Johnny Carson was an iconic entertainer and comedian who reached people across their television sets and into their lives every single day. While everything on screen looked very happy, lighthearted and funny, his world was vastly different when the cameras were not rolling and people were not in front of him. Despite what the media showed at the time, and what Carson himself tried to portray to the world, he actually battled with many of his own inner demons throughout his whole life. In fact, it seems that now that the truth is coming to light, Carson was actually very lonely and misunderstood by many in the industry as well as his personal life. Carson passed away in 2005 at age 79.
It was not until recent months that many of the true colors of what his life was like had come to light. There was so much more to this man than the world knew for the longest time. From personal woes that involve his family (something he tried very hard to keep under wraps) to professional setbacks due to a certain image producers wanted him to keep; Carson was held back a lot from who he really wanted to be and it is not until now that we learn who the real Johnny Carson was. He will always be the funny and warm man we all saw on the small screen, but what we discovered about him changed the entire way we have seen him since.
