"Honey, I'm home!" he shouted. No response. "Are you here?" Still nothing. He walked over to the living room, where his wife would usually be reading a book or watching TV, but she was nowhere to be seen.
He knew his wife was home because her car was there. So, why wasn't she responding to him? Little did he know, a surprise was waiting for him in the bedroom.
John and Lisa
John and his wife Lisa met in college and quickly fell in love. They dated for four years before John proposed to her. Of course, Lisa said yes!
They have been married for five years and are still in love with each other. Like any other couple, they've had some arguments here and there. However, they always worked it out. Sadly, this time would be different.
Successful People
Both Lisa and John have successful careers and love their jobs. Lisa has her own business and works from home; her husband is a top executive in a corporate office.
Although Lisa was happy that her husband was doing well and working hard, she wasn't pleased that he had to go on so many business trips. She wanted to spend more time with John, but he was always busy. Then, one day, she drew the line.
Not Healthy
John worked more hours than Lisa and was always tired. It started to cause problems in their marriage, and Lisa talked to him about it over the phone while he was away on another business trip.
It was a difficult conversation for her, but she felt like she had no other choice. Lisa meant everything to him, so John decided to take an earlier flight home and apologize again in person.
Finally Home
John arrived home at about 9 PM. He opened the door and called out Lisa's name. He couldn't wait to see the look on her face!
John walked into the living room and then the kitchen, but there was no sign of Lisa. Had she fallen asleep already?
Almost There
"That's weird," John thought. Lisa never went to sleep that early. "Was she feeling unwell?" John walked up the stairs and approached their bedroom.
He was about to open the door and surprise his wife when he heard a strange noise. It was Lisa speaking to someone in a sweet voice. Who was she talking to?
Sweet Talks
At first, John thought that she was talking in her sleep. There was no way she would invite someone into their bedroom.
But then he realized she was awake. She was clearly talking to another person in the room.
Confused
John decided not to open the door. Instead, he ran down the corridor, trying not to cry. Was his wife cheating on him? Or was this just a big misunderstanding?
Once the sound stopped, John entered the room, hoping he wouldn't see another man next to his wife.
Alone
When he walked into the room, he saw Lisa lying down in their bed, fully hidden under the blanket. He gently touched her, and she jumped out from under the sheets in a panic. There was no one else in the bed with her, however.
“You terrified me!” she said. "When did you arrive?"
Liar
John said he felt bad about the argument and wanted to come home. "Who were you talking to earlier?" he asked her. "No one," Lisa replied.
But John knew his wife was lying. She kept looking at the closet next to the bed.
New Pet
“Is something in there?” John asked his wife as he approached the closet. He quickly opened the closet door, preparing to punch whoever was hiding in there.
But when he opened the closet, a cat jumped out at him. It ignored John and left the room. John was confused. They didn't have any pets.
Not Their Cat
“Did you get a cat while I was away talking to me about it?” John asked his wife. “No, I’d never do that," Lisa said.
“Do you remember my friend Amber from college? Well, this is Scar, Amber's cat," she explained. But what was it doing at John's house?
Cat Lover
“I know you’re not fond of cats, especially cats inside the house, so I didn’t want to tell you," Lisa admitted. John was still confused, however.
“Why do you have him?” he asked. “Amber and her husband are away on a trip and needed someone to look after him," Lisa explained.
The Reason
“You know I love cats but never had one because of you, so I just wanted to look after it for a while”.
“Do you really want a cat that much?” John laughed. “Yes,” Lisa replied. But what her husband said next surprised her.
Good News
“I don’t like cats being inside the house because of their fur getting everywhere. I also hear that they pee everywhere, but if you really want one this much, who am I to get in your way," John said.
"Omg, really?" Lisa shouted. "Thank you, thank you so much!" John wanted the cat to keep her company while he was away so she wouldn't be so lonely.
