Castles and graveyards aren’t the only places where creepy and bone-chilling things happen.
All over the world, visitors or parishioners have sworn to have witnessed the unexplainable. Normally, it could be written off as absurdity, but it’s an entirely different story when it ends up caught on camera.
Swarm Of Bugs
It was like a plague out of the bible. Millions of tiny blank insects swarmed around one tiny church in Peru right in the middle of a sermon about the end times.
Devotees calmly sat in their pews as the white floor slowly turned pitch black and writhing. Anyone else would be running and screaming for the hills.
Climbing Woman
It might have looked like something out of a Cirque du Soleil performance.
A woman in a flowing white dress was caught crawling up a large pillar to the balcony above. What sent chills down everyone’s spine was how much grace she did it with. Imagine a ballet mixed with a Japanese horror film.
Blinking Statue
In 2016, a haunting video of a church in Mexico was sent to dozens of experts.
The Jesus statue sat stark against the deep shadows white candlelight danced across the skin. Suddenly, the eyes opened, stared at the camera, then closed again. No one could find any sign of footage tampering. The priests also refused to watch the clip.
Praying Painting
A painting of the Virgin Mary icon was said to actually “pray.”
It would only happen while standing at a distance, but people swore her lips would move. Some said the video gave the illusion of movement because it was so shaky. But how did it explain the movement off-camera?
Wandering Boy
Late one night, while the building sat empty, security footage picked up an unexpected visitor.
A little boy calmly strolled down the aisle. But when he was about to walk off-frame, he suddenly vanished. It was like he dissolved into nothing. The film was inspected but had no signs of tampering.
Demonic Guest
One day, in the middle of prayer, more than one church member saw what they called a “demon” appear at the back door.
It would come and go, never making any mischief. But anyone close to it insisted it felt evil. Things turn even stranger when the priest said he never saw it – despite being directly in his field of view.
Strong Haunting
In Spring Hills, Pennsylvania, one tiny church is well known for being extremely haunted.
The pastor at the time went crazy and “sent his followers to God” at the end of the commune. People who come even close say they can hear screaming and crying – even though it’s locked and abandoned.
Possession
Miracle healing and demonic possession. You name it, and there’s a holy place that’s had it.
One citizen made a rare appearance in a Montana village one Sunday morning. The girl was said to go into convulsions before levitating off the floor a couple of inches and speaking in a long-dead language.
Missing Bibles
A priest in a Norwich chapel noticed that his bibles would go missing every night.
Even though they appeared the next day in the basement, it was still annoying. He set up a hidden camera to try and catch the culprit. The next day, the bibles were relocated … but nothing caught on film.
Peeking Girl
Called the Ghost Head or just “creepy girl peeking out from behind a pillar.”
One guy swears he saw a face watching him. But as he gets closer and rounds the corner, there’s nothing there. It’s probably one of the few videos with a logical explanation though.
Ghost Prayers
Locals in one small village took their church’s roof collapse as a bad sign.
They didn’t even bother repairing it. Instead, they left it empty. One day, however, over a dozen white-cloaked figures appeared inside. At first, it was terrifying, but they quickly realized it was a student’s art project.
Wedding Guest
Having an unexpected guest show up at your wedding would be stressful.
But having a dark, ghostly figure walk across the aisle would give everyone a heart attack. The guests of the New Mexico church were quickly sent into a panic and the nuptials were moved to the reception location.
Red Eyes
In the deep south of the US, a lonely wooden chapel houses a couple dozen people every week.
Even though it’s quite young, the ground it sits on is old. The land is said to be cursed because of past atrocities against the indigenous people. One couple stopped going because his wife’s eyes started to drip red.
Witch Burnings
It’s not just Salem that has witch stories.
A local temple in Germany is famous for the sudden bursts of light and heat that randomly appear all over the property. It’s the site of some pretty horrific burnings and hangings in the early 1600s. The spirits there are pretty furious.
