Jonathan Lewis couldn't understand why he was so tired all the time. He would sleep for at least 3 hours during the day after work and then go to bed at 9 PM. Something wasn't right, and Jonathan began to worry he was seriously ill.
Then, he finally figured out why. The cause of his fatigue wasn't an illness. It was his new home.
A New Home
Jonathan spent ten years saving up for a new home. He often worked overtime and weekends to earn more money.
When he finally bought the home of his dreams in Walton, Liverpool, he was beyond excited. But, sadly, his happiness would be short-lived.
Exciting Times
Jonathan remembers the day he moved into his new house like it was yesterday.
He unlocked the front door and burst into tears. He had worked so hard for this, and now it was time to celebrate! But unfortunately, he never got the chance to throw a housewarming party. His house was cursed.
A Dream Come True
Jonathan's main reason for choosing this particular house was that he didn't have to make any renovations.
But after a few days of living there, he noticed something odd. "There was a wire coming out where the previous owners had the fridge, but I didn't know where the wire was plugged in, so I knocked through a bit of the plasterboard to see what was there," Jonathan recalls.
Tired
He also began to feel extremely tired during the day.
Jonathan felt as if he hadn't slept in months, and it didn't help that he was a light sleeper. His fridge was too loud, and he decided to replace it.
Strange Wire
As Jonathan was moving the fridge, he noticed a wire that ran into the wall panel next to it.
He grabbed a hammer and made a big hole to remove it. But what he saw inside the hole made his hair stand on end.
A Doll
Jonathan saw a set of eyes staring at him from the hole. He screamed and jumped back.
"I knocked through a hole about the size of a fist, shone a light in, and there was a doll just sitting there," he recalls. But this was only the beginning...
Freaked Out
Jonathan was so freaked out by the doll that he called his friend to tell him about it.
His friend calmed him down and told him he would come over in half an hour, but Jonathan couldn't wait that long.
A Note
Being a curious person, Jonathan decided to investigate this empty room himself. And it wasn't long before he found another bizarre item inside.
He felt his heart pounding in his chest as he read the mysterious note that was placed next to the rag doll.
Emily
"Dear reader/new homeowner, thank you for freeing me!" the note read.
"My name is Emily. My original owners lived in this house in 1961. I didn't like them, so they had to go. All they did was sing and be merry. It was sickening."
"Hope You Sleep Well"
"Stabbing was my choice of death for them, so I hope you have knives. Hope you sleep well."
Jonathan laughed out loud as he finished reading the note. He finally understood what was happening.
Hilarious
"Some of my friends have told me to put my house back on the market and move out, but I think it's just a laugh. I'll be honest, I found the whole thing hilarious. I'd probably do the exact same thing", Jonathan said.
But was it really just a prank?
Fail
"The letter says 1961, but the estate agent said when she was showing me around that the kitchen was only done four or five years ago. I think it must have been put there then because the paper doesn't look very old and looks relatively recent," he continued.
The paper looked new, so Jonathan figured it was just a silly prank. But he wondered if this creepy doll had anything to do with his constant fatigue.
Haunted House
Some of Jonathan's friends believed that his house could actually be haunted and suggested he call a priest.
And the more he thought about it, the more he feared they could be right. So what did he decide to do?
Prank
Fortunately for Jonathan, this was just a harmless prank pulled by the previous owners.
But would Jonathan put the doll back in the wall for the next homeowner to find it?
