Foreshadowing
The officer just looked at Chris as if trying to capture what his face looked like in his mind before he had to leave the base forever.
Chris stared back for what felt like ages until he finally broke the silence. “Fredericks, what are you doing?”
Fredericks had clearly already heard the news about his discharge and merely said, “I know you did this. You’ll regret doing this to me!” He then turned and walked towards his quarters.
