The Star Trek franchise has generated $10 billion over the years in revenue. It is not only one of the largest grossing media franchises in history but it is also an entire world of its own. The Star Trek fan world includes its very own fully constructed language called Klingon, an amusement park, books, museum exhibits, novels, games, 4 television series, 2 prequel television series, and 13 feature films, an animated series, comics toys and of course – the Star Trek conventions. This cult phenomenon has been going strong for 51 years and shows no signs of slowing down. Many Star Trek characters were trailblazers on and off screen. Whether you turn on an episode from 1966 or even a recently released episode from 2017 there is no doubt that you will get engrossed in the plot and fall in love with the characters. Leonard Nimoy as Spock


Leonard Nimoy portrayed the first ever version of Spock on the original series of Star Trek. Spock was the first officer of the starship Enterprise and later became the commanding officer. He is half human and half Vulcan as well Captain James Kirk’s right-hand man. Nimoy was nominated for 4 Emmy Awards for his role as Spock. Leonard is most famous for his role as Spock on Star Trek and has said that “If I had to be someone else, I would be Spock.”

Leonard Nimoy married actress Sandra Zober and they had two children together. They divorced after 32 years of marriage in 1987. Two years later in 1989, Leonard married the actress Susan Bay. Leonard confessed that he acted as Spock twelve to fifteen hours a day for five days a week and he felt more like Spock than himself by the end of filming. Nimoy tragically passed away in 2015 leaving behind 2 children, a loving wife and millions of adoring fans.

William Shatner as Captain Jim Kirk


Canadian actor William Shatner portrayed the original Captain Jim Kirk and he is probably the most famous as well as most decorated captains in Star Trek history. William is a Trekkie himself and has written countless books about his experiences portraying Captain Kirk as well as other Star Trek novels called TekWar that have been adapted into television series. William’s voice is still used in the opening credits of Star Trek saying his most famous line “Space, the final frontier… To boldly go, and do, what no spacecraft has done before.”

Benedict Cumberbatch plays the role of Kahn, Captain Kirk’s arch nemesis in the Star Trek feature film 'Into the Darkness'. Benedict played a fantastic villain that the viewers just loved to hate. Khan is a genetically engineered superhuman who is bent on destroying the Klingon Empire. Despite such advantages, Khan is ultimately no match for the experienced Captain Kirk and his resourceful crew. Benedict Cumberbatch is known for starring both television series such as Sherlock Holmes, and movies such as 12 Years a Slave, The Fifth Estate, and the Imitation Game.

Cumberbatch married his friend and partner of 17 years, opera and theater director Sophie Hunter, in 2015. The two met while Sophie was studying at Oxford and got married on the Isle of Wight. Captain James Kirk’s father, who appears in the most recent Star Trek movies, is George Kirk, who was also a Starfleet officer. James credited his father for being the reason and inspiration for his joining the academy. George was able to live long enough to see his son James rise to become a captain of the USS Enterprise. Australian Chris Hemsworth plays the role of George Kirk in the 2009 Star Trek movie. Chris is also known for starring in many other movies such as Thor in the Avengers franchise, A Perfect Getaway, Snow White and the Huntsman, and Rush.

Bruce is an incredible and famous actor who has also starred in Thirteen Days, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Bruce also starred in in J. J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot series as Christopher Pike once more.

Bruce Greenwood is a 61-year-old Canadian actor who is still starring in movies and blockbuster releases today. He has won many awards for his acting over the years including a Gemini Award for Best Guest Performance in a Series by an Actor and a Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture. Bruce is currently working on the animated film Batman: Gotham by Gaslight and is starring as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Canadian animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood. Bruce lives with his wife Susan Devlin in Los Angeles who he has been married to since 1985.

Uhura is one of the main characters on the Film Star Trek from 2009. Uhura is a communications officer and a translator on the USS Enterprise. In the movie, Uhara and James Kirk are in the Starfleet Academy together but don’t quite see eye to eye. Uhura actually falls for Spock as they began a relationship together. Zoe Saldana starred in the next two Star Trek films as well as Nyota Uhura in Star Trek Beyond as well as Star Trek into Darkness.

