Ridiculous Vintage Bridesmaids Dresses That Nobody Should Ever Wear

When thinking about weddings, people often think that the only dress that matters is the brides. Though it is true that all eyes are meant to be on the bride for the big day, the gowns of her bridesmaids are just as important, especially since they will be walking down the aisle with her for all to see. This means that choosing the bridesmaids dresses are just as vital. Sadly, over the years, there have been many failures when it comes to the bridesmaid’s dresses. On this list, we go through the major flops, headband disasters, color catastrophes, and more! Ready your eyes because it is about to get ugly.

Obviously, the bride in this photo wasn’t satisfied with the bouquets of flowers for her big day. Instead, she had to have an entire garden on her bridesmaids’ dresses. Judging from the faces of the bridesmaids, they aren’t too pleased with her decision, and, honestly, we can’t blame them. As if dressing the child in the bold print wasn’t bad enough, they also have gloves that match their shoes.

Apparently, dressing like a rainbow was all the rage back in the day. Poofy sleeves and hats also seemed to be a major fashion trend. This particular look is quite similar to Rachel’s bridesmaid dress on the hit TV show Friends. Just like in the show, the dresses in this photo weren’t a big hit - take it from the flower girl.

Winter weddings are often a dream. This wedding, on the other hand, took an unfortunate turn at the fur muffs and headpieces. Things are really thrown off the rails with the flower girl, who doesn't match the purple satin (lucky for her!). And we don’t even want to know about where the poodle and the penguin came from.

Choosing dresses for the bridesmaids can be challenging, especially when trying to suit everyone’s needs. When looking for inspiration, this bride obviously drew it from curtains. Whether the choice was intentional or not, one thing is for sure, they certainly blend in perfectly with the décor.

The rule that no one in the wedding party is allowed to wear white besides the bride is obviously ignored by this wedding party. Even the groom can be seen in the background wearing a white suit. The thing we really can’t understand is the hoods, which give the group an odd, saintly look. Maybe, the bride didn’t really want their faces to be seen? Either way, they certainly make quite an impression.

Aside from white, one of the other colors that is generally known not to wear at a wedding is the color black. Apparently, this bride had other intentions and went against protocol, choosing this somber color for her bridesmaids to wear on the “happiest” day of her life. Luckily, for the bridesmaids, once they are done at their friend’s wedding, they can reuse the outfit for a funeral or Halloween party.

This particular bride has an obvious obsession with the color peach, and wanted it to be displayed all over her bridesmaids, much to their dismay. Even the accessories – the large hats, white gloves, and buckets of flowers – couldn’t save these ladies from this disaster and they all know it, especially the bridesmaid on the far right.

Theses bridesmaid took a wrong turn at Neverland, Perhaps the bride wanted to dress her ladies as fairies to create an enchanted feel, but these outfits are more of a nightmare than a fantasy. Everything from the gowns to the wings make the bridesmaid look like childish rather than elegant. On the bright side, they have their next outfit for Halloween.

There is a lot going on in this picture – from the brides’ glasses, to the large hats on the bridesmaids and their awful patterned dresses - theses ladies look liked they stepped out of the Little House on the Prairie. The ones who are suffering most of all are the two little flower girls in front. Both of their bonnets look as though they are on too tight and that massive bow under the chins must be unbearable. It is clear from their faces that they would rather be anywhere else, and we don’t blame them.

Though the metallic gold certainly creates for quite a showstopper, the fabric would be better used as a blanket in space then on a wedding party. We are guessing that the ladies had their faces blurred out for good reason because, honestly, who would want to be revealed wearing a dress like this? These bridesmaids’ dresses look to be out of this world, and, honestly, they need to stay there.

They say that “beauty is pain”. Well, this photo is definitely giving us pain. Everything from the three-tier dress to the flower bouquet headdress makes us want to look the other way. It appears as though the Renaissance and a garden had a child and it is ugly. Also, this is one of the rare instances where the bride is just as bad, maybe even worse than her bridesmaids. We're sorry, but her neck has got to be hurting from carrying that floral arrangement on her head all day.

The combinations of all these colors in this picture is enough to give anyone a migraine! The floor length purple dresses have absolutely no correlation to the vibrant red, yellow, and blue flowers that they are holding in their hands. Likewise, the bride and groom look like they belong in an entirely different wedding party. Needless to say, the vision for this wedding day was completely off.

