Dave, known to us as Drax the Destroyer from Guardians of the Galaxy, adopted Maggie and Ollie.
Former wrestler and actor Dave Bautista is now a new kind of hero. He adopted two pit bulls from the same home who could not longer be cared for so as to make sure they were not separated. Both dogs are six years old. Bautista wrote in his Instagram post from November 13, 2019, "I need them, they needed me." He continued, "These beautiful babies spent the first six years of their lives neglected and abused. And now they are going to spend the rest of their lives being spoiled and loved."
Lisa Bricker of Frankie's Friends, a pet foundation, said: “He has an amazing heart for animals, but I think what is even more beautiful about how he connects with pit bulls is that it's just such a seamless, loving, humble way that he reaches out to dogs and he really connects.” Fellow actor Justin Long commented on the post saying, "They just won the #doglottery."
Bautista's full caption read: "These beautiful babies spent the first six years of their lives neglected and abused. And now they are going to spend the rest of their lives being spoiled and loved. Eternally grateful to the amazing animal lovers (Lisa Bricker @frankiesfriends ,Michelle Baker, Patrick & Kimberly Thorpe) in Tampa who worked so hard to keep them safe, find them a home and most importantly keep these two together. Ladies and gentleman I introduce to you..... Maggie and Ollie Bautista."
The dogs were originally separated when they arrived at the local pet center. They were fostered for a few weeks by another couple before moving to the foundation where Bautista found them. He said that when he met them he immediately fell in love with them. Bricker also said, “He has an amazing heart for animals, but I think what is even more beautiful about how he connects with pit bulls is that it's just such a seamless, loving, humble way that he reaches out to dogs and he really connects,” she continued. “If you look at this Instagram, I'm not sure which one was already lying on his lap, but they hadn't even been there four hours.”
