Her manager stared at the enormous tip in disbelief. He couldn't believe that someone would leave Shikira so much money. Could it have been a mistake?

Shikira had heard of other waitresses receiving generous tips, whose bosses let them keep the money. After all, most waitresses in the United States earn between $300 and $500 a week, so a tip like this was life-changing to them.

But her tip was now in her manager's pocket. But what was his condition?

Shikira's manager was asking for too much. There was no way she could do it.

Shikira decided to contact the local news to share her story in the hope that the woman would see the broadcast.

She felt like Denny's management had mistreated her and shamed her by suggesting she should have been more attentive at her job.

“You’re going to tell me that it’s my fault that I didn’t get the information on a customer when they left and tipped me?” Shikira said.

A Mistake

The investigation confirmed that the woman didn't intend to leave a $4,000 tip. She had made an error while paying the bill.

Although Shikira was sad that the lady didn't actually tip her $4,000, she knew she had done the right thing by getting in touch with her and double-checking her bill.
