Girl Throws First Pitch At Game, Then Sees Catcher's Face

Face She Didn’t Expect

The catcher caught the ball and stood up straight. But then he took off his catcher’s helmet and stared at the Delia. But she wasn’t ready for what she saw. She thought that she was just going to the game to watch her favorite team play.

But now, she was standing on the pitch surrounded by thousands of people, all staring at her in her situation. She was staring at a man she didn’t expect to see. And it would have her running with tears in her eyes.

Delia Jameson

Delia Jameson was an ordinary 12-year-old girl. She loved the color pink, and she still had a collection of dolls and teddy bears from her childhood.

But unlike most other girls her age, her father wasn’t home very often. She was proud of what he did, but it meant that he didn’t get to see her as often as he would have liked. But he couldn’t help it. He was a hero.

Col. Randy Jameson

Randy Jameson was like most men, except that his job was a little different from others. He worked for the United States Military as a colonel. He decided at a young age that he wanted to protect his county and his family.

But he understood that it wouldn’t be easy, especially after he met Jennifer Vasquez in his senior year.

Love At First Sight

Randy had his ambitions of joining the military while he was in high school, but then he met a girl with a similarly ambitious personality. Her name was Jennifer Vasquez, and Randy felt drawn to her immediately.

He found out that she felt the same, and only six months later, they were dating. And things took an even better turn once they finished high school.

Married

Randy decided to propose to Jennifer, and just out of high school, the two were married. Not long after that, they even had a baby on the way. They knew they’d name her Delia.

But Randy’s unique job didn’t make raising a child easy. Families with military spouses often face a lot more difficulties than normal households.

Missing Her Father

Fast forward 13 years and Delia was sorely missing her father. He had been deployed yet again to defend his country. It was something she only recently understood but something she could never get used to.

He would be gone for months at a time. Her favorite possession was a baseball mitt that her father bought her for when they played together. But it had been six months since she had last taken it out and “tossed ball” with her father.

A Gift From Abroad

One day Jennifer had something important to give Delia. It was from her father. He had bought both his wife and his daughter two tickets to a baseball game. He wanted them to go and have fun even if he couldn’t be there.

Delia was over the moon. She couldn’t believe her father had bought her tickets to the game. But she had no idea the turn that things would take once she was at the stadium.

Day Of The Game

The day of the game arrived, and Delia and her mom drove to the stadium to watch the baseball game. It reminded her of when her dad would take her there. Baseball was their way of bonding.

Delia sat down and got ready to enjoy the game with her mother. But she had no idea that she would soon be taken out of her seat and put at the center of attention for everyone to see.

The Announcement

Delia was sitting in her seat when she heard an announcement. The caster called out her name. He announced that she was going to throw the first pitch. Confusion washed over here. Soon everyone was watching her.

They explained that it was because of her father’s service to the country she would get through the first pitch. He couldn’t believe it. But there was more to than just that.

Throwing The Ball

A moment later and Delia stood nervously on the pitch, ready to throw the first ball. All eyes were on her. But she could never have prepared herself for what was about to happen on the pitch.

She tossed the ball just how her father taught her. The catcher expertly caught it. But there was something about him that she couldn’t put her finger on. But once she realized what it was, it would be too late.

A Person She Didn’t Expect

The catcher caught the ball and stood up straight. But then he took off his catcher’s helmet and stared at the Delia. But she wasn’t ready for what she saw. She thought that she was just going to the game to watch her favorite team play.

But now, she was standing on the pitch surrounded by thousands of people, all staring at her in her situation. She was staring at a man she didn’t expect to see. And it would have her running with tears in her eyes.

Her Father

The man that she was staring down was none other than her dad! He had organized the whole surprise. As soon as she recognized him, tears started rolling down her cheeks. She broke into a run towards her father.

She felt like she was dreaming. The fact that he was right there on that pitch with her. Everything felt surreal, but she ran towards him anyway.

A Long-Awaited Hug

She landed in his arms and hugged her father tightly. She hadn’t been with him in half a year, but she still felt like it wasn’t real. The crowd cheered at the father-daughter reunion in front of them.

It turns out that Randy had come home early from his deployment and really wanted to surprise his family. He knew how much his daughter missed him and knew she’d love the baseball game as well.

A Lot Of Organization

It took a lot of organization on his part to get everything ready. Randy contacted the owners of the stadium and both teams to make sure everyone was happy with what he wanted to do.

Because of his military background, they were more than happy to make this moment for him and his family. Even his wife was in on it for their little girl. He lived in a hotel just to hide from them.

A Game To Remember

After they hugged each other, they made their way back to the stands, where there was an extra seat next to where Delia and her mother were sitting. They all sat together as a reunited family.

Delia watched the game and felt her father’s arm around her. She was excited for things to get back on track and to continue bonding with her father after the uncertainty of him being deployed.
