Took The Internet By Storm
Remember the video of four infants that surfaced in the early 2000s, lying atop of their mother’s chest and giggling like crazy?
The girls are now all grown up at 16 years of age and are in High School!
The Laughing Quadruplets
When Steve Mathias captured the video of his four little giggling baby girls, he had no idea that the video he was taking would become one of the most popularly shared clips around the world.
New Social Media Sensation
In 2002, a video of the four infants lying on their mother and giggling adorably in unison became a prize-winning clip on “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” A few years later, the show named the “laughing quadruplets” video to be the “Funniest Video of All-Time,” earning the Mathias family $250,000 and a place in home-video history.
With YouTube and Facebook being so popular nowadays, the clip got renewed attention.
Stealing Hearts
The clip has circulated the internet all over again and has become an internet sensation.
The four cute babies who stole viewers’ hearts in the clip are now fully grown 16-year-old girls.
Oprah Winfrey Show
They are entering adulthood and enjoying High School.
Embracing Individuality
The family appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show, and the four girls, Mary, Emily, Anna, and Grace, were definitely the center of attention on the show.
The quadruplets' mother Allison raised the girls equally. She always dressed them up in the same clothes, but they are now grown up and are embracing their individuality.
Different Hobbies
They are even sporting different hairstyles and have different hobbies.
Can't Stop Laughing
While two of the quadruplets are into digital art, the third is passionate about photography, and the fourth is pursuing a future with the orchestra.
When the girls' father, Steve, was asked how the video continues to be so popular online, his answer is simple. He says, “I think it’s just one of those videos you can’t not laugh at … There’s something about the syncopation of them stopping and starting laughing.
On Repeat
It’s just the contagious type laugh.”
The video of the giggling infants is a video that you could sit around watching on repeat for hours and laugh every single time.
Leaving Their Mark
We are all thankful that Steve captured that moment for us all to see.
There are only 70 identical quadruplets that exist around the world. The Mathiases didn’t take long to leave their mark.
Over the years, the family has appeared on other shows like The Tonight Show and were featured in a Discovery Health Channel documentary called Super Quads.
