A Faithful Watchdog
George Miller watched in fear as his normally excited pooch kept staring at a spot on the wall. There was nothing out of place in the room or on the wall as far as George could tell. He was beginning to get seriously worried now and decided to investigate further.
A dog is supposed to be a man’s best friend. Was Crosby protecting George? The longer it went on, the more George got nervous. What was hiding in his walls that only Crosby could see? He decided to set up a video camera and wondered what strange and spooky situation he would find! When he eventually saw the tape, his blood ran cold, and he sprang into action.
Who Is George Miller?
At 29 years old, Miller lived far away from his family, pursuing his career and traveling. He loved discovering his new neighborhood, but eventually, his house started to become lonely. Even though he was meeting people, coming home to an empty house was starting to bother George.
He decided to adopt Crosby. The dog was beautiful and so friendly. Instantly George’s world became brighter and full of so much love. But only after watching the tape did he realize how special Crosby actually was.
Man’s Best Friend
With Crosby, George’s life got better. He loved waking up and going for walks with his best four-legged friend. Even if he was just at home watching t.v, Crosby was on the couch with him, and slowly George became less homesick.
With a new purpose, George began exploring more of his neighborhood. Everywhere he went with Crosby, people wanted to stop and say hello. Crosby was very friendly but still protective of his owner. George would have no idea how protective until Crosby warned him of a hidden enemy in their very own home!
Everyone Needs Friends
While George was making new friends, Crosby was also getting to know other dogs in the neighborhood. Everywhere they went, people and pets flocked to the pair and wanted to say hello. Crosby is a very friendly dog, and George never saw him bully another animal.
What if Crosby had a mean streak his loving owner has not experienced yet? Would the mystery guest in their house bring out Crosby’s defensive nature? How far was this lovable pet willing to go for his owner's life?
Crosby’s Best Friends
There were two dogs in the neighborhood that Crosby looked forward to seeing every day. As they did their routine walks, the dogs became fast friends, and so did the owners. It was a tough day for everyone when Crosby’s friends passed away.
George immediately noticed a change in his sweet boy’s personality. Every day when they went for walks Crosby walked slower and didn’t seem as excited. Each day he didn’t see his friends, he appeared to have less energy. What could George do to help his best friend feel better?
Healing A Broken Heart
Crosby had been friends with the other dogs for eight years. He was sad when he stopped seeing them every day and George could tell his pet had a broken heart. He tried everything to make his boy smile and feel better.
The pair went on walks and met other animals, but Crosby always looked for his pals. When George realized Crosby would just need time, they started staying home more. That's when Crosby began intently staring at a particular spot on the wall! George had no idea how this incident was about to change both their lives, but he soon found out!
Changes In Behavior
At first, George didn’t notice Crosby’s personality changing, until one day when he came home from work and Crosby was nowhere to be found. George loved how his furry friend would always greet him at the door with his tail wagging!
At first, George panicked! Where was Crosby? He called his boy’s name and finally heard him running towards him in the house. A very relieved George gave extra affection for his furry friend’s welcoming barks! But why was Crosby hiding?
What Did Crosby Do All Day?
While George was at work, he always wondered what Crosby did all day. He assumed his loyal best friend just slept until he got home. George didn't like to think of Crosby being sad and in the house by himself. What else was there to do when he was home alone?
For the second day in a row, Crosby didn’t run to meet George when he came home. Instead of calling his name, he went to go find him. What he found was shocking, but what could George do? Was Crosby beyond repair from losing his friends or was this something more serious?
What Did George Find Crosby?
As George walked through his house, he found Crosby where he least expected. He was staring and focusing hard on a wall. From where George was standing, he couldn't see anything on the wall or around it on the floor?
What was Crosby seeing that could make him stare at one spot for hours? It was time that George got more information on Crosby’s daily routine. He decided to set up a webcam to watch what was going on. But he wasn't prepared for the results!
A Midnight Visit
After a stressful day, George went to bed early, and faithfully Crosby lay down at his feet. When George woke up in the middle of the night, he was alarmed. Crosby was gone! He ran downstairs and was shocked at what he found.
Crosby was staring at the same living room wall again? George bent down and scratched Crosby behind his ears. It was his favorite spot, but George was beginning to wonder if he really knew his best friend as well as he thought he did.
A Glass Of Water To Calm The Nerves
George decided to turn on the lights and get a glass of water. He stood next to Crosby and tried to understand what the dog saw that he didn’t. Crosby made quiet whining noises and looked up at George. Something was definitely wrong, and George needed to help!
