What You Need To Know About Jennifer Aniston

It's been more than a decade since Jennifer Aniston appeared on the famous 1990s sitcom, Friends, but Jennifer Aniston still remains a Hollywood superstar and A-list celebrity. It seems as though Jennifer has always been in the tabloids, and she doesn't seem to be leaving the public eye anytime soon.

She has been linked to famous men like Brad Pitt and Gerard Butler, but most recently it was her split with husband, Justin Theroux on February 15th, that shocked the public. Being a celebrity is tough, you're every move is on display and you're constantly being watched. Because of this, we may think we know everything there is to know about Jennifer Aniston, but you'll be shocked when you read these surprising details about her!

She Hated The Famous "Rachel" Haircut

"The Rachel" was debuted in 1994 after Aniston's stylist, Chris McMillian created the highlighted and layered shaggy cut. Although America fell in love with the hairstyle and began copying it, Jen did not feel the same way.

In an interview with Glamour she said, "I was not a fan of the 'Rachel'.     That was kind of cringey for me. Looking back-honestly, even during that time-I couldn't do it on my own. I needed my hairstylist attached to my hip."

Her Marriage To Brad Pitt Began as a Blind Date

They were once known as Hollywood's "Golden Couple, but surprisingly enough, they met through normal standards,a blind date. On this date, they both clicked and were married on July 29th, 2000 with a lavish ceremony held in Malibu.

The wedding had tens of thousands of flowers, a gospel choir, four bands and an elaborate firework display. Sadly, in March 2006, they announced they were divorcing after four and a half years of marriage.

She Wanted To Be a Therapist

During a 2012 interview, she said, "I don't know why. I was just always the girl that people would come and talk to about their problems, and I still am."

Because of this, she claims that a therapist would have been her ideal alternative career aspiration, had she not become a successful actress. Aniston has also revealed to the public that she has seen a therapist for several years herself.

She had Odd Jobs Before Being Famous

Like many actors and actresses, she had to find jobs to keep her afloat in between acting auditions. She began as a bike messenger, but she admits that she "wasn't so good on the directions."

She then began waiting tables, Jen claims that she was even worse at this job, "I was very friendly but clumsy and generally incompetent." She also began working as an extra in different television series including Search For Tomorrow, which her father was starring in.

She Had a Non-Traditional Honeymoon

After their 2015 wedding, they decided to bring an entourage of their closest friends with them on their honeymoon. This included, Jason Bateman, Courtney Cox, and Chelsea Handler.

Justin told the media that, "we had thought about it; we could just do a normal honeymoon, or we could go with some friends, keep the party going, relax, and have fun. It was really special, it was really beautiful." Sadly, it looks like this memory will now be tainted by their recent break-up.

At the young age of 11, Jennifer accomplished something most artists dream of. One of her paintings hung in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

During this time, she was a student at the Rudolf Steiner School, which is an elementary school with a curriculum based in drama, artistic movement, instrumental and vocal music, and crafts. Although her focus was on acting, she showed a significant talent in the art.

She Struggles With Dyslexia

In 2015, Jen revealed that she had been diagnosed with dyslexia, which surprisingly came as a relief to her.

She mentioned that growing up, she didn't think she was smart because she could not retain information. She said her struggle with reading hurt her self-esteem and was one of the reasons why she barely read growing up.

She Can't Go Underwater

While doing promotions for her 2014 film Cake, Aniston revealed that the pool scene took at least 30 takes because she was so terrified of going underneath the water. 

As a child, she was riding a bike around a pool and accidentally drove the bike right into the water. At that time she could not swim and so she floated to the bottom until her brother managed to pull her out. She said that she hasn't been able to get past the experience.

She's Cross-Eyed and Blue Isn't Her Natural Color

Jennifer has stated in past interviews that she has "a little bit of a lazy eye, like a cross-eye" that needs to be corrected when she does photoshoots.

She said this is a result of a weak muscle in her right eye. Another fact about Aniston's eyes is that they are naturally brown and she wears contacts that are tinted blue.

Jen Owns Pat the Dog

If you've watched Friends you'll know that Pat the Dog is the name of the big white dog that is seen in Joey's apartment.

The dog became a running gag on the show and when Joey was forced to sell everything in his apartment, Ross went to the trouble of tracking the dog down to buy him back for Joey. In real life, Aniston is the actual owner of Pat. He was given to her by a friend as a congratulations gift for getting the role of Rachel on the show.

She Had a Gothic Period

Like many of us, Aniston also succumbed to the ever embarrassing "goth phase" in high school. Aniston claims that she looked like a, "goth nightmare" back in the 1980s.

She says that, "At one point, my hair was shaved about an inch above the ear. I had the short hair and the big black outfits and the black liquid eyeliner that made me look like a vampire, with all sorts of pins sticking out of my body parts."
