Celebrities Share Their 2017 New Year's Resolutions

The new year is here!

Perhaps Ralph Waldo Emerson had the right idea when he said, “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” And Oprah Winfrey wisely stated, “Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.” Look at what these celebrities resolve to do in the new year.

Tessa Thompson

"Drink more water, because you can never drink enough. Two liters is supposed to be the thing, right?

I'm always really ambitious. A couple of years ago my resolution was to drink a gallon of water."

Sabrina Carpenter

"Keep working towards your goals, be a better version of yourself, but at the same time, don't take life too seriously."

Daya

"Chill more and take a couple of breaks. My life has been so hectic that I might go crazy if I continue this way.

It's a great kind of hectic, but at the same time, I want to sit back and enjoy life more."

La La Anthony

"I don't know how I feel about New Year's resolutions. Everyone says they want to work out more, and then you go hard for a week and all of a sudden it's back to normal.

I don't want to put that much more pressure on myself. I'll focus on improving myself as a person."

Charlie Puth

Remain calm.

Grace Vanderwaal

"Start eating healthy!

Every year I say I'm going to do it and never do it, but maybe this year will be the year for me."

"Dare to talk politics. It's super important to talk about it, especially if you have a platform and that you try to embrace everybody.

Try to keep a dialogue open and be positive."

Kelly Rutherford

"I don't make New Year's resolutions. It puts a lot of pressure on us.

It's not that I'm not goal-oriented—I used to do it. Listen to yourself instead of trying to meet all these expectations."

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi

“I feel like mine’s the same every year, and it’s just to be a healthy version of myself, and I always want to be fit and just be a good example for my kids when it comes to health and fitness and I kind of fell off a little bit, especially around the holidays.”

Ashley Iaconetti

"I was gonna say something like I want to go on more dates and be more open-minded while I go on them, because I never get off the couch. I’m like, if I have a day off, I just want to sit on the couch, but then I’m like you’re not getting anywhere.

And maybe that’s not the best of advice towards girls, but I do think that like put yourself out there… because I don’t do that, and I’m getting too old not to do that."

Gilbert Gottfried

“This year I’m going to tell Scarlett Johansson it’s over.

I feel bad leading her on this whole time.”

Hoda Kotb

“I make the same one every year but this time I HAVE to keep it because I just moved in with my boyfriend — get organized! Clean my closet! Stat!”

Al Roker

“My New Year’s resolution is to physically write a daily journal entry every day — to commit to pen and paper some aspect of the day.”

Viola Davis

"You know what? Owning their story. And the only reason why I say that is because I hang out with the moms now. And we’re always so hard on ourselves.

We’re so hard on ourselves. We just have to account for all joy and know that. Actually, that’s my mantra in 2016: I’m doing the best I can."

Michelle Monaghan

"Stop being so hard on yourself! Oh my gosh. I think women are way too hard on ourselves. I almost think New Year's resolutions are always talking about, 'Oh, I have to take this out of my life.' It'd be nice, I'd like to start reading books more. Spend more time reading, and not just headlines of news stories on Twitter accounts. Actually pick up a book.

I also think, 'Guess what? It's probably not going to happen in January.' I'm a really busy person and I'm a mom and those are tricky things. I have a fear of making that and come May I have yet to find that book I want to read. Everything in due time. I'm a good person for having overall goals for the year, so maybe mine will be to read one book."

Kate Hudson

“Gonna get on my favorite bike @pelotoncycle and try to make this happen #StillLazy #GonnaGetUpAndMakeItHappenTho.”

Ashley Graham

“Walking into #2017 with boldness, excitement and confidence!!

Thank you to all the people who helped me achieve so many of my goals, dreams and desires this past year! Dream big and get what you want. Happy New Year!”

Colin Quinn

"And my New Years resolution is to make sure my tweets are funny, smart and reflect my commitment to excellence."

Bill Nye

"Extreme weather events ain't cheap. New Year's resolution: renewable energy for all!"
