! We gotta ask… what do you think of Bats?
Swarmed in Bats Cut shapes of bats from your excess black poster board.
You might want to play more with the drawing of the eyes so that he looks so confused from suddenly swarming of bats on his tomb!
The Angry Mummy Oh, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed from their thousand year slumber.
Make your mummy look more menacing when you shape the eyes differently using a neon paper to reflect his grumpiness well!
***Are you ready for the advanced course?*** Maybe next year, you can create more than just a mummy door.
Here are some spooktacular concepts!
Come thru to these doors and be ready to get some scary good ideas! Mr. VicDOOR Frankenstein This is perfect if your door is green. But if not, you might want to wrap your door in green poster board.
Use a trash bag for the hair and cut it in zigzags. For the eyes, use the basic paper plates technique. Then grab an electrical tape for his lips and stitches!
Come In DYING to See You Door Cover the door with clear plastic wrap to protect it. Then apply red paint to put the message you want to display.
Add some hand splatters to make it look more creepy! Once dried, wrap again with plastic to protect it.
The Bat Door THIS IS EASY: Download and print a template of a bat. Then use it as a guide to trace bats on the black poster boards.
Cut and tape the bats flocking around your door -- but make sure to tape only the body of the bats so that you can fold their wings up as if they’re flying!
Nice to Eat You All you need is a black marker and two poster boards to experience getting eaten by a monster. Cut the white poster board in a shape of enormous teeth, and hang it inside the frame of your door.
Create the eyes with a neon poster board and a black marker, then paste it on the upper walls.
Hanging Hands Grab clear plastic gloves and different kinds of ribbon available in your house. Add plastic containers and fill everything with sweets.
Practice self-serve trick or treating by hanging out the candies right at your door!
