Famous Last Words From Your Favorite Stars

What do some of the most famous, intelligent, or entertaining people have to say as their last words before they pass? Some utterances of these utterances are ironic, some are wise, some are loving, and some are even arrogant! But all of these celebrities had just one last thing to say right before they died.

1. John F. Kennedy

When a friend said, “you certainly cannot say that the people of Dallas haven’t given you a nice welcome, Mr.  President,” JFK responded with his final words: “No, you certainly can’t.”

At the hospital after being shot by assassin Mark David Chapman, John Lennon was asked if he was John Lennon; he responded with, “Yes, I am.”

3. Ernest Hemmingway

Before the famed author of The Old Man and the Sea committed suicide, he reportedly told his wife, “Goodnight, my kitten.” He was 61 years old.

In the December issue of Rolling Stone, President Obama graces the cover and inside there’s a tribute to the recently departed Leonard Cohen. But hauntingly, the last page, fittingly called “The Last Word,” features actress Carrie Fisher in an interview talking about drugs, fame, and finding happiness.

The actress and writer, who died of a heart attack at age 60 on December 27, also talks about death. “Do you fear death?” asks the interviewer. Fisher responds: “No, I fear dying. Anything with pain associated with it, I don’t like.

And I’ve been there for a couple of people when they were dying, and it didn’t look like fun. But if I was gonna do it, I’d want someone like me around. And I will be there!” Fisher was also asked if she’s happier now and said, “Well, I’m not happy about being older, except what are the options? But I’ve learned a lot. I trust myself. I trust my instincts. I know what I’m gonna do, what I can do, what I can’t do. I’ve been through a lot, and I could go through more, but I hope I don’t have to. But if I did, I’d be able to do it. I’m not going to enjoy dying, but there’s not much prep for that.

33. Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett died in 2009 with Ryan O’Neal at her side. Prior to her death she was visited by her son, Redmond, in shackles for parole violation and drug charges and wearing a prison issue jumpsuit. Reportedly her condition prevented her realising Redmond was in chains.

He held her and said “Oh my gosh” repeatedly. His father, Ryan O’Neal, told him “Don’t rattle your chains!” Her last words, “I’m happy. I’m ready.” were passed to O’Neal in a note.

34. Bing Crosby

Source Crosby was advised to never play more than a 9-hole golf game by his physician.  

However, in 1977 he played 18 holes, and afterward said to his pals: “That was a great game of golf, fellas.” He then collapsed just 20 yards from the course’s clubhouse and died from a massive heart attack.