All he wanted to do was make his sweet boy happy again. What was holding his attention all day and night? What could George do to investigate? He knew whatever Crosby needed; he would do it! Nothing else mattered to George as much as Crosby’s happiness.
Installing A Camera
George knew he couldn’t help his best friend without more information. He decided to install an old web camera and start watching the spot in the house where Crosby was spending so much time. Would this footage reveal a solution or just cause more problems?
The equipment was older, but George knew he only needed one image to let him know what was going on. He installed the camera before work and all day thought about what was happening at home. He couldn’t believe how distracted he was thinking about Crosby. He never suspected the results he saw that night!
Today Was The Day
George rushed home from work and wasn’t surprised when Crosby didn’t come to meet him at the door. He already knew Crosby would be staring at the wall, but at least now he had video footage to help him understand.
Owners have wished for years their furry best friends could communicate with them. What would Crosby say to George if he could speak? George got ready to review the footage and made a promise to Crosby he would get to the bottom of this!
Night Vision
George wanted to review as much footage as possible. Staring at his outdated web camera, he realized he should make a small investment and buy a night vision camera. He thought back to finding Crosby watching the wall even during the night and realized this was an important piece of the puzzle.
He went out to buy the camera and decided to give the footage a full twenty-four hours. This way, he could examine a full day in Crosby’s life and have all the information available to build a solution. He held his breath installing the night vision camera and hoped this would work. Was he doing enough to save his best friend?
A Hidden Signal
George sat down to review the footage and realized something unique. Crosby didn’t spend all day staring at the wall. He only moved there before George got home. In fact, Crosby only stared at the wall if George was in the house.
A startling realization dawned on George. Crosby wasn’t focusing on the wall—he was focusing on trying to send George a message. Crosby loved his owner and was trying to communicate something to him, but what was it, and how could George find out?
A Dog’s Love Language
Dog’s have several ways of communicating with their owners. They will nudge or scratch playfully and even have several different volumes of barks that can mean different things. There will be a bark for danger or barking for playtime, but what did Crosby’s silence mean, and how could George interpret it?
After their daily walk, George decided to go into the room, and Crosby trotted happily beside him. The closer George got to the wall, the more animated Crosby became. Was this what the message was? Was there something inside the wall?
Bending Down For Inspection
George got down to really examine the space, and Crosby became very excited! He started barking loudly the closer George got to the wall. George was so relieved! He could finally understand what was going on, but now he had a bigger problem.
It was clear that Crosby wanted George to look at the wall, but what was he seeing? The pair had lived in the house for ages, so this was worrisome. What had Crosby figured out about their home? Would they still be able to live there after today?
It Was Clear What He Had To Do
Crosby was giving George many signals to tell him to keep looking. The dog was barking and began running in a circle. This was the spot! George began to stare closely at the space, and then all of a sudden, noticed something he had missed.
He noticed a tiny hole. It almost looked like a crack, but George could put his eye against it and realized this was definitely a hole. He would need to make it bigger, but did he risk causing damage he might not be able to fix?
A Noise To Change His Mind
George was staring at this miniature hole when he realized he could hear something. It was a quiet noise, but it was definitely coming from the inside of the wall. He couldn’t believe what his faithful best friend had been trying to tell him.
It was time to take the next step. George was about to open up the wall, but what would he find inside? Was this a job he could do alone, or was it time to call for help? He only had a few tools lying around his house, but he knew he better start now!
A Damaging Price
George found a drill and began to make the tiny hole a little bigger. He knew he needed to be able to shine a light and at least get his hand in. Crosby was by his side, anxiously barking and encouraging him.
George knew it was the right choice, but he didn’t want to cause too much drama. He had no idea that time was running out, and he needed to get into the wall as soon as possible. What was waiting for George to rescue them on the other side?
A Few Small Knocks
George began to knock the wall out and finally had a hole big enough his hand could fit in. He tried to shine a light, but it was still so dark. He decided to stretch his hand in and feel around. Since he had no idea what was inside, he put on a pair of thick gloves, but would that be enough to protect him?
Crosby was by George's side, and he was just as focused. Every bit that George went further into the hole, he felt Crosby giving him support. Soon he felt something, but was George ready for the surprise of his life?
What Was Searching For?
George put his hand in slowly and began to feel around. He still didn’t know what he was looking for and hoped it was safe. He began to slowly move his fingers around while Crosby sat next to him, watching intently.
