He had thousands of dollars on the line and knew he сould wait for no more. He was going to have to make a quick decision or risk losing his entire business.
Welcome To The Neighborhood!
John Jay ran a successful construction company and was excited when he landed a new contract. The work would require several weeks working on-site, and this came with one major problem.
While most construction sites were kept far away from the general public, this one would be in the heart of suburbia. John had no way of predicting how dangerous the residents of this new neighborhood would be.
Think Of The Children
In his career, John had worked at several different locations. This new contract had two unique challenges. The first was a steep hill to get to the work zone.
John knew his crew would grumble about walking uphill every day, but the second challenge is what made him question taking the work at all.
Taking Special Measures For Success
All the construction would take place at the top of a footpath. To access the location you had to walk 300 meters uphill from the road. While this wasn’t ideal, the big issue was bringing materials up to the site.
Thankfully, the location came with two reserved parking spaces. John decided to look on the bright side and his team excitedly got to work. Everything was fine until he met one neighborhood mom that would pose a big threat.
A School Pick Up Zone
Around the corner from the construction site was an elementary school. John quickly realized that many parents were using his construction parking spots to pick up their children.
At first, John would notice a car and politely knock on a window asking them to move. The spaces had a clear NO PARKING sign, but one citizen felt they were above the law.
A Big Delivery
John had a big lumber delivery that was scheduled to arrive in a few minutes. He went down to the road and was shocked when he saw a car parked in his reserved spots. He only had a couple of minutes for the road to be cleared before his materials arrived.
John walked over to the car and knocked on the window. Inside the car was a woman who was busy chatting on her cellphone. When she saw John in her window, she did this one thing he would never forget.
Brushed Off And Away
When John knocked on the window, the woman was taking a phone call. She looked up annoyed at the foreman in her window and rudely brushed him away. John was started by the gesture, but knocked again and pointed to the sign.
The woman rolled down her window and rudely told him to go away from her car. John calmly told her she couldn’t park here and would need to move her vehicle. The woman rolled her eyes and said a phrase that instantly made John’s blood boil.
Just Chill Out Dude
As John was explaining to the woman why she had to move her car, she was growing more irritated by the second. She decided to ignore his warnings and began to roll up her window. John stopped her and calmly asked that she move her car.
The woman rolled her eyes and told John to “just chill out”. John realized the situation was taking a turn for the worse as he saw the lumber truck drive onto the street.
Calling In For Backup
John began to point to the truck pulling onto the road, but the irritated woman was not listening. She continued to ignore John and he knew he would require some serious backup.
John called the police and let them know he had a car that was parked in a no-parking zone. The officer said they would send someone shortly, but John was losing money by the second not unloading his materials. He decided to give the car one more chance before he taught her an important lesson.
A Final Attempt
John knocked on the woman's window again and remained calm while he told her she would need to move her vehicle. It was clear that there was an important delivery and she was holding up his work.
She angrily told him to stop knocking on her window and then exclaimed, “Can’t you just unload it around me?” The woman was clearly irritated but she had just given John the perfect solution.
It Was A Tricky Plan
John smiled and walked back over to the lumber truck. He told the driver to pull up and park parallel to the woman’s car. Instantly a smile lit up the truck driver's face as he began to understand the situation.
It was time to give this woman a piece of their mind. Due to her rude nature, she was about to learn an important lesson she would never forget.
The End Of A School Day
As the truck parked behind the woman's car and dropped the gate to begin unloading materials. John heard the school bell chime in the distance. He assumed the woman was here to pick up her child, but she had made a grave error.
John began helping his team unload the materials when he heard the woman open her driver's door. She began barking at the construction men, but it was time for her to get a taste of her own medicine.
Completely Boxed In
The woman had parked in one of the two NO PARKING spaces. They were reserved for the construction crew and big deliveries like the one John was receiving today. There was one more car parked in the spots that belonged to a member of John's team.
With the car parked next to her and the truck behind her, the woman didn’t realize she was completely boxed in. John told his team to unload the materials as per normal, but no one could have predicted what she would have done next.
I’m In A Big Rush!
The woman got back to her car and was putting her child into the back seat. She surveyed the situation and began yelling at John that she couldn’t leave. He calmly told her that he had asked her to move several times and now she would have to wait.
The woman began screeching about this massive inconvenience and stomped back into her car. John couldn’t help but chuckle until he realized she was trying to escape!
What Would She Do Next?
When John heard the woman’s engine begin to rumble he realized they were about to face a different issue. He looked at the car with curiosity and didn’t see anywhere for her to go. She decided to make her own road!
John’s jaw dropped as the woman reversed and began to try going back into his materials! The damage she would cost him might bankrupt his entire company! Suddenly he heard a different sound coming around the corner….
BackUp Arrived To Save The Day
John let out a massive exhale when he saw a police cruiser turn around the corner. The officer parked a safe distance from the construction zone and walked over to investigate.
First, the officer stopped to talk to John. He could already tell the situation was escalating quickly. He had been called about a parking dispute but this looked like a much more dangerous, and hostile situation.
She Had One Last Attempt
The woman saw the police officer and tried to quickly get out of her car but she was completely wedged in. She rolled down her window and began yelling at the officer that the construction crew had attacked her.
John’s face was priceless as he listened to the officer tell the woman he had been called because of a parking dispute. It was clear the law would be on his side, but what would happen next.
Calling Her Own Backup
This entire time, the woman’s child had been in the backseat of the car. The officer let her know that she should call someone else to pick up her child because she was going to be losing her license.
The woman became enraged and asked the officer why he would do that. It was a simple list that finally made her stop yelling and understand the nature of her actions. Her child's grandmother arrived, and justice was finally about to be served!
Charged With Reckless Driving
John had never predicted this is how his day would roll out but this woman had certainly made things interesting. She had ignored his warnings and created a terrible outcome. John gave a statement to the officer and then continued unloading his materials.
The police officer had a serious discussion with the irritated woman and cited her with reckless driving, destruction of property, and one more big surprise! After all of her stubborn behavior, this was truly shocking to hear!
Business As Usual
The woman had been driving with a suspended license. While the whole situation could have been avoided if she had just moved her car, now she was facing serious criminal punishments.
John had tried to warn her, but at the end of the day, he couldn’t risk his business over a stubborn and mean suburban mom. It was all in a day’s work and John crossed his fingers that the remaining of the contract would be much less intense.