It is the real-life Spanish dancer emoji come to life! Unfortunately, it isn’t in the best way. These bridesmaids turned Spanish dancers in their red flamenco dress look like they are ready to perform a dance number rather than supporting their friend. Overall, the gowns are distracting and take away from the main focus of the day – the bride!

Out of all the bridesmaids that we have seen so far, this lovely bunch isn’t that bad. They have on a chic blue and white dress that fit the time but also look quite elegant. Though the dress meet the right marks, they are severely striking out when it comes to the accessories. Throwing on a blue net over their heads wasn’t the brightest of ideas. However, the bride might have been thinking that bees could possibly attack, especially when wearing giant corsages on their upper arm. Safety first!

There is nothing better to pump you up for your wedding day then wearing sweatbands on your forehead Though we can hardly see anyone getting up in these bubble gum pink gowns. Then again, the bridesmaids have got to stay in shape in order to carry the weight of those giant sleeves. Overall, these outfits are harmful on the eyes and the headbands should have stayed in the gym and not down the aisle.

Honestly, we have no idea what was going through the brides’ mind when she decided that these headbands would be a good idea to put on her bridesmaids. Maybe she thought that it would look sweet? Or maybe she wanted to publicly humiliate them? Either way, these giant floppy bows do nothing for these bridesmaids but make them look like utterly ridiculous, and the flower girl is not having it!

Her is another perfect example of a winter wedding gone wrong. The bride obviously loved the holiday so much that she decided to dress her two bridesmaids as Santa Claus himself, complete with a jolly red gown and snow-white hem. These two ladies look like the are ready to deck the halls rather than walk down the aisle. Sad to say, but the Christmas season was ruined for them that day.

Spring weddings are absolutely lovely. From the weather to the abundance of flowers, it is hard to hate the season, but, unfortunately, these bridesmaids’ dresses make it possible. Despite the sickly pastel colors, the straps are awkward and bring attention to all the wrong places. In addition, the overall outfit makes them look as though they are on their way to a sleepover rather than a wedding ceremony. All they have to do is replace the yellow bouquets for pillows and they would be good to go.

We blame the rose-tinted glasses for obstructing the view of the bride and groom, causing them to overlook how hideous the bridesmaid’s green dresses were. In actuality, it is not so much the color that we have issue with, but rather the floral poncho that covers them. The sight of the bridesmaid’s outfits actually help make the groomsmen outfits - with ruffled shirt and all – not look as bad. At least they knew better to stay away from the floral print.

These dresses are something straight out of Handmaid’s Tale, complete with the red hood and floor length gowns. The only difference is the split in the dresses to reveal a floral pattern, which doesn’t do much to draw away from the horrible mistake that was made in choosing these gowns. Along with the men’s shocking haircuts, this wedding party is too far gone to be saved.

Lately, the color yellow has been making a comeback, and rightly so because it is a beautiful color. However, this bridal party is why many have chosen to put the color in hiding for so long. The vibrancy of the bridesmaid’s gown are so blinding that you could hardly see the puffy sleeves and flower crowns . . . almost. The only one who seems genuinely happy about the day is the flower girl, who is smiling as bright as her sun colored gown.

It seems that the bride got more than she bargained for when she booked her wedding venue because it is apparent that they also provided the bridesmaids dress. Blending perfectly into the background, each gown is patterned with tropical leaves, embracing the atmosphere of the venue a little too much. Let’s just hope that none of the bridesmaids go missing in the bushes behind them.

Surprise, surprise – yet another floral bridesmaid dress. Apparently, it was all the rage back in the 60’s, and this bridal party is no exception. In fact, they actually take the gowns to a whole other level with the bouquets and white shoes, showing some contrast to that eye offensive dress. Thankfully, this floral trend came to an end later on in the years.

Another trend that has thankfully ended with the era are hats. These ladies are prime examples that hats that big is more than excessive, and it is clearly written on each of their faces, especially the poor bridesmaid shunned on the floor. Given her facial expression, it leads one to wonder if the bride and her remained friends after the wedding. After being forced to wear a gown like that, it’s a tough call.

