Krista opened the letter and gasped. What did a grown man want from her five-year-old son? How did he get their address?
She snapped a photo of the note and posted it on Facebook. She wanted the world to know who this man was. Krista wasn't going to let him get away with this.
Adam Houssami
Five-year-old Adam Houssami lived with his family in Dearborn, Michigan. He was an extroverted child that always made friends with strangers.
One summer day, he decided to set up a Kool-Aid stall to make some extra cash. Adam charged 50 cents for one cup of Kool-Aid, which was more than enough money for him. Krista kept an eye on her son the entire time. But as soon as she turned away for one second, the mailman approached her son.
Stranger
When Krista glanced out the window, she saw her son chatting with a man in a white van. She rushed outside, but she just missed the stranger.
"Did you sell some Kool-Aid?" she asked her son. "No, I hadn't," Adam replied. "Well, what did the man want then?" Krista asked. What her son told her next shocked her to the core.
Mailman
Adam told her that the man was a mailman. He wanted to buy some Kool-Aid but didn't have any cash.
So, Adam poured him a big glass of Kool-Aid and gave it to him for free. Krista felt so proud of her little boy. He had a good heart. But she never could have imagined what the mailman would do just a few days later.
No Luck
Her son continued selling Kool-Aid, but even during the heatwave, he didn't make much money. Krista felt bad for her son. Why weren't people buying his Kool-Aid? It was a perfect drink for a hot summer day.
Then, one morning something unexpected happened.
A Letter
Krista went outside to check the mailbox and saw a letter addressed to her son. Who was it from?
As she kept reading the letter, she quickly realized who the author was. And then, she burst into tears.
"Thank You"
"Adam. Remember last week when you were selling Kool-Aid on a hot day?" the letter began.
"I didn't have any money, but you offered me Kool-Aid anyways. Thanks, man! I was really thirsty. Good things happen to good people like you."
Twenty Dollars
"Stay cool, dude. Mailman," the letter continued. Krista was so touched by the mailman's letter.
Inside the letter was a $20 bill! Krista was in complete shock. Her son would be so happy! He would have to sell 40 cups to make twenty dollars.
Touched
Krista grabbed the letter and ran inside to show Adam. "It makes me feel really good to know that there are still people in this world that care," she said in an interview.
She was so impressed by the mailman's gesture that she immediately shared the story on Facebook for her friends and family to see.
The Story
"Adam was selling Kool-Aid in the front yard last week, and he asked the mailman to buy some," Krista wrote.
"He didn't have money on him, but Adam said, 'It's okay, you can still have some,' and he poured him a cup. Today the mailman put this in our mail. This seriously brought tears to my eyes. What a kind thing to do."

Krista's Facebook post went viral. Just like her, people were so touched by the small act of kindness. More than 500 people shared her post, and many wrote positive comments.
WXYZ news in Detroit released Krista's story on Youtube, and it received over 64,000 views!

She hopes that her son will remember his interaction with the kind mailman forever.
She also wants him to understand that kindness is always rewarded with kindness.

“I think that it will show him that, no matter what, you should help people,” Krista said.
