All Hope Was Lost For This 17-Year-Old When She Got Paralyzed In A Car Crash. But, Something Unexpected Happened

Imaging just going on with your day when a sudden event turns your life upside down! Well, that happened to a 17-years-old girl that lost everything after a tragic accident. No one could believe what had happened and everyone was praying for the best.

But, did the girl had a happy ever after? Make sure not to miss #15, #13 and #12!  It was just an ordinary day for the 17-years-old Lacy Jonhson who was driven by her best friend's mother home when suddenly the woman started shaking and the teen realized that she was having a seizure. So, after taking off her safety belt, the girl tried to take the weal from the woman's shaking hands, but the car ended up crashing into the curb, hitting another car and flipping over, causing the teen that had taken off her seat belt to fly out of the car!

The tragic accident happened in June and after a while, the girl's aunt decided to open up and talk about the accident to ABC 13 News “[The women] were in the car, the driver started to seize and the accident happened,” she said.

“The vehicle flipped three times.”

After the accident, the girl was transferred to the Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center’s Red Duke Trauma Institute in Houston. There, the doctors were really worried whether the girl would make it.

She was seriously injured all over her body as she flew away from the car and landed on the concrete.

She was in a very bad condition, as she had injured her spine in four places, the bone of her arm was visible because the skin was missing, her organs were injured, her liver was failing and one of her lungs had stopped working. But, there was a more serious injury that would be the hardest one to heal.

Her skull had been disconnected from her spine!

Except for the accident, Johnson's aunt talked about her injuries, trying to hold her tears back. “Our baby is bleeding from her abdomen [and her] liver.

We are told that she has her spine broken in four different areas,” the devastated family member stated. “She had to have her skull reattached,” she said.

These injuries cost a lot to Lacy. She could only breath through a machine and her left side was paralyzed.

So the poor girl had to go through a lot of surgeries for her condition to be stabilized. Her aunt said in June that up until that point her niece had nine surgeries.

When July came, Lucy was making a lot of effort to recover, but her injuries were very severe and it was clear that recovery would come after a lot of time and effort. Thankfully, Lucy had her loved ones by her side all the time.

"We try to remind her that together, we are going to get [her] through this," her aunt said.

However, Lacy was determined to get better and recover despite her serious injuries.

Moreover, her will to recover was making her family very optimistic and the firsts signs that Lacy was doing a great job appeared in just a month after the accident!

Despite her tries, there were still many obstacles that were making this journey harder. The most important was that for Lacy to continue her therapies, there was needed a lot of money, that the family was struggling to find.

So, to raise some money, they set up a GoFundMe page for people to donate for Lacy's treatments.

Thankfully, Lucy's story became known to many people and by August there had been raised about $12,000 by more than 200 people! Moreover, many of them wrote her encouraging messages, wishing her to get better and telling her not to ever give up! “It can become way too easy at times to ease off the hard work of recovery.

Self-motivation can sometimes diminish on bad days. Don’t give in to the enemy. Stay strong,” wrote one donner on Lacy's page.

The messages of support were heartwarming and they encouraged Lacy to stay strong and fight for her recovery. “Lacy’s story touched my heart.

I’m also well aware of how minor things – like the cost of daily parking in the [hospital] – can be a worry and a distraction to a family in crisis. Prayers for your continued recovery and also for your supportive and loving family,” another donner wrote on the page.

Thankfully, Lacy started showing very encouraging signs of recovery, as in August she managed to start controlling her left side that was paralyzed by the accident. But, she didn't stop there!

She also managed to start walking again!

It was clear that there was nothing that could stop Lacy from recovering! She had unbelievable strength inside her, as well as a very supportive family. Of course, the family shared the happy news on Lacy's GoFundMe page.

“Lacy, determined to walk again, did whatever the therapist instructed her to do! Lacy being here today is nothing but a miracle!” they wrote.

She started recovering in just two months from the accident and everyone thought that it must have been a miracle that saved that girl. Now, she was able to even give interviews to the press.

She was so grateful for all the help she had received from everyone and her words brought tears in our eyes. “God is real because I’m not supposed to here right now,” she said.

She also informed the people that were watching her story through her GoFundMe page by writing: “I learned how to walk up and down stairs. I walked on a treadmill, that was weird,” she said.

“I’m mostly working on my left arm, picking stuff up and putting stuff down and I’m just ready to go home.” Thankfully, after a few days, she was ready to go home, but she was aware that her full recovery hadn't been achieved yet.

Even though Lacy returned to her home, she would still need treatments and therapy and of course she wasn't ready yet to return to school.

So, in order not to miss any more time from her education she will be homeschooled until she will be ready to join her classmates.

Moreover, the donations didn't stop after she left the hospital. It was clear that her recovery trip was far from over and that she still needed help.

So, with the donations, she would manage to change her home in order to be able to move around with safety by making it disability-friendly.

Her family recognizes and is so grateful about the help that they have received for Lacy's recovery by strangers that are just kindhearted! “We are just doing exactly what God gave us [the] responsibility of doing,” Lacy's aunt said.

“And that’s to take care of her and protect her.”

However, even though her journey hasn't ended yet, everyone is sure that Lacy is a very strong person and that she is a true fighter and that everything is going to be just fine for the family.

She also has a very supportive family and kind people that try to help her even if they don't know her in person.

So, despite the fact that the accident changed her life forever, she isn't ready to give up and we are sure that she will make it at the end of the day. Her family also wrote in her GoFundme page: “Her story is not over.

just on to a new chapter.”
