Sick To His Stomach
Was this some kind of joke? Thomas’s eyes glance around the room and he had never been so disgusted. How could they do something like this? This is how animals live, not a family of five. Then suddenly, he could smell it, almost taste it, like curdled milk on his tongue.
He felt sick to his stomach. Then, within a few moments, his disgust turned to anger and his blood started to boil. There was no way they were going to get away with this. Thomas turned around and left the house of horrors. These nightmare tenants were about to get a taste of their own medicine.
Optimistic Man
Thomas Ravaux was an optimistic man, to say the least. He always tried to look on the bright side of things, after all, life’s too short, right? So when he met a couple with three well-mannered children who had inquired about renting an apartment from him, they had seemed nice enough.
After filling out the requisite paperwork they had passed all the financial and security checks with flying colors. There were no red flags and Thomas was confident that he had made the right decision. He had no idea how wrong he was.
Spotless Apartment
Thomas took it on himself to make sure the apartment was ready for the family. After all, he wanted them to feel comfortable, he wanted them to feel like they were at home, and not just a random apartment.
He lightly renovated the space by giving the outside a new coat of white paint, making sure all the fittings, door handles, and pipes were in good shape. He even hired a wood polishing machine and buffed the hardwood floors until they gleamed. After a few days of renovation, Thomas took a deep breath of relief. But this landlord had no idea what was coming.
Getting Home From Work
Thomas arrived back at his home after a long day's work. After cuddling his dog and taking a sip of beer, he nestled onto the couch and put the television on. His wife was cooking up a feast in the kitchen and their kids were out with their friends, so Thomas intended to catch up on his favorite television shows.
But as he flicked through the channels, he saw something that left a shiver up his spine.
A Familiar Face
On the news, there was a breaking news segment in which the reporter claimed an ‘incredibly dangerous man was on the loose.’ For some strange reason, as soon as Thomas saw the mugshot of the man, he felt like he recognized him. But as hard as he tried, he couldn’t put his finger on it.
Thomas changed the channel and put the manhunt for an ‘incredibly dangerous man’ to the back of his mind. Little did he know, he shouldn’t have.
Moving In
With everything in order, the seemingly-perfect family began to move in. After handing his tenants the key to their new home, Thomas saw just how excited they were for this brand new chapter. He beamed from the inside; happy he was able to give a family a home.
But two months later, he still hadn’t received his first rental payment. Then, four months passed and still, Thomas had received nothing. At first, he thought nothing of it and chalked it down to a banking error. Surely there had been some kind of mistake? He tried to stay calm but he had a terrible feeling in his stomach.
Calling The Bank
Thomas quickly made a call to his bank. Perhaps the payments were not reflecting in his bank account for some reason? But with bills to pay and his own family to support, Thomas needed that money now.
But when the woman from the bank answered the phone and gave him an answer Thomas felt flush with anger. Was this a joke?
Grown Suspicious
The woman on the phone informed Thomas that no rental payments had been made to his account, ever! He thanked the bank for their help and hung up. Then, bursting with panic, he dialed the tenant's number repeatedly and they never once answered.
Maybe the family's father was merely busy? Thomas could have sworn he told him he worked pretty much all day. But when he tried calling for the fifth time, Thomas’s suspicions started to grow, it was clear the family was avoiding him. Thomas had always been a pretty patient man, but this was a getting a joke now, enough was enough.
Hoping To Confront Them
Thomas hopped into his car and raced over the tenants home. After pulling up to the pristine apartment block, he walked down the drive. He knocked on the door, but there was no answer. He tried again, but still no answer.
He had suspected as much, so he whipped out his spare key. He was going to give these tenants a piece of his mind! He slowly opened the door but what he saw inside left him feeling sick to his stomach. Why would they have done this?
Inside Their Home
Thomas stepped inside the once beautiful apartment that he had spent time and money fixing up, and saw that it had been completely trashed! His angered eyes scanned the room and he saw heaps of garbage reaching the ceiling, broken furniture lying around, and toys scattered pretty much everywhere.
Dirty dishes were piled up high on every surface, and the stench was absolutely unbearable! The smell of rotten food lingered in the air and it was so bad it made Thomas’s eyes water. Just when he thought he had seen it all, what he saw next left a shiver up his spine.
