16. Hardest Goodbye Ever
My mother was in the hospital for stage 4 lung cancer. I have a nightly routine where I check my emails, social media, etc, set my alarm for the morning and put my phone on silent/do not disturb for the night.
One night I just didn’t do it for some reason, something just told me to leave it on. I woke up from a phone call at 6 in the morning saying my mom was having complications, not to get on the bus for school, and that my aunt would be picking me up to take me to say our goodbyes.
