Confessions of a Dog Mom

In an ideal world, we would be able to spend our entire day connected with our fur babies. Everyday realities such as work, errands, vacations, etc. can separate us from them. Often causing sadness, concern, and anxiety on both ends.

Enter PetChatz, the original and only digital daycare system for the home alone pet. PetChatz surveyed more than 1,200 dog moms from across the USA and asked them to let their dog mom flags fly high.No judgement here, only love and appreciation for our beloved companions.

Dog moms who participated in this survey range in age from under 18 to over 55, with 38% in the 55 and over crowd.

Which makes sense. Dogs are enjoyed by all. No matter what age, the joy of a dog is undeniable.

The annual household income was equally distributed throughout every income bracket in the focus group.

From blue collar to CEO, dogs are luxury anyone can afford.

Bringing to light the realization that dogs bring joy and improve our quality of life, with no prejudice for age or financial worth.

Its impossible to put a price tag on the love and companionship of a dog.

Research shows that dog owners noticed an improvement in their emotional and mental help thanks to their four-legged therapists.

Dogs are known to lower stress, blood pressure, anxiety and even blood sugar. Therapy dogs have been beneficial in hospitals and nursing homes for years.

Some of the main separation concerns voiced by participants of our study were pet boredom, no mental stimulation, pets getting into trouble and sleeping the day away.

Since dogs have no sense of time, they miss us the same if we leave for 10 minutes or 10 hours.

We asked these dog moms what the most significant benefit of the two-way interaction that a PetChatz unit can provide between them and their fur baby would be when apart.

I mean who really knows what our dogs are up to when we leave for the day.

The overwhelming response was “they could see my face and know that I love them”.

This answer alone confirms our concern for our furry family members when we are apart. We sometimes wonder who misses who more.

The majority of the dog moms we surveyed sleep with their fur babies.

Over 75% shared the bed and the covers with one or more dogs.

Some pooches even wear pajamas. Yes pajamas. Matching with their owners times. In fact, some of our dog moms confessed to having over ten outfits for their pooch!

The pet clothing industry is a very lucrative business to be in right now. Many designers are making pet lines and they are selling like hotcakes.

Pet stores and pet boutiques have isles dedicated to pack clothing, shoes, hats, sunglasses and even custom jewelry ranging in price from $10 to over $1000 per piece.

Which makes perfect sense since most boasted including their dapper dog in the family holiday card!

Holiday cards have become serious business. Professional photo shoot with hair and make up as well as matching Wardrobe’s are the in thing nowadays.

And let's not forget Fido’s birthday.

Dogs can now get monthly subscriptions that include toys games and treats. Every month a brand new set of goodies arrived at your doorstep.

Seventy percent of our party animals are celebrated with a birthday bash including other pet pals and pet parents.

There are even special canine party planners that will orchestrate the entire event to your liking. Invitations and all.

Cake anyone? Believe it or not there are special bakeries that make dog cakes for every occasion.

Prices can go as high as $2000.

The results we gathered confirm trending results from last year that Americans spent upwards of $69 billion on their pets.

Of course this figure varies from year-to-year but is steadily rising due to the invention of several new tech gadgets for pets.

And in 2018, those figures are expected to grow to over $70 billion. This makes the pet industry one of the most lucrative businesses to date. But don’t think that is easy.

There are thousands of pet based companies fighting for your business. There are major pet expos throughout the USA and companies pay big dollars to attend.

Contributing to that figure is e-commerce titan Amazon. Who is at the forefront of the online retail business.

Pet companies are clamoring to have their product carried by Amazon.

Now Amazon’s Alexa can also take commands to activate PetChatz.

Its owners can access the new skill for Alexa and “ask PetChatz to give a treat”.  Talk about amazing AI technology.

Amazon isn’t the only one making top dollar via the world wide web.

There are several online tech companies who rake in big bucks every month with online sales and quick delivery.

Did you know that several famous dogs are making big dollars for their owners on social media?

Yes it’s true, dogs are getting offered endorsement deals, movie parts, magazine spread and even branding opportunities.

Over half of our survey participants follow at least one of these famous pets on social media, adding to their popularity and net worth.

There are currently over 20 dogs famous on Instagram with over 1 million followers. They are paid for appearances and endorsements.

One of the most popular dogs on Instagram with over 6 million followers is Jiffpom.

He and his owner travel the world, treated like royalty with first class accommodations and star treatment.

This cute little ball of fluff has appeared in commercials, movies, print ads, and endorsements, with earnings in the millions.

He is only one of the many dogs that found fame on social media.

So, if you don’t already have a social media account for your pet, now may be the perfect time.