Rima Harewood is married to Thomas Harewood, the Starfleet Officer. Their child is termanaly ill in a children’s hospital so Thomas made a deal with a stranger that would sacrifice his own life to save his child. Rima became a widower but her child survived in the movie Star Trek: Into Darkness in 2013. Nanzeen Contractor played the role of Rima Harewood in the movie as well as in many other television shows and films.

Nazneen Contractor is a gorgeous 35 year old Indian actress from Mumbai. She is most famous for portraying Layla Hourani on CBC’s The Border. Nanzeen is also well known for acting on the famous television series 24 as Kayla Hassan. Some of Nansen’s credits include Covert Affairs, Stalker, Castle, Bones, Rules of Engagement, and Ransom. Nanzeen met her boyfriend on the set of 24, Carlo Rota who was also an actor on the show. They got married in 2010 and have one son together.

LeVar Burton as Lt. Cmdr. Geordi La Forge


Geordi La Forge served on the Starfleet as an officer. He started out on USS Enterprise-D as a lieutenant junior grade and worked his way up to become the lieutenant commander as well as the chief engineer. Geordi is a human that wears a visor in order to see, although the visor does not enable him to see as well as other humans can. Geordi was one of main characters on Star Trek: The Next Generation and starred in all 176 episodes of the series.

LeVar Burton is an actor, author, director, and presenter. Casey starred as Cardassian Damar on the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. They divorced in 1987 and Roxanne went on to marry Eric Dawson, her casting director for the television show Nightingales, in 1994. The couple has two daughters together, Emma and Mia. The family lives together in their house in Bell Canyon, California.

Jolene Blalock played the role of T’Pol who was a Vulcan science officer in Star Trek: Enterprise. T’Pol was the first Vulcan to serve on a human Federation ship for an extended period of time. Blalock was a massive Trekkie before she got cast so she was probably very excited when she received the role. She also starred in a parody episode of 10 Items or Less called Star Trok. Blalock is also a model who appeared in Maxim and Playboy.

Jolene met businessman Michael Rapino when he booked her to star in a beer commercial in Los Angeles. Michael is the CEO of Live Nation, which is a global entertainment company. They were in a long distance relationship while he lived in England and she was in Los Angeles filming Star Trek. Jolene was the one who actually proposed to Michael! They got married in 2003 i n Jamaica and they now have three sons Ryder, River, and Rexton. Try not getting those mixed up.

Gates starred in Star Trek: The New Generation as Beverly Crusher. Beverly was the chief medical officer and doctor of the USS Enterprise-D. Dr. Crusher was loved by all of her adoring fans – as well as her on-screen husband Jack Crusher. Gates McFadden still attends Star Trek conventions and her fans couldn’t be more grateful. Gates also starred in the four subsequent Star Trek Films in addition to the series Star Trek: The Next Generation. Gates also starred in many other movies and television series.

Gates McFadden married contractor John Cleveland Talbot and they had one son together in 1991 named James. Gates was pregnant with James while she was filming Star Trek: The Next Generation. The show cleverly put a lab coat over her to conceal the pregnancy from the viewers. Her co-star from The Next Generation Brent Spiner, who was the android Lieutenant Commander Data, was announced to be James’ godfather. Gates and John are said to lead very private lives.

Kol is a Klingon from the House of Kor, which was part of the Great Houses of Klingon society as well as on the Klingon High Council. Kol destroyed all of those from the Great Houses who were not on his side and quickly became the antagonists of Star Trek: Discovery, the newest series in the Star Trek franchise. The actor behind Kol, Kenneth Mitchell, spent hours in makeup, and the whole time he would practice the Klingon language to be an even more believable character.

Whoopi portrayed the role of Guinan on the show who was the bartender on the USS Enterprise-D. Guinan, from the El-Aurian race who were known to be good listeners made for a good bartender who gave sage advice and counsel to her crewmates. Now, over 20 years since the show concluded Whoopi Goldberg is a household name.

Stephen Hawking had a cameo for one episode on Star Trek: The Next Generation. He was a scientist and held the role of Lucasian Chair once he retired from Starfleet. In the show, Lieutenant Commander Data created a hologram of Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, and Sir Issac Newton to see how they would interact. They were put in a setting of a poker game and it made for one of the most famous episodes of Star Trek to date.