Damages
Thomas held his head in disbelief. How could anybody live in such filth? Like animals living in the wild. He glanced across the room and saw holes in the walls, clearly, someone had punched them in a fit of rage! He even saw scratch marks on the floor.
His eyes took it all in as he stood with his mouth turned up in disgust. He was very rarely lost for words, but this time he was. He took a few moments to calm himself down, and then his blood started to boil with anger; he knew how he could get his revenge.
A Heartbreaking Sight
Thomas could feel tears well up in his eyes. The damage his tenants had caused to his apartment was heartbreaking. But this wasn’t just any apartment; it actually belonged to his grandfather, and when he passed away Thomas inherited it, making the tough decision to rent it out.
Thomas needed the money and with a house and family of his own, it had been a Godsend. But it had all been ruined. Thomas swallowed the big lump in his throat. Well, he would show them. He was madder than he had ever been before. Then he smirked, he knew what he would do.
Getting His Plan Ready
Leaving the house of horrors, Thomas whipped out his phone and called up his lawyer to tell him his plan. The lawyer gave him the go-ahead, and Thomas knocked on his neighbor’s door. He asked the neighbor if his tenants had been at the apartment recently, but he said it had been empty for weeks.
Furious, Thomas made another call. There was no way these disgusting tenants were going to get away with this.
Found Them!
Luckily for Thomas, his tenants were listed. He quickly searched a directory and found their new address. He went back to the disgusting apartment and fully inspected the damages. They had left a mountain of rash for him to clean up.
Thomas’s hands fisted into balls and felt sweat trickle down his forehead. Something inside the once mild-mannered Thomas had finally snapped.
Payback
The truck very loudly pulled up to the drive, and once the men started to huddle inside the building, they were left holding their stomachs and rolling their faces in disgust at what was inside. Immediately, they got to work and loaded the entire mess onto the dump truck.
Once Thomas told them his plan, they burst into laughter and applauded the landlord. Both Thomas and the group of men knew that the nightmare tenants were going to get their comeuppance. They were going to get a taste of their own medicine.
Loading The Mess
Thomas helps load the final mess onto the truck and was left feeling sick at the sight before him; broken furniture, garbage, paper, dog feces, rotten food, and dirty dishes, were all piled onto the truck in a stinking heap.
Finally, his apartment was cleared of trash, and Thomas followed the truck to its destination–outside the tenants’ newly rented apartment, just a few blocks away. They had no idea what was coming.
A Messy Surprise
The truck backed up loudly with a beep-beep and then tipped the heap of trash right onto the rude tenants’ driveway.
Onlookers gathered and couldn’t help but gawk at such a ghastly delivery. What was going on? But Thomas smiled when he thought of the rude people’s reaction when they saw what surprise he had left for them.
Going Viral
Thomas uploaded the video of his revenge onto Facebook and Youtube, and it quickly gained traction around the world’ Local news stations picked up the story, and the original video has garnered over a million views. Most commenters praised Thomas for teaching his nightmare tenants a lesson in common decency.
One commenter wrote: “Love it!! This needs to be done in the United States! I’ve seen some disgusting tenants in my neighborhood!” But not all who saw Thomas’ revenge video have praised him.
Think Next Time
Some viewers have voiced their concerns: “Not a bad idea but if these tenants can’t pay rent and moved to a new place which is not their place you just made a big mess for a new landlord who now can sue you for jumping on his property. Think man. I know you’re upset but you put a new landlord in the middle and he did nothing to you.”
But Thomas stands firmly by his decision.
Speaking His Truth
“It was carnage inside. Everything was totally destroyed. The carpet is messed up, there are holes in the walls, all the paintwork needs re-doing, and we will need to disinfect it all. The smell is unbearable. I had a legal representative witness the damage before we emptied the place,” Thomas says in his defense.
And he has a message for his tenants.
Shame On You
“This is how this flat was returned to me. Living like that with three kids, bravo. Not to mention the food that has gone bad in the fridge. The food offered to you by restaurant owners from their heart! Shame on you. Good luck to your new landlord.”
Thomas also had to pay for all the damages to his once immaculate property.
A Happy Ending?
He added: “…I loaded everything into a dumpster and brought them back home…I met the authorities and we talked…”
For now, Thomas says he’s not worried, “The old tenants had to clear the sidewalk and bring everything to the dump Tuesday night so everything is cleaned.” And just like that, Thomas was able to move on with his life.
