It was a normal Sunday morning - the sun was shining bright, almost blinding. Landon Kemp was driving on the freeway - a road he had traveled on so many times before. However, this time something went wrong, very wrong. When Landon took the next right turn to switch lanes, an approaching vehicle soon changed his fate. A deafening shriek and suddenly everything went black ... When Landon next woke up, he was completely disoriented. He tried so hard to recall what had just happened. It had been a few days since that fateful day. "How is that possible?" Landon thought to himself. "I was just in the car and then ...." shivers ran down his spine when he thought of that terrifying accident.
He started recalling... car, road, boom... It was an accident! But that was not it! Landon suddenly remembered that he had met a few people that he didn't know about - his siblings from another life! Landon Kemp saw things he was not supposed to see. Once he told his mother - she was shocked! Her answer would make Landon stunned.
Julie Kemp, her husband Andy and their 8-year old son Langdon were returning home in their car after attending a church session. It was a bright Sunday morning and the calendar read 1997.
Their family would have been small but they were quite content with whatever they had. The Kemp family was pretty religious and they believed that the Lord Almighty was guarding them.
Neither of them had any clue that moments later, their life would turn upside down. Quite literally!
They were cruising down the highway when life played its nasty game. An ambulance was returning to its station and when it came to the same intersection as Andy Kemp’s car, something horrific happened.
The rushing Ambulance accidentally broadsided their car at the intersection and what happened next was utter chaos, blood, and gore because it was a serious accident!
Witnesses present there thought that no one would come out alive out of the car. Maybe they were true ...
“I remember him yelling. I remember it because that’s the last thing I heard from him.” Julie recalled what happened that day and the person she was referring to, was Andy Kemp, her husband.
Andy died on the spot because the impact was so huge. The car’s condition portrayed the impact and it was quite horrific.
Their family suffered a huge blow but there was more to come. A lot more!
After making sure that there was no hope left for Andy, the paramedics present there rushed towards Julie. They somehow extracted her out of the utterly damaged car.
She wasn’t breathing properly either and her situation too, wasn’t very good either. The paramedics somehow managed to stabilize her condition.
But what about Landon? Their 8-year old boy who was still stuck badly in the car!
With Julie being not completely conscious and Andy’s sad demise, the paramedics first thought that only the married couple was present in the car.
Thankfully, someone present there spotted a stray shoe that belonged to a kid. The sighting of the shoe baffled everyone present there because it indicated that there was a third passenger in the car but where exactly was he?
And why couldn't they see him?
As it turned out, Landon was sitting right behind Andy’s seat who was driving the car. The impact of the accident was so brutal that Andy died instantly while Landon too, suffered a huge blow.
He was crushed inside the car and get him out in one piece was a struggle for everyone present there.
Somehow, they managed to get him out but his condition shook everybody to the core.
The paramedics somehow pulled him out of the car and made him lay inside the ambulance. Before departing for the hospital, they checked his vitals and gave him first aid.
Landon wasn’t breathing and it made everyone present there sweat with worry.
Something crucial had to be done in order for him to survive.
Since Landon’s pulse was almost negligible, the only option they were left with was to rush him to a good hospital where a team of good doctors could work upon bringing him back to life.
The ambulance rushed towards Carolina Medical Center because that was the closest good hospital in their vicinity. Landon was fighting the battle of life and death but at the same time, he was also experiencing something that is still sort of alien to us.
He was having a life-changing experience inside his head!
As Julie and Landon both recalled, Landon was constantly fighting the battle of life and death, even after reaching the hospital. He died two more times that day.
In both instances, there was no sign of life inside of him. Absolutely no sign.
But the doctors miraculously kept bringing him back to life. All this time, Landon was in a different dimension altogether, an explanation of which was soon going to blow everyone’s mind.
The doctors were pretty clear to Julie about Landon’s condition that his chances of coming out alive were the bare minimum. The impact was so brutal that even the doctors started losing hope.
“The doctors told me that even if he comes back to life, which was a rare possibility in the first place, he would be like an 8-year old baby.
He wouldn’t know how to walk, talk or even crawl!” Julie recalled that gruesome day.
While recalling the whole incident, Julie got a bit emotional as she expressed what she was thinking at that point in time.
“I was so desperate to see him alive that I said ‘Ok’ when the doctors informed me about the chances of his brain getting damaged.
I would take that just to have him with him because he was all that I had.” Julie broke down even after it has been years since it happened.
It was a rather grim phase for Julie because, at one end, her son was battling for survival in the hospital while on the other end, she had to prepare for Andy’s funeral too.
“At my husband’s funeral, I was completely devastated.
Nothing made any sense as I kept asking several questions to the God watching above us.” Julie recalled that day.
“I kept questioning everything. I was heartbroken. I was very disappointed.
I started fussing at God. At that moment I couldn’t understand why this happened."
“I couldn’t understand why God didn’t send his angels our way to protect us from this gruesome tragedy. But the very next moment, I started praying again, praying hard to God for Langdon to live.” A tear dropped down Julie’s cheeks as she said this.
As we mentioned earlier, Landon was sitting right behind the driver’s seat so the impact was brutal and his injuries told the same story.
Landon had suffered massive head trauma and the same sent him into a state of coma from which he still hadn’t recovered.
“He was hooked up to all kinds of machines, just to keep him alive,” Julie explained her son’s condition at that moment.
If we had to put it bluntly, Landon got transformed from a happy-go-lucky 8-year old boy to a breathing corpse in just a matter of seconds.
As Julie remembered “He wasn’t showing any signs. Neither good nor bad.
The doctors saw nothing happening.” Landon might have been in a state of coma but he was experiencing something divine. Julie and the doctors had no clue about it but in a matter of few days, they were about to receive a huge blow!
