2. Columbine Hero Dave Sanders
Mark David Chapman stands behind him, and only ten minutes later, he shoots and kills Lennon.

In Columbine High School in Colorado on April 20, 1999, students Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris killed 12 students and 1 teacher, and injured 24 students. The death toll may have been much higher if it was not for teacher Dave Sanders who warned students about the attack and urged them to escape or find shelter, as seen in the picture above. Sanders is considered to have saved dozens of lives.
3. Concorde Air France Flight 4590
Unfortunately, while searching for students to help, he encountered Klebold and Harris in the school hallway and was shot twice. He later died of his injuries before paramedics arrived.

Air France Flight 4590 traveling from Paris to New York struck runway debris on July 25, 2000. The debris caused a blown tire and punctured fuel tank upon takeoff. One engine burst into flames and subsequently failed, causing the plane to crash into a hotel.
4. Robin Williams
All 100 passengers and 9 crew members were killed. On the ground, 4 people were killed and 1 was critically injured.

5. Bear Attack
Just days before, he snapped this picture with a young fan.

On September 21, 2014, five students were hiking in West Milford, New Jersey. The bear stalked the hikers, forcing them to split up. Unfortunately, 22-year-old Darsh Patel was attacked by the bear and killed.
6. 1943 Lambert Tragedy
This photo was taken just before the attack. It was recovered from his cellphone, which had a puncture mark from the bear's teeth.

7. Titanic
Their military glider crashed after a faulty release from a c-47 cargo plane. The accident was caused by just one bolt, which loosened and separated a wing from the plane.

The famed Titanic, deemed the unsinkable ship, hit an iceberg and sank on its first voyage from Europe to the United States on April 14, 1912. Of the 2,224 passengers on board, only 705 survived.
8. Pacific Southwest Airlines Flight 182
This picture, thought to be the last image of the ship afloat, was taken when the Titanic departed.

Above San Diego, California, PSA Flight 182 crashed into a private Cessna aircraft mid-air on September 25, 1978.
9. Paul Walker
All 135 passengers aboard Flight 182, 2 Cessna passengers, and 7 bystanders on the ground were killed.

During a performance by the band Great White in a nightclub in Rhode Island, the pyrotechnics accidentally set fire to the sound insulation foam in the walls and ceilings. This image was taken just as the first flames become apparent.
13. Deadly Niagara Falls Ski Jump
You can see the guitarist in the background noticing the fire that will ultimately take the lives of 100 people.

Robert Overacker attempted to jet ski over Niagara Falls as a stunt to raise awareness for the homeless. After jumping over the edge, his parachute failed to open and he fell into the water below.
14. Malaysia Airlines Flight 17
He died at the Greater Niagara General Hospital one hour later. He was 39 at the time.

15. Everest Explorers George Mallory and Sandy Irvine
There is still controversy around who shot the plane down, but unfortunately, all 283 passengers and 15 crew members were killed.

In 1924, George Mallory and Sandy Irvine were attempting to make the first assent of Mount Everest, the world's tallest mountain. They did not make it to the top, and were last spotted on the North Ridge.
16. September 11, 2001
This photograph is the last one of them. Mount Everest's peak would not be reached until 1953.

9/11 is widely thought to be a day that changed the course of modern history. On this day, 19 al-Qaidea terrorist group members hijacked four planes. Two of them were flown into the World Trade Center in New York.
17. James Dean's Final Picture
This picture is taken just before the second plane flew into the South Tower. In total, 2,996 people were killed from these attacks.

19. Japan Air Flight 123
A few months later on September 12, 2003, he passed away from complications from diabetes.

12 minutes into the flight, Flight 123 suffered an explosive decompression on August 12, 1985. The plane crashed on Mount Takamagahara 32 minutes later.
20. Joy Division's Ian Curtis
There were delays in the rescue operation, which caused the death toll to be much higher. Sadly, all 15 crew members died; however, four of the 509 passengers survived.

21. Hot Air Balloon Disaster

In the third deadliest hot air balloon accident on record, 10 people and the pilot were killed after crashing into power lines. The balloon then caught on fire.
22. 1961 U.S. Figure Skating Team
This occurred during a hot air balloon sight-seeing tour in New Zealand in 2012.

The 1961 U.S. Figure Skating Team was on their way to compete at the World Championship in Belgium when their plane crashed in Brussels.
All 72 passengers and the farmer whose land they crashed on were killed.
