Former Wrestling Stars: Where Are They Now?

WWE has been a part of many's childhood and teenage years! You do remember all those Undertaker and Kane banter leading to big fights, right? Or John Cena's "You Can't See Me" move? Of course, all these big names including the Rock made it to Hollywood and we pretty much are in sync with how they look now. 

But what about the others - Edge, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Triple H? Where are they? What are they doing now? Unfortunately, with the passage of time, many bid adieu to this mortal world and you didn't even get to know about it! So, what are your favorite wrestling stars up to these days? Let's find out!

Kane

Glenn Thomas Jacobs, also known as his stage name Kane has been amongst the most famous WWE stars of all time. Although he was mostly overshadowed by Undertaker, do you even know what he's doing these days? 

Also, did you know that Kane is also an active political figure? You didn't? Well, in 2018 Kane took the decision to enter politics and won the mayoral seat in Knox County. Other than that, he's also an entrepreneur and has starred in movies like See no Evil!

The Great Khali

No wonder this almost eight-foot giant from India had been a fan favorite back in the day. His popularity was such that he even played a few roles in notable Hollywood movies. So, what is Khali up to these days?

Well, Khali has gladly settled in India as an inspector in the Punjab Police. Yep, quite an addition - don't you think? He also has a YouTube channel, where he keeps posting frequently!

Rick Steiner

Going by the stage name Rick Steiner, Robert Rechsteiner made a name for himself in the wrestling field. With his exceptional skills at tag team, fans went berserk over his skills.

He actually even proceeded to win eight separate times in the World Tag Team Championship! However, now he is working as a real estate broker! Quite a shift! 

Trish Stratus

Trish Stratus was the youngest member to join the WWE Hall of Fame.  Naturally, she was quite popular in the sport with many swooning over her good looks. So, where has Stratus been these days?

Before WWE, Stratus was a fitness model and after leaving WWE she went back to open her Yoga studio. Health is indeed, wealth!

Mr. McMahon

Well, this one pretty much everyone knows about but we had to include it! Mr. McMahon before becoming the CEO of WWE was himself a fighter! 

But now he is so much more - a film producer, an actor, and a businessman. He's also made quite some money out of it, thereby becoming a billionaire. Talk about success stories!

Owen Hart

Owen Hart is a well-known name in professional wrestling scene. Although he couldn't win many accolades, he's till quite respected in the fraternity. Unfortunately, a freak accident made everything go haywire. 

In 1999, Hart fell off a top rope when the harness went loose and failed. The young wrestler, resultingly, lost his life and a bright future ahead!  

Ken Shamrock

Ken Shamrock, other than his WWF gigs, was also known for his victory in the UFC Superfight Championship. Quite famous back in the day, what is he up to at present?

Well, Ken quit professional wrestling to take up martials arts in which he found immense success. His two sons followed in his footsteps but were not quite successful!

Lita

Amy “Lita” Dumas quit pro wrestling in 2006. She was also a performer and singer back then, at one point! She has her own musical band called the Luchagors. An album was released by the band the year after she retired. She went for a breast augmentation procedure under the knife in 1999! 

She now works for WWE as an analyst. She is still single, although she has been linked to Joseph Copeland and Matt Hardy.

Chris Jericho

Who can forget Chris Jericho? He was amongst the most sought-after WWE stars of the '90's era! Jericho has quite a few awards to him name including the World Heavyweight Championship! 

He joined Japan Pro-Wrestling later and continues to remain there for quite a while as well! Although still active in the ring, he is also an investor. He is a D1 Sports Training and Therapy co-owner.

Kelly Kelly

Kelly Kelly was quite a sensation back in the day, the early ones! But do you know her real name is Barbara Jean Blank? In 2012, Kelly Kelly left WWE to take up a few other things - what were those?

Well, Barbara made a name for herself as a famous TV personality and also appeared in quite a number of movies. You thought this was it? Well, we have many more to go!

Matt Hardy

Can you even forget Jeff Hard's older sibing, Matt Hardy? Probably not! Not only a great wrestler, Hardy also won many acclaimed championships. we forget about Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy’s older brother? 

Can you recall his girlfriend Lita who later cheated on him with Edge, who we will be coming to later in the article? Well, fortunatley Hardy is still active in the sport! 

Jeff Hardy

When we had already talked of Matt, how could we leave out Jeff Hardy? All three including Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy and Lita were a member of the Team Xtreme. 

Jeff went on to win the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship. But now he has quit everything and joined a music band called PeroxWhy. Quite a jump!

Paul Bearer

We are certain you recall this guy with the weird white makeup and long curvy black eyebrows? Although he didn't fight, but he was no less famous. We are talking about Paul Bearer, the maneger to Undertaker and Kane, among others. 

Because of his uncontrollable weight which at one point reached 500 pounds, Bearer had to undergo gastric bypass surgery. Despite losing 200 pounds, he unfortunately died of heart attack in 2013. Coming up next, Mark Henry!

Mark Henry

Marh Henry has been amogst the most famous WWE wrestlers of all time. But before entering, he was already a weightlifter and quite a successful one at that. 

His weightlifting expertise came in handy and Hery was able to perform pretty well, despite his weight. Later on, he lifted some of the most exclusive titles, including the WWE championship!

Big Boss Man

Ray Washington Taylor Jr was famous as Big Boss Man on the sets of WWE. Such was his greatness that he was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2016! 

Unfortunately, Big Boss Man couldn't be there to see this honor bestowed upon him. In 2004, Big Boss Man passed on at the age of 41 due to a heart attack! 

