Celebrity wives have a much more notable role than just looking gorgeous on the red carpet; in fact, they have an inseparable part of their famous husbands’ success. In an era where people have become more and more cynical about love and the concept of ‘forever after’, which seems to fade away by the day, it’s nice to see some of our all time favorite celebrity couples still going strong and looking happier than ever.
On the other hand, some of these couples gave us some great times to look back on and then broke our hearts by separating for good.
Kelly Preston’s first marriage to Kevin Gage was only two years long. Luckily, shortly after they met, she fell in love with John Travolta. They met on the set of The Experts. The two married in 1991. Both Kelly and John are Scientologists.
They had three children together, Jett, Ella Bleu, and Benjamin. Tragically, their oldest son Jett died while the family was on vacation in the Bahamas. Jett had a seizure disorder that contributed to his death.
John and Kelly are also still happily married today. They have been together for more than 25 years which is considered an eternity in Hollywood. Kelly and John both love to act but have not been in many films lately.
Interestingly, their daughter Ella Bleu has made her acting debut. Why are these two so great together? John says, “There’s a line in Look Who’s Talking when I say, ‘The key to a child’s happiness is keeping the mother happy.’ It’s true, and it’s contagious to the whole family.”
Dustin Hoffman rose to fame when he starred on The Graduate, and he hasn’t stopped landing groundbreaking roles since then. Hoffman was first married to Anne Byrne until the two divorced in 1980, and that same year he married his second wife, Lisa whom he settled in Manhattan with and enjoyed the city life.
Dustin and Lisa are still together after more than 35 years, and seem to be more in love than ever.
The couple has four children, two boys and two girls and Lisa is the stepmom for Dustin’s two other daughters from his first marriage. Their happy marriage proves that every ending has a new and sometimes an even more lovely beginning.
Jack Nicholson married Sandra Knight in 1962. Like Nicholson, Knight is an actor. She is also a painter and writer. After the two got married and Sandra and Jack had one daughter, Jennifer. Jack is close with his daughter and shared about parenting.
He said, “Children give your life a resonance that it can’t have without them … As a father, I’m there all the time. I give unconditional love. And I have a lot of skills in terms of getting them to express themselves.”
Jack and Sandra were not married very long. The couple divorced in 1968 so the marriage only lasted six years. Since the 60s, Jack has been linked to Anjelica Huston, Lara Flynn Boyle, and actress Rebecca Broussard, with whom he also had children with. Sandra is mainly a writer these days. However, there were a few acting jobs that she had back in the 50s and 60s.
Sandra had positive sentiments about her ex in an interview with Closer Weekly. She said, “The real Jack is a loving, caring, giving person. We had a very beautiful, sweet marriage,”
The actor, who was once known to be the ladies man and with the reputation of being the ultimate Hollywood bachelor, decided to settle down in his 50’s when he met Annette Bening who seemed to have stolen his heart and pretty much dismissed all those rumors that were running around. One of those rumors has it that the Carly Simon song, You’re So Vain was actually referring to the actor himself.
The couple who met on the set of Bugsy in the beginning of the 90’s, tied the knot in 1992.
After 25 years of marriage and against all Hollywood odds, Warren Beatty and Annette Bening are still going strong. The couple share four children and are still hitting the red carpets looking more beautiful and happier than ever.
One of their children, Stephen, is a transgender and a very honest activist for the community. Stephen, who was once Kathlyn before the sex change, is a Sarah Lawrence College student in New York. The actor was quoted earlier this year saying “The most important thing that’s ever happened — the best thing that’s ever happened to me — was Annette and having four kids.”
Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley have an incredible love story. Priscilla met Elvis when she was just 14 years old. She was hanging out at the Eagles Club listening to music when a man came up to her and asked if she wanted to meet The King. For 6 months they would visit each other until Elvis left Germany.
She was allowed to have short visits with him in Hollywood. Elvis proposed in 1966. The two dated for seven years before marrying in 1967.
The two had their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley a few years later. We all know the rest. Elvis and Priscilla separated in 1972.
Priscilla was open about her affair with her karate instructor. Elvis passed away in 1977, the couple divorced a couple of years before he died due to the couple’s infidelity and his substance abuse issues. They stayed close after the divorce and reportedly even held hands on the way out of the courtroom. Priscilla has since remained somewhat in the limelight, and daughter Lisa has become a musician herself.
The first actor to play James Bond, Sean Connery, had quite an interesting love life. Before he married Micheline Roquebrune in 1975, he was married to Diane Cilento. Connery and Cilento married in 1962 and got divorced 11 years later. He then married Micheline who was a Moroccan-French painter. in 1975.
The duo met in Morocco at a golf tournament. They tried to keep the wedding very private and had the ceremony in Casablanca. Both came into the relationship with kids from previous marriages.
Micheline Roquebrune had three children and Sean Connery had one son before joining families. The couple is still happily married today! One of the reasons their marriage works so well is because Micheline knows she can trust Sean.
In 2008, Micheline spoke openly about her marriage in The Daily Mail. She said, “When I met Sean, I knew I was taking on the whole package. Everyone wants him and I have to accept and understand that.” Connery retired from acting and is enjoying time with his grandchild.
Award winning actor Robert Redford stole the heart of Lola Van Wagenenback in the 50s. They met in 1957 because they both lived in the same Los Angeles apartment. The couple married in 1958. Lola was Robert’s first wife. Lola devoted her life to Robert.
She dropped out of college so she could marry him. Together they had four children, Scott Anthony, Shauna Jean, David James “Jamie”, and Amy Hart Redford. Tragically, Scott died of sudden infant death syndrome at only 2.5 months old. Sadly the couple divorced.
Robert reflected on his divorce from Lola Van Wagenen. He told AARP magazine, “It was really hard. We were very young.
I had my first theater job, which didn’t pay much. We didn’t know anything about SIDS, so the only thing you think is that you’ve done something wrong. As a parent, you tend to blame yourself. That creates a scar that probably never completely heals.” In another interview, Redford reported that the two have remained close and have the utmost respect for each other.
Michael Caine has been in many successful films including Woody Allen’s Hannah and her Sisters. After his first marriage to Patricia fell apart in 1962, he met the love of his life, his now wife Shakira Baksh. Shakira is a model and an actress. Caine saw her in a coffee commercial on TV and asked his friend to get her number.
The two were married in 1973. Michael is Christian and Shakira is Muslim but Michael has said, “no questions or issues ever come up.”
