These places mark some of the most haunted and scariest locations in the world!
From spirit-filled doll islands to abandoned military hospitals, you'll be dying to visit these spooky spots!
19. Island Of The Dolls
This island probably isn't one of Mexico's most popular tourists attractions, but it is one of the scariest.
A man living on the small island would string up discarded dolls he found in the river to appease the spirit of a young girl who had drowned. The man eventually died of a heart attack near the same river after claiming the spirit would not stop haunting him.
18. Pripyat, Ukraine
The town was evacuated and abandoned after the 1986 Chernobyl accident left it uninhabitable.
Today, the town stands as it was left— dolls lay in deserted preschools, trees are taking over buildings, and libraries are silently left to rot.
17.“Door to Hell”
Located in Derweze, Turkmenistan, the "Door to Hell" is a natural gas field that collapsed into a crater.
Geologists attempted to prevent the spread of the gas by setting in on fire in 1971, and it has been burning ever since.
16. Prague Jewish Cemetery
The cemetery is over 600 years old and is filled with at least 100,000 bodies— some buried 12 deep as tradition dictates no bodies be moved.
15. Grand Hotel Prishtina
The Grand Hotel Prishtina, located in Kosovo, was used as a place of torture during the Balkan Wars.
Serbian troops also used the hotel as a location to execute their prisoners. The hotel may not be so "grand" anymore, but it certainly makes for gruesome haunted history.
14. Chapel Of Bones
Back in the 1500s, a monk in Portugal decided to “decorate” a chapel with the bones of 5,000 other monks.
He also hung two bodies, one of which is a child’s, from the ceiling.
13. Paris Catacombs
The Paris catacombs span over 200 miles beneath the city and include over 6 million bodies.
While parts of the tunnels are open to the public, other parts are strictly off-limits. Airbnb offered a one night stay to an unlucky couple last Halloween in the so-called world’s largest grave.
12. "Suicide Forest"
The Aokigahara Forest, which is located in Japan at the base of Mt. Fuji, has been the place of over 100 suicides a year for the past 60 years.
Local authorities are not sure how to deal with the concerning issue.

In Sagada, locals hang their deceased loved one's coffins from a cliff in attempts to get them closer to heaven.
10. The Roosevelt Hotel
Established in 1927, this Hollywood hotel has seen some famous guests during its time.
It's said some of these long-deceased guests still "check in" to their favorite rooms.
9. Ilha da Queimada Grande, Brazil
This tiny Brazilian island is home to over 4,000 venomous Golden Lancehead Vipers.
It’s the only place in the world where these snakes can be found, which probably explains why the island remains uninhabited.
8. The Stanley Hotel
Another haunted hotel, one night at The Stanley is what inspired Stephen King to write The Shining.
Stay at this creepy Colorado hotel if you dare.
7. Cambridge Military Hospital
This English hospital stands abandoned after costs and asbestos caused it to close in 1996.
It first opened its doors in 1878 to treat British soldiers and civilians, so you know there’s a few unfortunate souls lingering in the hallways.
6. Jacob’s Well
This popular Texas swimming spot has claimed at least eight lives as people dive in to explore the vast underwater caves.
5. St. George’s Church
An artist turned this abandoned Czech Republic church into art when he sculpted ghostly worshippers.
4. Hashima Island, Japan
Once home to over 5,000 miners and their families, this island has since been abandoned as the mines closed.
It currently lies in ruins since its inhabitants left in 1974.
3. Abandoned Subway Depot
The city of Cincinnati, Ohio attempted to build its own subway system before running out of funds.
Since then, the tunnels and subway cars have been abandoned throughout the city.
2. San Zhi Resort
Construction of this resort in Taiwan was never completed as mysterious accidents and suicides kept occurring.
1. Maunsell Sea Forts
The British built these now-abandoned military forts to deter enemy attacks during the second World War.
They stand empty and un-used in the North Sea today.