After two weeks into a coma, Landon finally opened his big, wide eyes and stared into the abyss as if he had seen something abstract.
“I kept praying to the lord for Landon to open his eyes and it finally happened.” Julie recalled that day. Julie’s happiness soon vanished when she realized that she would now have to inform him about his dead father.
Little did she know that Landon had his own surprise planned for her.
“Do you know where your father is?” Julie tried to break the news to Landon but to her surprise, Landon knew exactly where Andy was.
“Yes, I know where he’s at.” Landon said with an affirmation.
Julie first thought that Landon might be kidding but she wasn’t prepared at all for what Landon was about to reveal!
When Julie asked Landon where his dad was, Landon stayed quiet for a few minutes and then broke his silence, revealing his experience like a freaking thunderbolt that was about to hit Julie.
“I saw him in heaven. He was standing right next to me.” Landon claimed and left Julie completely stumbled.
How could he have known that his father was dead when Landon was unconscious the whole time? As it turns out, he had more to reveal about his experience in the afterlife.
Just when Julie was finding it hard to recover from what Landon revealed, he gave her another surprise as he kept explaining his experience in the afterlife.
“I also saw dad’s friend, Olan Palmer in heaven. He died a month back before dad, also in a car accident.” Julie couldn’t believe what Landon was saying.
At first, she felt like it was the trauma that was doing the talking but Landon was saving the best bit for later. Something that would make Julie believe as well, that there could be something called afterlife.
As it turns out, Landon saw not one, not two but multiple people in his afterlife.
After sending a shockwave to Julie by revealing that he saw his father and his friend in his afterlife, he dropped another bomb.
“I also saw Neal Palmer in my afterlife, son of Olan Palmer who died four years back on a four-wheeler,” Landon explained.
Landon wasn’t giving enough time to Julie to recover from what he was revealing about his experience. When Julie asked about whether he had any interaction with them or not, Landon had something interesting to say.
“No one among us said a word to each other but we were just standing there, together,” Landon revealed.
Julie thought at this moment that it was all over but Landon was about to give her a big jolt!
After sharing his experience in the afterlife, Landon said to Julie “Oh mom. I forgot to tell you, I also saw your other two kids!”
Landon was the only son they had but still, Julie could feel the ground slipping under her feet.
What was he talking about? Who were the other two kids?
“I just looked at him because I had no idea what he was talking about. And then it hit me like a bolt from the blue, that I had two miscarriages before Landon was born.” Julie explained.
But the most shocking part here is, Landon didn’t know about his mother’s two miscarriages so did he really see the other two kids in heaven?
It might sound unbelievable but it is what it is!
The fact that his parents never told Landon about the miscarriages was a bit baffling but Landon had a lot more to add to his experience.
“I had no clue about my mother’s miscarriages but when I was in heaven for that brief period, I could sense everyone.
I knew who everyone was even though we were just standing there, while no one talked to anyone.” Landon explained.
Each time Landon died and went to heaven, he had a different experience and when he died the third time, he met someone absolutely divine.
“Each time I died, the experience was a lot different than the previous one. When I died the third time and went to heaven.
I saw him. I saw Jesus!” Landon dropped yet another nuke!
Julie couldn’t believe what she was hearing. It was a lot to take for her. Being a Christian and a believer of God, she wanted to know more about her son’s encounter with Jesus.
“He was standing there.
It was like a preview of a movie where I could see glimpses of everything. And then he told me that he’s sending me back to earth with a mission. To be a good Christian and to tell others about him.” Landon explained his brief meeting with Jesus.
Staying true to the mission that was assigned to him by Jesus himself, Landon and Julie joined certain grief share groups.
Their main purpose was to use their story to help people who could make use of some hope and were struggling with a personal loss.
Julie thought about what she said earlier that why God didn’t send his angels to protect her family during the accident.
She soon realized that they were indeed protected and instead of staying mad at Jesus, she and Landon started treading down the path of hope and help.
Instead of blaming the Lord Almighty for whatever happened to their family, Landon and Julie just had one thing in mind. They wanted to accomplish the mission they were assigned.
“We just wanted to help people by telling our own story.
We wanted people to have faith and hope on their grief journey. That was our job.” The mother-son duo explained.
Landon keeps stressing the fact that Jesus is real and rightly so because the man claims to have met him, himself!
“I just want people to know that Jesus is real. There is a heaven and there are angels.
Because I’ve experienced it all by myself! Landon cemented his belief and experience.
“It might seem grim and gloomy at times, life might drain you completely sometimes with no hope or faith to drive you, but I want people to know that life does get better at the end,” Landon explained.
He also went on to say that he wants people to believe in the Holy Bible and its teachings.
The whole incident and later, Landon’s afterlife experience compelled Julie Kemp to write her own book titled ‘Faith has its reasons.' In this book, Julie has talked about using her experience to bring hope and joy in other people’s lives.
“It has brought people closer to us and we are trying our best to channel positivity and hope to everyone we come across,” Julie said.
Julie Kemp is one proud mother now who is absolutely proud of her son. She considers it a huge blessing.
“I consider it a huge blessing that I get to watch my son telling others about Jesus.
He is always willing for people to know that heaven is indeed real.”
Landon too has similar thoughts about himself. “I know it’s real. I am doing it for Jesus.
I know heaven and angels are real because you know why? Because I have been there.”
Landon explained further that he was doing what he was doing for Jesus and not for someone who he hasn’t seen or doesn’t know.
Ever since he opened his eyes after the accident, Landon has been a firm believer of God and he doesn’t miss a chance to let people know that everything is real. He wants people to not give up on hope and faith.
He is still making sure that his experience of the afterlife is also inspiring people to do good in their life.
