For Karl Baker, this was supposed to be a casual day-off where he could relax and have some time with his family. He had a demanding job but made sure he was always there for others and always pushing his needs aside to help people.

Baker was feeling great that day. He was finally getting some time to treat himself. He even dressed up in his favorite suit that day, even though he was going there alone.
All he needed to complete his relaxing day was some good food. Eventually, not only did he not eat but it turned out to be one of the worst days in his life.
The restaurant was very popular in town and Baker was excited to finally go. As soon as he got there, he saw a huge waiting line which ended outside the restaurant.
Despite his hunger, he decided to wait in line and enjoy his day off no matter what happened. An unexpected incident made him regret going there in the first place and wasting all that time.
Even though Baker was a picky eater, he knew exactly what he wanted that day. After checking the menu, he was ready to order.
He knew every member of the staff there and he was waiting forward to greet them and spread his good vibe to them. As soon as he got to the front, his smile disappeared from his face.
To his surprise, there were new faces there. Well, Baker loved to meet new people so he thought to himself that would be nice to meet the new staff.

She didn’t even say hi to Baker and she looked annoyed. She was also chewing gum and didn’t even have eye contact with Baker. He was overwhelmed by her attitude, but things were about to get worse.
Without saying much, she managed to make Baker feel awful. Plus, what he wanted was not available in the restaurant so he had to choose another dish. Thanks to his love for the restaurant, he chose right away his second favorite dish.
Another surprise came to disappoint this man more.
It turned out that neither his first nor his second choice was available at the restaurant that day. He was unlucky and this rude waitress was not helping the situation at all.
He remained calm and tried to find another dish to order. That’s when the waitress's attitude crossed the line.
The lady was impatient and didn’t give the time Baker to think about his order. “Listen, mister, if you’re not going to order, you need to leave,” she snapped and rolled her eyes.
Baker was now starting to lose his temper. He wasn’t going to let her speak to him like that; ‘’I want to speak to your manager’’, he said.
The manager came right away. Baker was now confident that this was going to end soon. But the manager was even worse; “What’s the problem here, sir? You’re holding up the people behind you,” she said.

“I don’t serve men like you,” said the rude waitress. Both she and the manager laughed while pointing at Baker. That was it. He wasn’t going to let these women be such disrespectful to him anymore.
What did she mean by ‘men like him? He looked around the restaurant and could see everyone’s attention was on him. Some even had their phones out to record the whole thing. He felt so embarrassed. He was going to make clear the kind of man he was.
Baker left the restaurant frustrated. No one has ever been so rude to him ever before.
All he wanted was to have a relaxing day off but his evening turned into a nightmare. But he was going back, this time he would make them pay.
The next day, Baker was determined to go back and make the two women realize their huge mistake. He puts on his uniform and heads back to the restaurant. That’s right – Baker was a cop.

It took some time for the rude waitress to realize this police officer was the man she was scolding the previous day. But when she saw Baker, she was shocked.
She owed Baker an apology and he was confident that she was going to apologize. Otherwise, she would have to deal with the consequences.
Baker decided to give her a second chance; he was going to greet her politely again and see how she would respond. This proved how kind of a man he really was.
Even though she treated him badly, he was open to making a new start with her. But that was not going to happen.
As soon as he got into the restaurant, he received heartwarming smiles from everyone. Customers would come to greet him or even thank him for being a police officer.
Some people even applauded, and that caught the waitress’s attention. Everyone could see the horror on her face.

She apologized on behalf of the employees that were disrespectful and rude to him and even offered him coupons for the restaurant. She also pledged to publish an internal review of her co-worker’s actions.

The news reached Alexandria’s police department and they gave an announcement saying, “The police department enjoys a lot of support from the business community in Alexandria and that’s why this was such a shock.” People were very unhappy and they were not holding back.
We can all see how easy it is to destroy everything in one day. The restaurant lost most of its customers in the very first days after the news made it through social media.
However, they did their best to make things better but the public was not satisfied.
“We will continue to look into the situation and will take the appropriate actions at the conclusion of this review,” stated the restaurant. But people still continued to skip the restaurant for months in protest.
There was only one way to save the restaurant.
The manager had to fire both ladies that were rude to Baker. These two women were not only fired but also disallowed to visit the restaurant ever again.
This decision made everyone happy.
It turned out that karma is real. These women got fired and kinder people got their positions.
The restaurant started to have customers again and the incident slowly faded away.
Baker had experienced many similar incidents when not wearing his uniform. People treated him differently when he wore casual clothes from when he wore the police uniform.