Brian “Crush” Adams

Brian Admas was a member of  WWF and WCW despite being and a wrestler. Back in the day, Adams was a sensation among the fans. After gaining momentum, Adams decided to try out boxing.  

Unfortunately, by then Adams had incurred many injuries which did not allow him to further his boxing career. Sadly, he passed at the age of 43 in 2007!!

Chris Benoit

Chris Benoit was another popular name in the wrestling game. But that's not what he's remembered for! Something quite sinister happened that left him tainted for centuries to come ...

Out of the blue, Benoit killed his wife and son in the June of 2007. He then went on to take his own life. This murder-suicide operation left Chris with a bad name and even worse reputation!

Booker T

Known as Booker T, his real name is Robert Booker Tio Huffman. With 6 world championships and 21 other titles to his name, Booker T has been quite successful. 

However, in the middle of his carrer, he took a wild shift from wrestling to video games and books. Did you know that Booker T appeared in more than 27 video games and also wrote 2 books? Well, now you do!

Kurt Angle

He only went pro in the ’90s, even though Kurt Angle wrestled in college. In all those days, he gained a bunch of titles and championship belts. He tried his luck with the other franchises after spending a while at WWE. 

At Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, he discovered plenty of success as well. Sadly, he has recently been suffering from various injuries and health issues.

Sable

Rena Marlette Lesnar or Sable, as you populary know her, was another famous female wrestler. Quite famous for her many marriages and sharp looks, Sable has been out of sight for quite some time. So, where is she now?  

Sable appeared in a few movies, TV shows and modelling shows as well. In 2006, she married Brock Lesnar, the UFC superstar! Coming up next - the great Shawn Michaels!!

Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels, born Michael Shawn Hickenbottom, is a title holder wrestler who is a known figure on TV. He also did work as a TV presenter, quite apart from acting! He is WWE ‘s main ambassador as well as the host of Shawn Michaels’ River Adventures. 

He has gotten married twice over all the years! His married life with Rebecca is by far the most latest one. They both exchanged vows in 1999, and they have two children.

Macho Man

No, we are pretty sure you know who Randy Savage, commonly known as Macho Man is? Did you know his professional wrestling career spanned over the past 32 years? Yeah, we are not kidding! 

Did you know that Macho Man really made a name for himself as an established actor? Yes, he's featured in Baywatch, Spider-Man, and Ready to Rumble in the past? Unfortunately, destiny had other plans for him as Macho Man sadly passed in a road accident in 2011! The reason of his death? Well, heart condition!

Stone Cold Steve Austin

Thanks to his injuries, Steve Austin decided to retire from pro wrestling. He garnered 6 WWF Championship titles in his prime! Since he went into acting after that, he did not leave the spotlight altogether.

In Nash Bridges and The Expendables, you might have even seen him. It is believed at the moment that he has a personal wealth of $45 million, which again is absolutely astounding.

The Undertaker

In the wrestling world, Mark William Calaway made a big splash underneath the title, the Undertaker. He continues to remain competitive as a free agent and in matches every once in a while. He has won 17 titles in the past and has been one of the industry’s greatest fear-inducing individuals. 

Wrestling aside, he went into property investment as well! He, as well as his wife, gets to care for animals at the moment through the fund they set up for this genuine enthusiasm.

Road Dogg

Throughout the ’90s, underneath the ring titles The Roadie as well as Road Dogg, Brian James made a big splash in the wrestling world. He was once in the United States Navy and, when it comes to training, he worked harder than his peers. 

It clarifies why he’s been so fit! He now appears to work for WWE as a producer as well as coordinator. Five more to go folks!!!

Batista

David Michael Bautista is a retired wrestler, better known as Batista, who is thoroughly having all the possibilities his retirement has to give. In the past, he has been involved in bodybuilding, martial arts, and acting! 

He is best known for playing ‘Drax’ in Marvel movies when it comes to his acting career. There had been a period when the officials were trying to frame him for steroid dosing, but it was not completely accurate.

Rey Mysterio

The right name for Oscar Gutierrez was Rey Mysterio. Millions of fans from all over the world were charmed by that masked fighter. Donning his Lucha Libre mask, in the ’90s and’ 00s he made waves in the industry. In the past, he has won the WWE Cruiserweight, the Heavyweight World Championship, and the WWE Championship. 

A lot of fans are surprised at how well he’s been aging. He barely looks much older than he once did! By participating in House of Glory, QPW and Black Destiny Wrestling, he continues to be active.

Triple H

Bit of trivia: Triple H originally stood for Hunter Hearts Helmsley, used by Paul Michel Levesque as the ring name. He tried his hand at acting and business after his wrestling days. He got hitched to Stephanie McMahon in 2003. In this industry, this enabled him to play certain roles. 

He is an entrepreneur and works at WWE as the Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative. He laid a foundation named Connor’s Cure together with his wife to battle Medulloblastoma and uphold a child that died from it.

Randy Orton

Did you guys know that in this business sector, Randy Orton remains productive? That successful actor was also in a show called That’s Who I Am. For the Smackdown brand, he presently performs inside the ring. It was alleged in 2007 that he’s using performance enhancing drugs. 

He refused to talk about this even to this day. He and his first wife, Samantha Speno, divorced in 2013. He got married to Kimberly Kessler two years later. Coming up next - on number one, the heartthrob, EDGE!!!!

Edge

The ring name Edge was used by Adam Joseph Copeland back in the day. Subsequently, the WWE Hall of Famer left the arena to make his mark in acting! For 31 championship titles, he ‘edged’ out other competitors. He also unveiled an autobiography in 2004. 

It surprised people to learn that he absolutely despised smoking! He clarified that back when he was a teen, he tried one of them. He merely didn’t understand why it had been so influential.