Did Crosby realize he was leading a rescue mission? Crosby had done everything to direct George up to this point and now was watching him silently. Was George doing the right thing, or was his hand in danger? A small noise made him realize this was the right decision.
Making Contact
Suddenly, George felt something very soft. He assumed it might be drywall or insulation and then heard a faint meow. All of a sudden, he couldn’t believe what was happening. He had never considered what Crosby could hear instead of what he could see.
A dog’s hearing is twice as strong as a human's. This tiny meow was louder to Crosby and had been for days. George took his hand out and started making the hole bigger. This had just become a rescue mission, and he wasn’t going to let Crosby down!
How Much Space Would He Need?
George decided to stop worrying about damage and made the hole big enough that both arms could go through. He knew now how urgent the situation was and began to sweat, hoping he wasn’t too late. He couldn't believe he hadn't listened to Crosby sooner, but now he had to make it count!
Since Crosby had recently lost his best friends, George never considered the implications of rescuing the creature in the wall. Would it be safe around Crosby, or was this potentially dangerous? He didn’t stop working and reached further into the wall.
A Kitten Celebration
Finally, George got his hands on the small furry object. He was being gentle and again heard the very quiet meow through the wall. He carefully tried to hold the soft material while he pulled it out of the wall. It was the moment of truth and the answer to days of confusion.
In George’s hands was the tiniest kitten he had ever seen. It was clearly hungry and injured and George didn’t know how it had even survived. He looked down in shock at Crosby and then knew he had to get to a vet now! Would the boys be too late to save their new furry friend?
A Rinse To Shine
The kitten was clearly dusty, and George decided to try and wash some of the dust and dirt off from its young fur. As he bathed it, he could not believe what he was holding in his hands. Crosby was so excited and running around the kitchen barking and wagging his tail, but there was a bigger problem.
There was no way this kitten got into the wall by itself. Where was its mom? It was so young there was no reason for it to be alone. As George started to get it clean, he decided to give it some milk and watch it overnight. In the morning, he would be able to make a plan.
A Visit To The Vet
Bright and early, George got up and took the tiny kitten to the nearby vet. Everyone there knew Crosby, but they were surprised that George had a different friend with him. As he began to tell them the story, they couldn’t believe what they were hearing!
No one in the neighborhood had reported their kitten missing to the vet, but there was an even bigger surprise. The kitten was in perfect health. It needed to be on a nutrition plan, but otherwise, it had no injuries. Was this a miracle new third furry family member for George and Crosby’s happy home?
A Different Dog
Overnight Crosby had gone back to the dog he was before he lost his best friends. He had more energy, and his tail was constantly wagging. George had missed seeing his dog so happy and decided he was going to keep the kitten.
He also realized a striking resemblance that made him wonder if Crosby was more involved than he thought. Was it possible his dog had hidden the kitten for George to find? How could he figure out how the kitten had made it into his walls?
A Striking Resemblance
One of Crosby’s best friends had been a neighborhood cat. This kitten looked so similar that George began to wonder if they were related. He put up posters in his neighborhood, but no one called or came by looking for their missing kitten.
The tiny kitten got stronger every day, and Crosby loved to lie down next to it and play. George finally decided he had to keep the two together and named the kitten ‘Lil Ray-Ray’ to pay respects to Crosby’s friend that had passed away. Was this a miracle or pure mischief? Overnight, George had found a second pet, but was he prepared for more responsibility?
One Happy Family
There was no way George wanted to separate the two new best-friends, especially based on chilling facts he heard from the local vet about animal rescue and adoption. “The vet basically told me that if I took her to the shelter, she’d be put down because there are already over 300 kittens at the county shelter alone that need homes.”
George had no idea about the sad truth that many furry loved ones are abandoned or need to be rehomed every day. If it wasn’t for trusted volunteers, who would care for all these wonderful friends and make sure they had everything they needed? George knew there was no way he would let anything happen to Lil Ray-Ray ever again. But would Crosby be okay with sharing his home permanently?
The Future Is Furry
George, Crosby, and Lil Ray-Ray created one happy family. The house was full of love and a mixture of meows and barks all day! Lil Ray-Ray didn’t leave for walks with Crosby and George but was always excited when they came back!
Can you believe what Crosby was trying to tell George the entire time? We’re so happy George was able to listen! Who knows how long the kitten could have waited inside those dark walls! We’ll never know how she arrived, but it’s the best-hidden present for this little family ever received!