These two are still happily married. They have been married for 44 years! They have one daughter together named Natasha Haleema. Michael Caine continues to act while Shakira has her hand in fashion. She is a former model and fashion designer.
Shakira has also been in some films including Some Girls Do and a science fiction TV series called UFO. Here’s a marriage tip from Michael. He says, “The secret of a good marriage is two bathrooms. You never want to share a bathroom with a woman or you end up with a little corner for your shaving things and stuff. I am older than she is and I need more space”.
Before Robert De Niro married his current wife Grace Hightower, he was with Diahnne Abbott. Abbott is an actress and singer and was known for her role in Taxi Driver. They had two children together, Drena and Raphael De Niro. Drena even appeared in Robert’s movies including Showtime, Wag the Dog, City by the Sea and The Intern. Raphael was named after the hotel in Rome where he was conceived.
Cute or weird? You can decide. Robert and Diahnne got married in 1976 and divorced twelve years later.
The couple divorced in 1988 and since then Robert had a long-standing relationship with model Toukie Smith. He and Toukie had twin sons delivered by a surrogate via in vitro fertilization. Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa are still happily married. They both almost look the same as they did when they were young. They live in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They love their quiet peaceful life out of the limelight. Gene Hackman says he chose to not live the life of a movie star.
He told the Washington Post, “I paint, I draw. Santa Fe has a world-class opera, a chamber orchestra. Culturally it’s pretty nice there.”Hackman still loves to act and he picks up work when he can.
It may be a challenge to wrap your head around this one. Sean Penn and Madonna used to be married. Although the marriage was short-lived, we still have a lot of feelings about it. These mega stars were married from 1985 to 1989.
Because Madonna and Sean Penn are so unbelievably famous, the press got out of control with them. Penn was actually arrested for assaulting a photographer on a film set. Penn had to spend 33 days in jail (he was sentenced to 60 days!).
The two stars divorced in 1987. Sean Penn and Madonna still keep in touch. In 2016, they made headlines after they auctioned off items together at a charity gala for humanitarian efforts in Malawi. Both have obviously moved on since. Sean went on to marry famous actress Robin Wright.
Penn and Wright have two children together. Sadly they divorced in 2010 after many years on and off. Madonna went on to marry Guy Ritchie until they divorced in 2008.
Harrison and Calista met in 2002 at the Golden Globe Awards. They got engaged seven years later in 2009 on Valentine’s Day. The Hollywood stars wed in 2010 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The two have shown nothing but love for each other.
In 2011, they adopted their son, Liam, who was born in 2001. Calista is Harrison’s third wife (guess that’s the charm!). Ford was married to Mary Marquard and Melissa Mathison before finding his soulmate, Calista Flockhart.
Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart are still going as strong as ever! They are one of Hollywood’s most successful couples which is pretty shocking considering how hugely successful both actors are. They obviously don’t let their careers come before their marriage. Flockhart was the star of Ally McBeal.
She now has a role in TV’s Supergirl! Harrison has been very busy with Star Wars: The Force Awakens film, as well as films like, The Age of Adaline, Cowboys & Aliens, and The Expendables 3.
Lucky for us, Johnny Depp has had quite an eventful love life. Before Vanessa Paradis and the infamous marriage to Amber Heard, Johnny was married to Lori Ann Allison from 1983 until 1985. Lori Ann was a makeup artist (pretty sure they met on the set of a movie he was working on). Here we see the two right after getting married, looking totally in love.
Look how young Johnny was! He was only twenty years old at the time of his first marriage!
Nowadays, the only time we heard from or about Lori is when she testified on Johnny’s behalf when accused of domestic violence against now ex-wife, Amber Heard. Depp’s divorce from Amber Heard has not been finalized yet. Lori has mostly kept to herself and seeing as back in the 80s the press was not so interested in celebrity news, there is little we know of her even today.
Johnny Depp has had a hard time staying out of the press.
For many years, Anthony Hopkins has shined on the big screen. Off screen, Hopkins love life was not so glamorous. He struggled with alcoholism until Christmas 1975 when he decided to get sober. His first marriage was to Petronella Barker from 1966-1972.
Hopkins and Barker have one daughter, actress Abigail Hopkins. Anthony and Jennifer Leyton married a year after his divorce from Barker. Here we see them at one of Hopkin’s many award ceremonies.
Alas, after 29 years of marriage, Anthony and Jennifer divorced in 2002. Anthony was quoted as saying, “I live a separate life and am not very good with any relationships – with anyone. I can’t be locked up with anyone for too long.” The actor moved to Los Angeles, while Jennifer stayed in the United Kingdom.
Anthony went on to marry a third time. He married Stella Arroyave in 2003. Hopkins and Arroyave had a private ceremony in Wales for their 10th anniversary.
From Spin City to Back to the Future, Michael J. Fox was hugely successful throughout his entire 30-year acting career. The actor actually met the love of his life while on the set of Family Ties. It was there he met Tracy Pollan, where she played the role of his on-screen girlfriend.
It wasn’t long until Tracy became his off-screen girlfriend. They began dating after they met again on the set of Bright Lights, Big City. The two married in 1988.
Fast forward to 2016 and these two crazy kids are still married. Despite Michael’s early diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, Tracy has remained by his side to fight the big fight. The two have four children together. They have one son, Michael and twin daughters, Aquinnah Kathleen and Schuyler Frances, and another daughter Esme.
Michael is still acting, despite his symptoms. A real heartwarming love story is what these two have.
As often happens with Hollywood couples, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore met at a premier. They both fell in love at the premiere for the film Stakeout. Willis and Moore got married in 1987 and had three daughters together shortly after. Their children are Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.
Their marriage lasted littlele more than ten years. They decided to divorce in 2000 but remained very close, even attending one another’s weddings thereafter.
The divorce was tough for the couple. Bruce recalled, “I felt I had failed as a father and a husband by not being able to make it work.” Both moved on and managed to stay close friends. They both attended each other’s weddings.
In 2005, after two years of dating, Demi went on to marry Ashton Kutcher who is 15 years younger than her. They got divorced 2011. Bruce remarried a model and had two more daughters with her.
Mel Gibson and Robyn Moore met before fame and fortune. He was an unknown actor at the time and she was a dental nurse. They met in the 1970s and married in 1980 at a church in New South Wales. They got busy having children right away and they did not stop for a long time.

