Laura was happily in love with her husband of seven years, Gary. Like any couple, they had their ups and downs, but they always forgave each other and worked on their relationship.
But then, one day, Laura found out that her husband was having an affair.
Different Schedules
Two years after Gary and Laura got married, Laura started a new job, and their schedules rarely matched up anymore.
Laura worked mornings in the office, and most of Gary's shifts at the bar were in the evening. This was when Laura got a crazy idea that she thought would save their marriage. But, sadly, she was mistaken.
Surprise
Laura left work early that day and headed to the shopping center. She was ready to do anything to save her marriage.
She wanted to surprise Gary with a delicious dinner and a bottle of his favorite wine. While she was paying for her groceries, she noticed a lottery ticket holder.
Lottery Ticket
"I'll have one of those too, please," she told the cashier, pointing at one of the lottery tickets.
"I can check the ticket for you if you wish, " the cashier replied. "Oh, that would be marvelous!" said Laura. What happened next shocked her to the core.
Millionare
"I think you just won fifteen million dollars..." the clerk said quietly. "Let me double-check with my manager."
"WHAT?!" Laura shouted. She couldn't believe her ears.
Confirmed
The clerk came back a few minutes later wearing a big smile on his face. "Congratulations!" he said. "You are now a millionaire!"
Laura was thrilled. She was going to save her marriage. As soon as she got into the car, she booked two flights to Hawaii for herself and Gary. Sadly, her husband's reaction to the big news wasn't what she expected it to be...
A Note
"Gary! I have a big surprise for you!" Laura shouted as she entered the house. But Gary wasn't home. In fact, he hadn't been home since the morning.
That's when she saw a note on the kitchen counter.
"Goodbye"
"Dear wife: I'm writing you this letter to tell you that I'm leaving you forever," the note read.
Laura burst into tears after reading the next sentence. How could he do this to her?
Shocked
In his letter, Gary explained how unhappy he was with their marriage and that he didn't love her anymore.
He also wanted a divorce as soon as possible. Laura was confused. She knew their marriage wasn't perfect, but his words shocked her. He continued, "Either you don't care about me anymore, or you've found someone else. I know it!"
Your Sister Carla
"I'm leaving you. Your EX-Husband P.S., don't try to find me."
I'm moving away to West Virginia, with your sister Carla. We're in love." After crying for a few minutes, Laura started to laugh. What was going on?
Homophobic
Gary had always been homophobic, but Laura let it slide because she loved him.
This is why Laura never told him about her sister's past. Then, still laughing, Laura took out her phone and began writing a message to her husband.
Carl
"Have a nice life, Gary, and enjoy your new life with my sister Carla!"
Laura continued, "By the way, my sister is transgender. She used to be my brother, Carl!"
A Trip To Hawaii
"Oh, and by the way, I just won the lottery! Fifteen million dollars. I booked us a trip to Hawaii just half an hour ago."
"But don't worry, I'll find someone else to go with!" Laura continued.
Loser
"Tell my sister that I never want to see her again. You're a homophobic loser, and you two deserve each other."
Goodbye, fool!" Laura instantly felt better after sending this message to her husband. She went to Hawaii with her best friend, and they had the best time of their lives. But how did Gary react to the news?
No Contact
Gary hasn't reached out to Laura since that day. He still lives in West Virginia and so does Laura's sister.
Our guess is that they have broken up after Gary read Laura's message, but who knows...