Stephen was first married to a fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde and met her before he was diagnosed. They divorced in 1995. He then married Elaine Mason in 1995 but the two split up in 2006. Serek was a Vulcan who worked as an ambassador in the Federation Council on earth. That is where he met the human teacher Amanda Grayson and married her. Together they had one son, Spock. Sarek only stared in a few episodes of the newest version of Star Trek called Star Trek: Discovery. However, the show is only one year old, so his character will have time to develop. James Frain portrayed Sarek however in other Star Trek Series, Sarek was played by Mark Lenard and Jonathan Simpson.

James Frain is a 49 year old actor from England. He has starred on many hit television shows and movies including Orphan Black, l The White Queen, The Tudors, Armadillo, Hilary and Jackie, and Elizabeth. Most recently James has been working on the set of the television series Gotham. In 2004, James married Marta Cunningham who is a director in Hollywood and the two have two children together. When James is not acting and doing his fatherly duties, he likes to paint and is an amateur artist.

Karl Urban portrays the role of Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in both of the Star Trek films. Bones was the chief medical officer of the USS Enterprise. Bones served Captain James Kirk who also was his classmate at the Starfleet Academy. The actor behind Bones, Karl, did a fantastic job and acted as the comic relief in the intense scenes of the movie. Karl also starred in The Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as in Xena: Warrior Princess.

Karl Urban was previously married to his makeup artist from the movie The Privateers. They were together until their split in 2014 and they have two sons together. Later that year Karl met Katee Sackhoff and they have been inseparable ever since. Katee is an actress herself and also starred in Science Fiction roles such as Battlestar Galactica and won four Saturn Awards including Best Supporting Actress. Jonathan Frakes played the role of Commander William T. Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as in subsequent films. William serves as the first officer to Captain Jean-Luc Picard on the USS Enterprise-D as well as the Enterprise-E. William finally became captain when he served on the USS Titan. In an infamous transporting incident Will became cloned and the two Williamss were completely indistinguishable, so one of them changed his name to Thomas Riker to avoid confusion.

Robin was assigned to the Cheif Engineer Geordi La Forge to help him prepare the ship for battle against the Tamarian deep space cruiser. Ashley Judd, who played Robin, is a famous actress and political activist. She has starred in many hit movies namely Divergent, Double Jeopardy, Norma Jean & Marilyn and many more. In addition to being an avid women’s rights advocate, Judd is also famously known for being a Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball fan and you can find her at every game.

In 1999 Ashley Judd got engaged to the Scottish race car driver Dario Franchitti while he was competing in the Champ Car World Series. Dario now races in IndyCar and NASCAR. In 2001 these lovebirds got hitched at the Skibo Castle in Scotland. They had no children together and they split up in 2013. Meanwhile, Ashley Judd is still making blockbuster releases such as Olympus Has Fallen but has not remarried since, focusing instead on her career and advocacy.

Nero was the villain of the movie, he was a Romulan captain who sought vengeance for the destruction of Romulus, so he went back in time to stop it from happening. When Nero travels back to the past, his actions create an alternate reality and he tries to destroy everything in his path. Eric Bana is an Australian actor and comedian who has starred in many hit movies such as Hulk, The Time Traveler’s Wife, and Troy.

Eric was acting in the television series Full Frontal when he met Rebecca Gleeson who was a publicist of the network. Eric took Rebecca on a trip to America two years later and popped the question. They got married in 1997 and they now live together with their two children in Melbourne, their son named Klaus and their daughter named Sophia. When Jeri Ryan joined the cast in the fourth season of Star Trek, its ratings increased by 60%. You can’t deny that Jeri Ryan has a presence. Jeri has also starred in other shows like Boston Public, Bosch, Body of Proof, and Shark.

Jeri was first married to Jack Ryan, a Republican political candidate and investment banker, in 1991, but the two later got divorced. The two opened a restaurant together in 2005 in Los Angeles however it closed down 5 years later. Chris performed the role excellently and concentrated on Kirk’s boyish arrogance, charming audiences in the process. The movies encapsulate Captain James Kirk before he became captain and show how he matured to become one of the greatest and most memorable captains in Star Trek history. Kirk, with Spock and Lieutenant Uhara on his side, encounter interstellar adventures and triumph against evil.