Mel Gibson opened up about the cause of the divorce in an interview. He shared that the separation began after he was arrested for drunk driving in Malibu. When the two divorced, Robyn was given half of Mel’s mind blowing fortune!

There is nothing better than when two super famous stars get together on set! They were both at the top of their game at the time. Dennis Quaid has been in many notable works too including, The Day After Tomorrow, Traffic, and The Parent Trap.

Shortly after, she dated American singer-songwriter John Mellencamp, much to the surprise of the public. Their relationship ended after three years and she has worked to stay out of the public eye.
While Stevens Seagal was married to former Days of Our Lives actress Adrienne La Russa, Seagal reportedly saw actress and model Kelly Le Brock in the film Woman in Red and said that she was "his destiny". They began an affair, and Le Brock became pregnant with his child. When news of this emerged, Seagal's marriage to La Russa was aned.

Michael was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder. Luckily he was treated with a stem-cell transplant and he is positive he will make a full recovery. Many do not know that before Tim Allen met his first wife, Laura Deibel, he was serving more than two years in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges. The two tied the knot on May 13, 2000, and have been happily married ever since even appearing onscreen in films together like Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Zoolander, Zoolander 2, Tropic Thunder, Arrested Development, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

This Hollywood couple is happy as ever and since the wedding in 2000, they’ve become proud parents of two children. Their eldest daughter Ella is now 11 years old and their youngest son Quinlin is eight.

Alfonso Ribeiro, best known for being Will Smith’s annoying nerdy brother on sitcom “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”, married his wife Robin Stapler back in 2002. The two met in 1999 while on set filming “In The House”, and were very much in love from then on. Carlton came up to Robin on set and asked her about her plans for after work; since their dinner date, the two were practically inseparable.
Having tied the knot in 2002, the couple welcomed their daughter, Sienna, shortly after.
Unfortunately for Carlton’s fans, Alfonso Riberio ended up separating from his wife just four short years later in 2006. The two are still on good terms and share custody of their young daughter, Sienna.
