20 years after Diana's death, some of her secrets have been exposed. Even though she was a good person and did a lot of humanitarian work, Britain's "People Princess" had as well a less known dark side.
Most of them are due to her hard time with an unloving husband and having the whole Royal family against her...But still she could be considered as a good-hearted woman.

Everybody knows about the relationship between Charles and Camilla, who was the love of his life. It was said that Charles was standing at the window of the Buckingham Palace the night before the wedding with Diana, while tears were pouring down his face.
Dianas Affair
The reason behind his tears was that he knew that he wasn’t marrying the right woman. And further he felt pressured into marrying Diana, the only reason he did marry her, was that his true love Camilla was already married to someone else.
Charles wasn’t the only one to have an affair. From 1986 until 1991 Diana had an affair with James Hewitt, a former cavalry officer.
The Depression
He was madly in love with her and he even considered commiting suicide after Diana broke up with him. Asking Hewitt about what he thinks Charles would have felt he answered boldly: „He was probably grateful someone was looking for his wife“.
Since the beginning their marriage was set to fail. So it isn't actually a surprised when Diana went public and told the media that she has suffered from a bad depression.
Diana Almost Lost Her First Child
She even hurt herself, cutting her arms and legs until she found professional help.
Diana was so desperate to get her husbands attention that she threw herself down the stairs while pregnant with her first child William.
Scholastic Failure
It was the Queen who found her laying on the base of the stairs while her husband was still disregarding her mental state.
Even though she was granted access to the most prestigious educational institutions, she was never very fond of school.
79 Dresses
After changing multiple times school, she failed her O-Level exams and decided to stop education at 16 years old.
Diana was a very charitable person, so she wasn't sure what to do with all her royal dresses after her divorce. So William proposed that she should sell them in order to spend the money for charity.
Diana The Rebel
She sold 79 dresses and raised almost 6 million pounds for charity, especially for breast cancer and Aids patients.
Since the wedding of their marriage it was clear, that Diana wasn't the prototype of the perfect being princess.
The Settlement
At their wedding vows she refused to say that she will "obey" her husband, how it is used to say in the Royal Family, which shocked the Queen for breaking royal precedent.

The Normal Life
She referred to him as "Mr.Wonderful" before breaking up with him.
Diana always tried to instill humble values to their son and make them live a normal life, even with the circumstances they were born in. She used to take them grocery shopping or to London underground.
The Humanitarian
Her sons still upheld these values up to this day.
Diana loved humanitarian work, it was her passion to help people. She travelled from schools to animal sanctuaries and even to sub-saharan African countries to give aid to HIV/AIDS victims. She tried to get rid of stereotypes about HIV victims, and was the first royal family member who had direct contact with them, despite the Queen being against it.
Unsupportive Sons
Diana said:“HIV does not make people dangerous to know. You can shake their hands and give them a hug. Heaven knows they need it.”
After her death Harry and William admitted, that they feel as they had let down her mother, they should have protected her from bad media. William said in a personal statement:“We couldn’t protect her.
Diana Felt Uncomfortable Wearing The Tiara
We feel we at least owe her 20 years on to stand up for her name and remind everybody of the character and person that she was. Do our duties as sons in protecting her.”
Diana And Dodi
Even though most girls dream of wearing a tiara, Diana actually hated it she said it gives her a headache and she feels uncomfortable wearing it.
Diana started her romance with Dodi Fayed, eldest son of Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed just one month after breaking up with her heart surgeon boyfriend.

The driver lost control while trying to escape paparazzi and crashed into a wall, the couple died immediately. Strange is that the car drove at 120mph, while the speed limit was at 31mph and on top of everything the reason why the driver los control, was that he had a bad alcohol intoxication.
Many people were deeply shocked by terrible death of the couple, but nobody was as angry as Dodis father. He claimed that the accident was planed by the Royal family and committed by the MI6 in intend to prevent Diana from marrying his son.

After Diana's death announcement the Royal family decided not to break protocol and to continue with normal everyday life. They even attended Sunday Mass at Balmoral, without even mentioning Diana.

Sources told that her sons were even asking if their mother was actually dead. The Queen gave the order to take away all televisions at Balmoral, so the boys can't see the news who were only talking about their mother.
The only survivor of the car crash, Trevor Rees, Diana's former bodyguard, made statements against the conspiracy theory, that the MI6 killed them.