With so much blue satin and floppy hats, its hard to notice that the bride is nowhere to be seen. She is probably somewhere in the back regretting her decision on the bridesmaids dresses. Meanwhile, her groom doesn’t seem to mind the gowns, embracing them happily. We doubt that the same could be said for his soon-to-be-wife.

This bride thought that it would be a brilliant idea to pick out every color of the rainbow and put it on her bridesmaids’ dresses. Sadly, the reality of her decision was more tragic than magical. Instead of an elegant bridal party, the group looks like a superhero team bent on taking down every piece of fashionable clothing. The fact that they are paired with matching ribbons on their bouquets does not help the situation, but makes it harder to avoid the wedding album.

There are some brides that want their maid of honor to really stand out among the bridal party. In this case, the maid of honor is standing out, but not for good reasons. Though the other two bridesmaids’ gowns are not any better, their color is a little less hard on the eyes when compared to the maid of honor, who is stuck in a horrible orange and red number. Guess people do crazy things for people they really care about. This is certainly one of those moments.

Cherries are sweet and tasty - these dresses, however, leave a sour taste in your mouth. From the stockings to the ruffled bodice, the bridesmaids look as though they are suffering while snapping a picture with the groom. We can only imagine what the bride had to do to convince her friends to wear these awful dresses. Perhaps, the pearls around their necks made up for some compensation? Whatever the case, we hope they were paid in some way because even though they resemble the decadent fruit, these gowns are far from sweet.

Spring is the air, as well as a lot of pollen thanks to the abundance of flowers at this wedding. As if the giant bouquets weren’t overwhelming enough, the bridesmaids dress only add to the extreme amount of floral. Hopefully, the wedding was indoors. If not, then its likely that the entire wedding party was attacked by bees.

The bridesmaid in this photo didn’t need to have bouquets on account that their dresses made up for all the florals. Instead, they opted for white hats that look to small for everyone’s head and a lace top that looks more like a bib. One thing that is coherent, besides their horrible style, is the color lavender. Though lavender is known to be calming, sadly there is nothing peaceful about this party.

Polka dots are often a favored pattern that appears on a lot of clothing. Usually, there is not much that can go wrong with the simple pattern. However, in this case, things went really wrong, so much so that the ladies refused to have their identities revealed. It’s safe to say, that this may have been the last time either lady wore polka dots again.

While the bridesmaid’s dresses are certainly not conventional, the true fault here lies with the groomsmen and their horrible suits. Instead of being apart of a wedding, they look like they are going to their first prom. Though they failed in the fashion department, one thing is for sure, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen are equally as bad as the other.

Breaking with tradition, these bridesmaids adorned suits instead of gowns. Though they were ahead of their time, their attempt to take the world into the future could have been better. Those giant pink bow ties and puffy sleeves leave little to be desired, We wonder what the bride had to do in order to get her friends to wear this. We can only guess there was a big compensation afterwards.

Out of the dresses that we have seen so far, these are definitely not the worst, believe it or not. The color is decent and matches nicely with the bouquets. The problem that arises here are, once again, the hats. Why, bridesmaids continue to insists on wearing hats indoors, we will never know. It is admirable that these bridesmaids try their best to grin and bear it.

Of course, when hats just won’t do, this bride went to the extreme and chose to add umbrellas for the bridesmaids to hold. You know, to be protected from the natural elements . . . indoors. Unfortunately, nothing can protect them from these outfits. One thing is for sure, they are going to have a fun time walking the bride down the aisle.

This whole picture just scream awkwardness as everyone is stiff with locked smiles. Clearly, no one is enjoying themselves, and we believe the polka dot disaster gowns have something to do with it. Everything from the black belts, the pattern, and the color is just shameful. There is nothing truly positive about the gowns, and the bride seems to feel the same.

For this wedding, there was an obvious theme, and the bridesmaid’s dresses tried to follow it. Sadly, instead of looking classic, they look as though they just rolled out of bed. The Chinese collar and the silk material are lovely, but there is something missing with these gowns. Whether it is the fit of the dress or the flowers in their hair that resemble rollers, these bridesmaids look ready to take a nap rather than walk down the aisle.

Now we are no foe to having a pop of color, but these bridesmaids take it way too far! The vibrancy of the colors alone could easily cause blindness and the mixture of the oranges and pinks make for an unpleasant sight. It’s a good thing that the ladies are all wearing veils because we wouldn’t want to show our faces either if we had to wear these gowns.
